Lmao imagine disliking a trailer because you didnt like the main character in it.

Before knowing anything about how any of it plays.

Pathetic

Its all CG trailers too, which says nothing about the game.

Also not sure this is thread worthy but I dont want to thread whine

AFAIK these dislike viewers only measure the reactions of people that have the app and the only people interested in this data are people who are more likely to be downvote brigaders anyway. Given that the data is likely to be hugely skewed, it seems largely useless other than as a metric for dudes who want to feel like they’re doing something while doing absolutely nothing.

Imagine so many years into this woke nonsense the MC alone is not sufficient evidence of what else we‘ll get in the final game.

I mean, has there ever been a game/movie that looked woke at first and then wasn’t in the end?

Yet somehow Onimusha is doing perfectly fine. Here is a shocker, a lot of folks just didnt like that reveal due to entirely yet another predictable ND bald girl boss MC.

Maybe everyone is wrong and the game will turn out amazing, but that first trailer was what it was.

as we can see with SW:Outlaws, Concord, Dragon Age: Veilguard, YouTube likes/dislikes ratio correlate to sales performance. Those games have high dislikes count (more than likes count)

Weird. It’s almost like there’s a hive mind mentality amongst the people that use it. You’re so close to stumbling onto an answer. Just a little push further now.

If these metrics get shared widely enough maybe Google would eventually convince itself to bring back the actual dislikes rather than having people share inaccurate data. So I'm all for it. It's also the best we've got, and the extension has millions of users.

Or it’s almost like some people can’t accept the fact that other folks just don’t like this particular trend.

And no, it’s not because the protagonist is a woman. It’s almost like there’s a certain trend to it. You’re so close to stumbling onto an answer. Just a little push further now.

I don’t disagree with the first part of your assessment about Google bringing it back, but the app having millions of users is largely useless if those users are predominately people that want to measure their brigading metrics since it will make the data uselessly skewed.

Boss lady vibes from first trailer… the game is from ND…. The director is Neil Druckman… I mean, feel free to remain optimistic but don’t expect everyone else to think there is no fire when there is so much smoke.
I didnt play TLOU 2 yet.

I know yall hate it because there's a boss lady in that too, and you guys hate strong women obviously.

Who cares if the woman is a protag? That doesnt make the game bad, woke, or smoke

There is nothing else about the MC that is off putting other than she is a woman? Nothing else giving ND leanings?

I played TLOU and there isn't much wokeness in that. Havent played TLOU 2.

But ND = bad now I get it, you need a strong man in the protagonist role to feel like the game speaks to you I guess.

Me, I don't care, as long as the game is good.

We were discussing the efficacy of the extension and you’re off in the weeds back into culture warring. Stay on topic.

It is definitely skewed, but at least in this case, I doubt it's very different from the actual figures (for Intergalactic): you can look at the popular comments and they very much reflect the like/dislike ratio the extension shows. I agree it's gonna be 'less bad' than the figures we see here, but the reception overall certainly hasn't been particularly rosy.

Well, then why the heck are you arguing if you haven’t played TLOU2 or at least watched it played?

TLOU 1 was a great game.

Why would I base my entire opinion on a studio on one game? ND hasn't dissapointed me in the gameplay department, pretty much ever?

UC 1-4 were great. TLOU was great.

Maybe TLOU 2 isn't that great, I don't know.

Does that make the entire studio woke and bad? One middling game? Seems dumb to me

Thats just my opinion tho

Again, it’s one of those scenarios where the loudest voices will always be the ones that rise to the top. The people who are happy are always less likely to reply or comment than the people who are angry. This is literally why social media feeds on rage bait for clicks and money making.

I’m not completely downplaying what you’re saying because the comments are the comments obviously, but you have to put this shit in context. In any industry it’s always 1% of your customers who are 99% of your problems.

I wonder what ND will think about the reaction.

Because it’s the last game ND made over what, 6 years? Because Druckman’s stance is obvious? Because this particular trailer is sticking with the theme?

Nobody knows if the game will be good or bad. People disliked the trailer.

As far as how accurate the plugin is? Nobody can tell since Google yanked dislikes. But at least if you look at normal YouTube videos dislike ratios are reasonable usually.

Intergalactic hooked me for the first 3 minutes, the character is hot and the TV lady with the eye patch reminds me of Big Boss from Metal Gear I was 100% in until CRASH BANDICOOT text appeared together with synth pop. Somehow I couldn't take it seriously anymore.

But I never would've thought the dislikes to be so high.

Wait... are you missing the entire point of a trailer?

If how a game played mattered to a fucking trailer we wouldnt be getting so many shit CGI nothingburgers.

The entire point was to sell people on the concept and character... if their failing at that then they are failing at a trailer.

Their reaction should be to realize that the diverse girlboss lead is now more played-out and yawn-inducingly cliche than the gruff white male stereotype they are pushing back against, and its actively agitating a solid chunk of their primary market.
Yeah its an interesting one. I know its a completely different genre, but you'd think someone at PS might be at least a tiny bit nervous with the reaction after Concord's quick demise.

Leaving aside that people has disliked or liked media based on the characters in it since forever, people also can dislike trends. When new product joins a disliked trend it will get the same reaction. Intergalactic falls into what has become a trope at this point. Some people just hard pass on anime games with amnesiac protagonits. Others scoff at action advetures starring white bald guys that have a 30% chance of being hooded. It's not illegitimate to be tired of colored woman with attitude in action game given how much they have proliferated lately (and adding very little to the game and the medium, I would say)

I agree that it's kinda dumb hating on a game before seeing how it actually plays but I also find it funny people feel the need to defend it not knowing how it plays. They just showed a cinematic to set the mood of the game. If the mood doesn't gel with people you ain't getting much from them. If you are predisposed to defending any criticism because you like the studio making it (for example) they ain't goint to get anything of value from you either.

At the end it's just too groups of people feeling themselves too intensely. Just another day in the Internet.
