Great analysis on old vs new corporate software development and business practices, and it's effect on modern game development. Especially the hit to 'R&D' and 'strived in innovation' because of SaaS.

eh, don't like how he started simping for T2 at the end tho. Red Dead Online wasn't exactly a paragon of success either

I love the ". . .and fall" of CDPR line in there. CDPR isn't dead and their position in the industry - despite them releasing a game on platforms that could not play it (I notice pretty much ALL the CP77 footage is from the older generation consoles; nice "representation" of the actual overall state of the game) - isn't likely to be THAT affected long term. W4 and whatever else they do with CP77 is going to do big bidness.

. . .overall though, what is the point of this (old) video? That software companies rely on software and repeated hits on that software? That in the age of mobile distractions, multimedia developers have to get creative with their ROI's? Like the intro of the video makes it seem like some great point is going to be made and it ends up just being a financial review of major game studios and their constant chase to appease shareholders. News at 10.

Turns out mobile games are actually gonna kill consoles...

Just not the way we thought they would 🤣 (SaaS design fundamentally was born around that time)
