The horror VR game will make use of the PSVR2’s eye-tracking system to face you against enemies that move when you blink.

In an article from EDGE magazine (issue #380), we learn more about the hinted eye-tracking gimmick that Switchback VR has.

A certain type of enemy will move while you’re blinking, and you have to use this to your advantage in order to take it down.

A door painted with the instruction ‘don’t blink’ opens up into a room of blood-smeared mannequins in harlequin masks, their bodies twisted into unnatural poses.
Eventually we can’t help it any more, and let our eyelids flutter closed.
When they open again, the mannequins have been rearranged – or have rearranged themselves.
Another blink, and it happens again, except that one of them has now come to life.
As we repeat this process, we learn to use our eyes tactically, only blinking once our guns are readied.

Game Director Alejandro Arqué Gallardo also mentions in the article that the studio isn’t obligated to make use of PSVR2’s hardware features.

“We were basically creating the design of the level itself and then asking: how can we make it more real, using everything that we have at our disposal?” he states.

So while Switchback VR does highlight the VR headset’s advanced hardware, it’s done in a natural and impactful way.

Reminds me of the creepy weeping angels from Dr. Who...

Beaten like a moroccan carpet! That concept is scary on a flat screen...In VR, it would be a great opportunity to wear one's brown underwear...

Also from Edge article song in the smoke gets psvr2 version
One way that Sony might bolster the library is with titles developed for the previous hardware, but PSVR2 doesn’t support backwards compatibility, requiring extra work from developers. Some are making the effort, though, including 17-Bit – a new ‘Rekindled’ version of its survival game Song In The Smoke, incorporating all of the new hardware’s features, will be out at launch. “It wasn’t a light upgrade – it was a ton of work and up-rezzing of so many visual systems,” creative director Jake Kazdal tells us. “It stands alone, even compared to the highest-end version possible on PC VR – it’s honestly not even close.” And where does this leave people who bought a copy of the original version? “We want to make it a free upgrade for PSVR1 owners but still need to figure out the logistics of that.”

Reverse groomer.
interesting... i feel like this could be better used to change the environment as you blink, so you start seeing shit that you swore wasn't there a moment ago. fucking with ur brain a bit. it could help with the horror as well. im glad that the eye tracking is being put to good use, though.

The Eyetracking capabilities of PSVR 2 are being slept on. It has so much potential, it's disgusting.

Imagine a Silent Hill/Evil Within type games made with this tech.

Other things like Menus, HUD, etc will be awesome when integrated properly as well.

horror games seem to work well with VR as you cannot run away from anything more th an 3 feet. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

This is definitely the type of thing that can draw attraction to the gameplay possibilities of Vr.

Or feels like something that could be controversial. There's a decent proportion of folks that blink involuntarily. This would end up being seen as an accessibility issue.

Either way, glad to see devs eager to make full use of PSVR2's new hardware features.

There was a PS2 game called Michigan: report from hell in wich you are a camera man, and depending how you frame shit things could happen or you got scored in a certain way.

A bunch of new mechanics could emerge from this feature .

And I dont see how Kojima will be not interested to make a VR game.

EDIT: OMG....Fatal Frame.
