I may very well be in the minority but I think if Halo would have gone full BR I would have played that more than I did InfiniteIt's 2022, the age of battle royales.
Bring back motherfuckin' M.A.G !
That's a REALLY, REALLY good question. Holy shit...smhWhy am I picturing Tom Warren jerking off to this
Valheim, Scorn, High On Life, Warhammer 40K Darktide, Stalker 2, Ark 2, the list goes on. Anyone saying MS haven't been doing that shit too is just straight up wrong.Yup. You’re telling me SE just couldn’t be bothered to release a PS version of Octopath Traveller?
With Bethesda he was clear that they will look at games on a case by case basis.
With Activision he has very clearly stated he will keep CoD (and maybe other) new games on PS platforms too.
Comparatively Bungie and Sony have been vague about which platforms they'll continue to make games for.
Phil is no saint but he is hardly to blame for half the stuff people throw at him, especially as other figureheads say similar or even more vague stuff.
They haven't been vague at all.
https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/50988
"We remain in charge of our destiny. We will continue to independently publish and creatively develop our games. We will continue to drive one, unified Bungie community. Our games will continue to be where our community is, wherever they choose to play."
Stop bullshitting.
I appreciate the enthusiasm but nowhere does it say Bungie games will continue coming to Xbox forever, like how the poster I quoted initially wanted Phil to commit about Call of Duty being on PS forever.
In neither of your articles, mind you.
Please @ me when such a statement is found to rub it in my face.
If he believed his own bullshit he’d come out and say CoD is on PS forever like Sony did with Bungie
Dude, stop being so dense. You even said yesterday that they only mentioned Xbox for Destiny 2 and now another user is showing that the same goes for future release. They never mentioned PC too, does that mean future Bungie titles wont come to pc?Ctrl+f "Xbox"

Let me remind you, this is where this started:
I have yet to find this mythical Sony statement about keeping Bungie games on Xbox forever by name.

Funny enough you even accepted the same article as a confirmation of the Bungie games coming to xbox, but this somehow changed.Doesn't it make more sense that with their renewed PC push, acquiring Nixxess and such, "multi platform" means PC and PS5 ?
They've quite directly said as much:

Jim Ryan Confirms Nixxes Acquisition Was to Help Port PlayStation Titles to PC - PlayStation LifeStyle
SIE CEO Jim Ryan confirms the latest developer to join the PlayStation Studios family, Nixxes Studio, is for the purpose of porting PlayStation titles to PC.www.playstationlifestyle.net

I'm not being any more or less dense than all the stuff people say about Phil here and it seems to be handwaved.
Somehow i've never seen that article before.
Thanks!

I know right, even if you consider that he had the same talking point months ago and got linked to the same interview, which he accepted. But what can you expect from someone who thinks that the UK Gov got their talking points from Jim Ryan.Man is desperate to seem like he has a point lmao
It literally says “whatever platform they are on.”Ctrl+f "Xbox"

You are extremely dense since you seem to have changed your mind based on peoples take about Spencers word (which i guess makes some sense considering your tag)
It literally says “whatever platform they are on.”
I am sure it has nothing to do with contracts that are already in place. That Phil, such an advocate for all gamers.Phil has sent a signed document to sony that he will keep CoD on PS platforms for years.
I love that you quoted the post where I'm thanking the person for sharing the article as a gotcha
I also love that you are accepting the vague, platform-less, wording from the Ryan article but when Spencer directly names platforms, it's bullshit![]()
Phil's words are ironclad when it comes to this. He has no choice. Where I find Phil's words to fall short is when he says one thing and actions go a different direction. I was one of the people that got laugh emoji'ed by a certain group when I thought CoD would stay on Playstation indefinitely based on how much money it would generate for MS. We are starting to see that it will only be on there as long as it is contractually obligated. I am tired of falling for the "awe-shucks, I want games on all platforms" Phil talk. I'm good if he wants to keep games Xbox exclusive. Just stop pretending to be an advocate for open platform gaming so I can stop falling for it.Also, not once have i said that Spencers words were bullshit regarding the platforms. Nice try, i guess?
To be fair, game developers say a lot of stuff that turns out to be bullshit. This game will never have microtransactions, no buying power in the store shop, all future Halo games will have split-screen co-op, Mass Effect ending won't be a A, B, or C choice. The list goes on.
Nobody’s going to say shit if Bungie go PS/PC only. Which I can totally see happening. To be fair, game developers say a lot of stuff that turns out to be bullshit. If the next big Bungie game in a few years launches and is PS5/PC exclusive, what would the impact realistically be? Some angry youtube and twitter comments? Oh the horror.

