There is a strong possibility Ghost of Tsushima 2 releases the same year as Assassins Creed Code Red, which do you think will be better?

Which ninja game will be superior?

  • Assassins Creed Code Red

  • Ghost of Tsushima 2

  • I’m honestly not sure, it depends

People have been calling Ghost of Tsushima Assassins Creed Japan since it was announced lol

Now Assassins Creed IS in Japan and it’s tracking to come out close to the former. Once they start showing trailers its going to be the main talking point of both games

Almost like Callisto Protocol and Dead Space Remake
But it doesn't need to be compared, at-least not like this. People are now getting two games that they can play set in Japan. But yeah, it's going to happen anyway.

I don't think, realistically, either company wants to compete with sales by releasing too close together. It seems dumb, no matter who takes the lead in sales.

It'll be hard to beat Ghost of Tsushima 2.

I'm surprised Ubisoft chose Japan, simply for the fact that comparisons will be easily made to GoT, and most likely unfavorably. I guess for those without a PS5, it'll be the only choice.

Ubisoft should have picked China or another asian country for their game.

I hate to port beg but for business wise Sony needs to a do a GoT pc port before AC Red releases to chip away its hype.
Why does this sound so childish? Does it really hurt your feelings if another game gets a spotlight? How or what would chipping away the hype from AC Red would do to your life? Will you become a millionaire over night because of it? Lol.

They should have made japan the mobile game and china the console game. I think people would have been angry they didnt do japan though

I remember playing the first game and finding all the kanji in your room at the end. Literally thought this was coming decade ago. Had no idea what was about to happen lol

Not played an AC since Black Flag, which was fantastic (played 1-4). I’ve not played Valhalla, however my brother said it is excellent. I just don’t have too much time to play 70 hour games which is why I’ve not played it.

GoT, I have the Director’s Cut. Watched my brother play it, I think it looks drab. Deleted it from my PS5. I didn’t like Second Son either, but liked Infamous 2.

I’ve put ‘it’ll depend’.

Ghost took inspiration from AC, that much is sure. But the world, mechanics and combat system they crafted for that game, as well as the style of gameplay is far better than any AC game IMO. Ubi worlds somehow all manage to look and feel like the same thing despite their different settings. I just couldn't get into Valhalla as much as I wanted to. The combat felt weak and didn't flow. The map and story was bloated and confusing. I never quite knew where I had to go or what I was supposed to be doing. AC is also saddled by its 'world'. The animus and Sci-Fi Alien connection, and the 'Assassins' v Templar stuff, hidden blade etc. hold it back IMO.

Ghost is a game that captured me from the beginning. They did what no other developer had done for a long time and gave us a grounded, semi-historically accurate samurai game. Not some anime inspired, over the top, campy blonde wigged JRPG. Not some supernatural ghouls and monsters. They built a world that I had been longing for in a 3rd person action game since Shogun: Total War, Kengo and Way of the Samurai in the early noughties. It was like being in a Kurosawa flick or one of the many history books I've read and every second of it was amazing. The story had it weak points overall. The 'samurai to ghost' journey and over the top depiction of Samurai honour vs the 'dishonourable' way of killing Mongols I feel was a bit unbelievable, but it was enjoyable. I only wished they dialled up the realism even more, but it was fantastic. The gameplay and combat was also smooth as silk and far more satisfying than anything in any AC game I've played in recent times. A bit more budget and polish with some better physics/realism, I feel Sucker Punch can make a GOAT 3rd person open world game.

EDIT: I should add, Ghost was my favourite game on PS4, and top 3 of all time. Love it.

Yeah, if Ghost gets the Horizon treatment as far as an equal graphical leap and fine tunes its AI/Stealth and open world it will be hard to beat. They are making a movie so i assume sony is investing a lot of money into the next game

Tshshima 2 is probably gonna be the better game but outside of aesthetics and atmosphere, i was not overly impressed by the first game.

Ubisoft need to make a decent combat system before even being in the discussion.

I feel like the comparisons will hit hard, now. Especially since Odessey studio is making Red and they had arcade running animations and guess what... I found Ghost of Tsushima very arcade like while not in combat.

But I think that GoT2 will be better overall, more polished game. Probably PS5 exclusive and I'm not still convinced that Red won't be a crossgen game.

Ghost of Tsushima... I don't even know, was it all about it being in Japan and samurais that got all people bouncing? Because that game was your run-of-the-mill open world adventure with repetitive quest.

I don't know, I have finished the last three AC games and despite the bloat and repetition, actually enjoyed travelling through these worlds - what I always liked about open worlds is to discover new places. GoT is totally fine as a game, but it is has a boring world and I never bothered to finish it. If they can improve on that as well as make the combat a bit better, I will be all over it.

Also, Kassandra >>>> Jin

A Sony first party game will always beat Ubisoft game in combat. Animation fluidity in Ghost was already way better than in any of the recent AC games. It made the combat feel way more satisfying.

I love both games.

I've fallen out of favour with recent AC games but man I did love Odyssey, and Origin's was pretty cool as well as far as world and environmental design, art direction too.

