I still want to try it, gameplay seems fun to me. What are the reviewers complaining about?

I'm genuinely surprised due to how glowing their preview praise was...Ign gave it a 4. Lol
This is kind amusing given their preview videos generally seemed positive.Ign gave it a 4. Lol
I don't like to say it, but the upside to this is that the game will drop to somwhere below the 15€/15$ threshold within a short amount of time.![]()

You're definitely on the right track here. I also loved Gungrave GORE. This is more complex than that. This will satisfy my current taste just like Gungrave Gore. Early 90s Liefeld, 80s italo and hard Shinobi PS2 gameplay.![]()
This game has enticed enough to scoop up a PS4 soon. Gungrave, Evil West and Wanted all tied the knot. Developers should have courage to create more games like this. You're definitely on the right track here. I also loved Gungrave GORE. This is more complex than that.
Seriously, I need to get Evil West as well. It does look good. This game has enticed enough to scoop up a PS4 soon. Gungrave, Evil West and Wanted all tied the knot. Developers should have courage to create more games like this.

what the fuck is this voice acting?? Alright, this shit went from not interested, to maybe intersted, to wishlist, to wait for big sale, to never touch.
Im not going to rest until I master it. I have a ways to go. Feels like you really have to play the way they intended, in a good wayOkay, I'm about 3 hours into it, I like it, I like it a lot. This game isn't jank at all, in fact it feels quite polished and more like an over budget AA game. What appears jank is by design, deliberate blemishes. With clear attempts to capture 80s - 90s action games/films in terms of dialogue and caricature characters. This is complimented by under performance voice acting, vintage background art/logos/posters, a soundtrack that takes you back to that era, a really cool 1984 Maserati Police car, and much more. This game has style. I've only beaten the first boss.
In terms of gameplay, it seems layered enough for my tastes. I did spend time in the training area to understand how to make the most of it. The game isn't easy at all, and if you're just trying to hack and slash your way through this, you will have an awful time. Parrying and handgun counters are incredibly important here, while using the limited button combos (learnt in training) you'll break down enemy guards/limbs easily. Bullet Time is super useful when you're surrounded, using it in a dire situation then immediately chaining 4-5 finishers in a row is super satisfying. Skill tree unlocks pretty quickly it seems, at least it feels as if I've unlocked the most useful components to enhance the fun.
The story isn't all that interesting, so far, but what is interesting is how it's being told. I encountered an animated cut scene and the way it was triggered implies there is a separate story to be unfolded here. Concurrent story lines maybe? Not sure, but I'm intrigued. I really like how it's all presented here.

Did you beat the ninja yet?I suppose you can approach it any way you want, but I found that at least in the early sections the game encourages you to be aggressive. Limited cover space, limited ammo, getting shot from every angle and forcing you to close the range on the enemies. There seems to be a lot of different animations for finishers, too.

I figured. Just wondering if you're landing the parry on him or just rushing him with attacks. He seems bullet proof also.Yeah, you'll encounter the ninja at least twice before the first boss, I believe. He is just another enemy type that hits hard.