Did you read the image or nah?so they talking about destiny 2 like Minecraft still being on PS as it was before they got bought?
There ultimate goal would be to get gamepass on PlayStation.Seems a pretty coherent strategy - it makes sense to wait out this gen and deny the competition out the gate when it's time for new hardware, make it a big part of the marketing that they're the only place to go for CoD etc. Stops people defaulting to PS6.
I know while Mike Ybarra was still at Xbox those talks about getting Gamepass on PlayStation had happened more than once but Sony was not fond of the ideaThere ultimate goal would be to get gamepass on PlayStation.
I think Microsoft envision a hardware agnostic future, they would let ps extra/ps app on cloud + Xbox.
Yes some people will choose a PlayStation service over xbox's, but there thinking is if they can grow the installbase into a few billion there enough install base for both Xbox + PlayStation to grow substantially.
I think the console market will be less important as time goes on. Playing on the big TV at home at a high quality will always be a big part of the Industry and this area will grow, but I think it will head to how Netflix works, device agnostic. When the billions of smartphone players realise they can play console quality games it will draw a lot of them into TV gaming aswell.I know while Mike Ybarra was still at Xbox those talks about getting Gamepass on PlayStation had happened more than once but Sony was not fond of the idea

There'll be a game pass app on PS hardware within the next 2 console generations.
All Phil is doing is saying what the regulators want to hear until the deal is finalized and then we will see his true intentions. People are all eyes of CoD when Activation Blizzard has many other IPs(single player games) that would be just as damaging to the industry if MS makes them Xbox only when they were previously multiplatform. This is gangsta as shit. He's basically confirming it's going exclusive? Or just that they won't give Xbox any kind feature or content perks until after the agreement? Either way, that tells you his confidence in the deal closing right there.
https://www.theverge.com/2022/9/2/2...station-letter-commitment-activision-blizzard
“In January, we provided a signed agreement to Sony to guarantee Call of Duty on PlayStation, with feature and content parity, for at least several more years beyond the current Sony contract, an offer that goes well beyond typical gaming industry agreements,” says Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer in a statement to The Verge.
I don't see it. If Game Pass becomes so successful that Sony will allow it on a Playstation console I believe it would mean MS has moved away from traditional consoles due to that success. There'll be a game pass app on PS hardware within the next 2 console generations.
Phil just wants more choice for Xbox/PC gamers (trademark)
Probably the last couple of installments but as overall, the value each IP holds and the recognition? No Destiny is not more successful than Halo.Destiny is far more successful than Halo, the game you brought up

I actually don't think that makes sense unless it is the exact same program. I don't see Sony allowing MS to let gamers to rent 3rd party titles on Game pass over renting or selling them in their own store. If MS only rented their 1st party titles there really would be no reason for an Xbox console at all and I'd hate to see a console future with only Sony consoles. It would also eliminate the purchase option of Game pass. There'll be a game pass app on PS hardware within the next 2 console generations.

I give the dude this, he has the gift of silver tongue lol. No way MS green lit almost 70 billion dollar buy out just to make the competition money.
He's done it because of concessions they have to adhere to to keep regulators happy.I am sure it has nothing to do with contracts that are already in place. That Phil, such an advocate for all gamers.

damn , jimbo taking a stand against uncle phil