I know people think of Ghost of Tsushima as that 'Japanese' AC game but I feel it really transcended that, the only similarity I saw was some of the stealth mechanics. GoT has a far more distinctive design compared the recent AC games, especially when it comes to the style of story telling, and the environment and art direction.

GoT is also an eye melter on the PS5, especially in 60 FPS. I'm really curious to see what Sucker Punch can pull off with the PS5 hardware.

Most likely ghost will be the more beautiful game but assassins creed will have triple the amount of content/detail.

It will be Tsushima 2, no contest. Tsushima 1 was already better than the average Ass reed, so I imagine they'll only improve on the formula after all they learned from the first.

I liked GoT over any AC I played (I didn't play all of them). Having the base of the first one, now that they basically "only" have to improve on top of it for the sequel, I assume GoT2 will be way better. So I think GoT2.

If Red goes the RPG/last three AC style route, then GoT is gong to be several tiers better.
The next one, AC Mirage seems goes back to the original formula of a not as huge game, more focused on narrative and stealth. So probably Ubisoft is going back to their origins and now will make 50h+ long AC more action adventure games instead of split their recent 150+ AC games more RPG games, like splitting the resources that they did spend on a huge ass AC game into 3 not that big AC games.

One is a samurai game, one is a ninja game; literally asking if apples are superior to oranges.

If the question is which one will sell more, it's obviously AC RED.

Didn't play Valhalla but if red is like odyssey or origin then no thank you. They say it's not going to be a 150 hr bloatfest but that would mean a complete reworking of the game if true.

I don't believe ubisoft has the restraint to do a shinobi game right. I'd rather play as a straight up ninja with more stealth and some of sekiro's grappling but I have full faith in Ghost being the MUCH better game

Are we sure this isn't a mobile game? Because I can only go by the teaser graphics and it looks cartoony.

This new Assassin Creed game is a new Shinobi in all but name, seeing as Sega isn't bothered about reviving it anytime soon, just think a new Shinobi game by them could be as good as Streets of Rage 4/Shredders Revenge..but no...they are too bothered with Megadrive revivals..

AC games have been trash since Black Flag. I got AC Valhalla for "free" on PS plus subscription and couldn't make it past the first 45 minutes of overwhelming mediocracy.

the issue with Tsushima is that animations are context sensitive, always a bad thing if you want depth, semi randomised animations, which isn't great for getting a feel for combos, and the stances are not only straight up designed to defeat certain enemies but also the game will literally pause the game if you dare to not use the most optimal stance too often (happened to me 3 times)

optimal stances that don't add any depth beyond giving you a straight up advantage are comparable to the color coded enemies in DmC which were rightfully slammed by fans of its genre.

also the auto targeting even if you don't lock on is really bad, it just feels like ass and sometimes you will auto lock to an enemy that you don't want to fight.

then there are the boss fight duels, which are honestly a joke, the fighting system that already has basically no depth gets stripped down even more during those
This is the tutorial. It happens the first time you "fail" to use a newly unlocked stance against a specific enemies. I like sword combat so I never used the kicks and the game never forced me to do so or paused anymore after the tutorial.

I think the combat system is good enough and gives you plenty of tools to have your own style. You aren't forced to use optimal stances, and the game gives you a lot of weapons to change the flow of combat like bombs, aoe arrows, smoke, special attacks, instant counter after perfect parry. I even prefer the auto lock system and I didn't activate the lock on in the options menu, but I guess it'sjust a preference.

Stealth on the other hand is pretty barebones and uninteresting and it totally needs to be overhauled.

Duels are basically collectibles or story related, they are hardly an extension of the combat system. They are pretty much a more cinematic fight or a fully interactive scene, but in game logic they have the same weight of sanctuaries, foxes, flags, hot springs, etc...

Ghost 2 by a landslide, but I'm actually looking forward to what's next for AC and I haven't been there for over a decade. Code Red sounds good on paper but I'm not a fan of the RPG direction of the series.

At the end of the day, we're likely getting very different games.

Similar to when both Sekiro and Nioh 2 were revealed during E3 2018, with Ghost of Tsushima already on its way there was a lot of talk about feudal Japan period saturation, but then all those games turned out exceptional in their own right and did really well.

I know one company makes decent games while the other makes shitty store fronts/casinos. Other than that I haven’t seen anything.

Depends on the kinda AC game we get I guess. If you're playing as a Ninja in the older style AC games then it could be pretty cool, but if its anything like the recent ones then Ghost 2 all the way. Recently tried Origins & Valhalla after a break from the series and they were an uninteresting chore to play.

Liked AC back in the day but never touched another one since black flag. GOT was more of the same for me. I found it very boring. Especially since I played Sekiro right before it.

Ghost of Tsushima is a great historical game I think 2’s message will be clear, show samurai’s to the common people.

Tsushima.

Every AC game after Unity starts great for me, but I ended up hating.

I have zero trust in current Ubisoft.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
AC will almost certainly do much better commercially.

Critically will be a toss-up.

Ima be honest I really love the different places the assassins creed series has taken place in the engine looks solid. I'm just not into the whole assassins thing I'm kinda over it with the first few installments. If they made anything else like a farming simulator different storyline that didn't have to do with the series I'd be more interested
