It did better than Day After Tommorow's first weekend (Which even had a bank holiday to help it) and should probally over-take it soon too. 100 mil is pretty good.

If the first number you're seeing for Harry Potter was $92 mil, then you would have every right to think that it's great, but after seeing Fridays original estimates, you're going to hear many people say that $92 mil is dissapointing.

Fridays original estimated gross was $41 mil (the second highest grossing day ever, and highest grossing friday). Saturday's gross dropped 18% (most movies rise on Saturday, very few drop more than 10%), and Sundays estimated drop was 27%, which is likely going to be even worse when actuals come out.

Box Office Games

For those of you interested, these are some really fun games where ou try and predict the box office. It might be too late to register for the summer game (though u can do movielines at any time), but there should be a new game in the fall.

Also how do you guys think riddick will fair at the box office? I hope and pray that it isn't as bad (quality wise) as Pitch Black.

It wasnt a worldwide release like Day After Tomorrow and Harry Potter

How many near-$100M movie-debuts does this make for the summer? We've still got Riddick and of course Spider-Man 2 on the way. 2004 will end up the highest grossing year for the industry of all time - and may very well stay that way for quite a bit. This is an incredible summer.
