The Xbox Summer Game Fest demo event returns next week

Starting from June 15 and lasting until June 21, players will be able to download more than 40 demos of upcoming Xbox One and Xbox Series X games.

Like last year, the demos featured are not considered “normal” game demos, and are to be considered more like show room demos.

As such, some of them are very early versions of games that don’t necessarily represent the final versions.

The full list of game demos will be confirmed next week, but Xbox provided details on five demos in particular:

Sable
Embark on a unique and unforgettable journey and guide Sable through her Gliding; a rite of passage that will take her across vast deserts and mesmerizing landscapes, capped by the remains of spaceships and ancient wonders.
Lake
It’s 1986 – Meredith Weiss takes a break from her career in the big city to deliver mail in her hometown. How will she experience two weeks in beautiful Providence Oaks, with its iconic lake and quirky community? And what will she do next? It’s up to you.
The Riftbreaker
The Riftbreaker is a base-building, survival game with Action-RPG elements. You are an elite scientist/commando inside an advanced Mecha-Suit capable of dimensional rift travel. Hack & slash countless enemies. Build up your base, collect samples and research new inventions to survive.
Echo Generation
The summer of 1993 is nearly at an end and a sleepy Canadian town suddenly becomes home to strange accidents and mutated creatures. Echo Generation is a voxel turn-based adventure game about a gang of kids investigating supernatural occurrences while battling monsters and mechs to save their small town.
Tunic
Tunic is an isometric action-adventure game where you explore the wilderness, fight monsters, and discover secrets. You play as a tiny fox in a big world that is filled with mystery. A beautiful setting, tight combat, and a variety of items await you on this grand adventure.

Loved the initiative from last year, and I'm glad it's returning this year.

Again:

It’s summer time and we’ve got another scorching hot line-up of game demos ready just for you! This will be our third ID@Xbox Summer Game Fest Demo event as part of Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest promotion. Starting June 21st and running through June 27th, you’ll be able to play over 30 demos of upcoming unreleased games for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One!

A few things to keep in mind:

  • These demos will only be up on the Xbox Dashboard for a week. Some might be re-published to the Demo channel later, but many will simply disappear at the end of the week, so check them out while you can.
  • The developers would love to hear what you think. Hit them up on social media or through their websites. If you like the game – tell them! If you have constructive criticism, they would love to hear that too.
  • These “game demos” are not the norm. Typically, the demos you see in our Demo channel are created after the game is completed (or nearly completed) and represents an almost final to final version. Think of these as akin to “show floor demos” and not necessarily indicative of the final product. What that means is that you’ll get to experience these games early – some way early – which is awesome since you’ll have the chance to provide your feedback! You should also note that these games will continue to evolve and be polished as they near release.
We’ll announce the full list closer to June 21st, but here are some titles you’ll want to keep in mind:

Batora: Lost Haven

The physical and mental powers of a naive and reckless girl who lost everything are the only weapons to save the Earth from oblivion. Jump on a journey across colorful and mesmerizing planets in this fast-paced adventure where your conscience will carry the weight of your decisions.

Broken Pieces

Broken Pieces is a psychological thriller taking place in a French coastal village somehow outside the flow of time. Solve the mysteries by putting the pieces of the story back together by figuring out the enigma behind this mystical place.

Severed Steel

A stylish single-player FPS featuring a fluid stunt system, destructible voxel environments, loads of bullet time, a unique one-armed protagonist, and a dark electronic soundtrack.

Tinykin

Catch hundreds of tinykin and use their unique powers to bring Milo back to his home planet and back to normal size!

I'm intrigued

looks cool, and I saw the demo on Steam, which I'm currently downloading :D

edit: pretty cool game. some of the controls feel kinda weird, I think the issue I have is that your movement abilities don't combo into eachother, so if you do a dive you can't combo that into a kick-slide, neither can you combo a dive into a normal kick or wall-kick
that's the only real thing that bugs me about it. but it's really fun otherwise.

I'm kinda sad tho that it has no raytracing, as basically every surface in this game seems to be highly reflective and SSR is not great for that kinda suff. with raytracing this would look crazy I imagine
