Ubisoft Will Be at E3 2023 & Will Have "A Lot of Things to Show"

Today, during its financial conference call for investors and analysts, Ubisoft's executives pledged that it'll attend E3 2023, as long as it happens.

Answering a direct question on whether the publisher would attend E3 2023, chief executive officer Yves Guillemot was quite clear in mentioning that the company isn't giving up its support for E3, albeit he did add a caveat.

"Yes. If E3 happens, we will be there and we will have a lot of things to show."

E3 2023 is currently scheduled to be hosted at the traditional Los Angeles Convention Center between June 13 and June 16, 2023. At the moment, the ESA, which organizes the show, has not provided any hint that it might be canceled. The show was canceled in 2020 and 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while it was hosted exclusively online in 2021. Other major game shows like Tokyo Game Show and Gamescom have returned in-person respectively in Japan and Germany in 2022.

Among the "lot of things to show" it's quite likely that Ubisoft will showcase the "yet-to-be-announced large game" that Guillemot himself and CFO Frédérick Duguet have teased during the same conference call without providing further details.

Among the games in the pipeline for 2023, Ubisoft also has Assassin's Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and The Crew: Motorfest. Those don't yet have firm release dates, and unless they're released before E3, it's quite likely that they will be part of the company's lineup.

The company has recently announced a shift of focus on AAA games and live service games, alongside its mobile strategy, which the executives reiterated during the conference call. This led to the cancellation of several unannounced games on top of another delay of Skull and Bones. With today's announcement, if E3 does happen this year, we may get more clarity on Ubisoft's future.

So Ubisoft is going to be at E3 with lots to show. Which may include a game that was also vaguely teased during this same conference call. I do wonder why the CEO brought up the word "IF" given how much E3 has been promoting its return, unless theirs some news they may not have enough exhibiters to go on with the event, but I doubt that. Might just be Ubisoft CEO being cryptic as usual.

I wonder if more third-parties will take Ubisofts lead for participating in E3 this year.

Ubisoft has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that it will be returning to E3 this summer.

There was confusion over the Assassin's Creed publisher's plans after CEO Yves Guillemot said his company would be there "if E3 happens," as reported by VG247.

E3 2023 is being organised by GamesIndustry.biz parent ReedPop. Lance Fensterman, president of ReedPop, told IGN in a statement that E3 would still happen and is "full speed ahead."

When asked for clarification, a Ubisoft spokesperson told GamesIndustry.biz: "E3 is a special moment for our industry and we are excited to showcase our strong line-up in Los Angeles in June.

"We are still finalising the details of our plans and look forward to sharing more soon."

Frontiers of Pandora please!
That game was announced in 2017. Goddamn.

Anyway, you'll definitely see some AC Mirage and maybe some Splinter Cell Remake gameplay here. The Red project seems like a mid-late 2024 release, and they won't want to take too much shine from Mirage. The Star Wars project? Well, it was announced more than 2 years ago, so maybe. But Massive is barely getting this Avatar game out, so who knows.

Nothing much else of significance they've got coming as far as can be imagined.

I only care for the new big ac rpg and far cry, if they fixed combat in both, if not, fuck em.

Avatar could be interesting if i can mod out those ugly blue aliens from the game.