Holy shit yes! Thats exactly what it reminds me of

Yeah, I have the dodge roll. I can land the handgun parry easily, has a large window. I don't regularly have melee parry down yet. And I'm still trying to work out recognizing the openings for the finishers. Sometimes it's a little hard to tell when they're stunned vs. dying.Parry window is much tighter with the ninja, I moved and dodge rolled (skill tree unlock) a lot with him. But landing a parry is huge because it staggers him hard, handgun counter is easy though because of the visual cue.
It's kind of a unique situation honestly. Enemies are not super intelligent, so it doesn't seem like it would be that hard. But the bullets do a lot of damage, and there's usually a steady stream of gunfire everywhere. If you sit in cover you'll have a grenade tossed your way usually in a few seconds making you move. Your guns don't do insane damage, enemies might be cyborgs - not sure. Closing the distance to use melee can sometimes get you shredded, but usually their aim isn't too insane. Every enemy basically has access to some unblockable attacks, but they're telegraphed and you must parry. You don't have a real block like Ninja Gaiden, and instead have to basically parry to block anything. The difficulty mostly comes from high damage from most attacks, low ammo, and trying to play correctly to make it to the next checkpoint before running out of supplies. I don't know if the enemy AI is more challenging later on.Seeing "the game is hard" come up a lot. For reference, what is this game comparable to in terms of difficulty?
Look out Barry Burton, there's a new voice actor in town.
Same here man lol. Level 1 is a bit dark and it's initially kind of challenging to tell where enemies are. I usually run and slide into cover. Try and pick one or two enemies off at range, and then try to close the distance on 1 or 2 for melee then get back in cover. Re-assess, then repeat. I died multiple times on level 1 and I don't suck at action games lol. I was having fun the whole time though, but I clearly need to improve. I never tried just going full kamikaze and running in, as I like using all the game's systems. When I get some free time I'm going to be looking for some skilled players putting up videos to try and learn what I'm doing wrong.Ended up getting it. Only tried it for a little bit but... Game's fun! Lots of jank for sure but it's nice to be chopping limbs left and right, and so far it's been running buttery smooth on my PC. (5800X + RTX 3070)
Only thing is that I'm not so sure about what's the ideal way to play it. I've been shooting at first to deal with one or two enemies, then rushing the remaining ones to deal with them on melee. Seems to be working more or less but I still die.
Also, some enemies are either smart or very annoying, as they'll place themselves behind the group. Are they flanking me or did that happen by chance?
This has been my experience with the game so far:

Yep, we are definetly playing in the same way. I started "dying" often but after a few shootouts things started going smoother. So far it seems that you always get replenished on resources after one or two encounters thanks to that drone, so it's smart to make use of everything you have.Same here man lol. For sure! I think I started doing better once I was able to roll. Blocks are just one hit, and you get kinda stunned after that if you don't do a perfect block. There seem to be upgrades that help with that tho, at least to block twice instead of once.Getting the role helps, and the damage reduction, and the grenade, and the block enhancement. I definitely need to hit training mode and just practice the blocking and parry. It's a weird system. I think you can block 1 hit? I'm not entirely sure how that works just yet. Only played briefly last night. Can't truly dig in until this weekend.
I read he can do 1 revive per area or something. So this dude was coming at me with a knife, which suddenly reminded me of that scene in Indiana Jones were he shots at some dude that was doing some crazy shit with his sword. I tried to pull that off, blew one of the dude's arms but apparently that's not enough to put them down, as this one-armed fella still kept fighting. Cool shit, wasn't exoecting that.

By the way, do you know how being revived by Doc works? Does it happen a limited number of times or what? That has me confused.

Yeah can confirm, I read that on one of those tips you get when you die.I read he can do 1 revive per area or something.
Lol. Anyone willing to share their own gameplay? The consoles have made it really easy so....any takers?Could some of you share videos of your own playthrough?
Would be good to see in deciding.
Not available on Eneba nor on cdkeys (for the Xbox at least), the only way of playing this apparently is spending the full 60 which - at least for me - is not gonna happen anytime soon, the price is way, way more expensive than it should be considering the product's overall quality (or lack thereof).
And then these companies wonder why their lackluster products don't sell well, I mean, shit, you just produced/put on the market a AA jankfest that only a few nerds like us will be interested in and then proceed to sell it at a stupid price AND on a crowded release date, absolutely zero self awareness, talking about shooting yourself in the foot, the mind boggles...
If this was priced fairly, it'd have been an insta-buy just to satisfy my curiosity but at 60, shit, I might as well get Hogwarts legacy, Dead Space or even the critically panned Callisto protocol ffs.
These idiots gambled and it'll backfire on them, I'm pretty sure they thought "better sell at full price to the "hardcore" demographic" than selling it at a lower price altogether.
101 games/Soleil, I'll keep my 60 for Re4 Remake thank you very much

Thank you! Appreciate it!If and when a steam key is available to buy online I'll giveaway a copy on GAF, I'm loving this game so much right now. Devs should be supported when they gamble on games like this, and buying it full price goes a long way.
Here is a clip just for you of me stringing together finishers, will mostly work on low level enemies but it's so nice pulling it off.
