The times when I've given GAF a break are when the console warring is kicked up a notch, and that can be from any team. It's like hearing the same old jokes, pulled from the same old dusty book.
I'm a developer, not an amazing one, but I like to keep abreast of many different fields. Gaming is, in my mind, a whole other mindset. It's quite amazing at times, the things teams (not just devs, it's so much more multidisciplinary now) can pull out of the bag is amazing, and still somehow keep a stable-ish framerate. It's a shame then that such an interesting field, with such challenges in it, is mired by so many immature overgrown schoolchildren.
When GAF talks about games, either old or new, and discusses their enthusiasm for the games, I think it's great. When it's drive by comments and low effort "should have played it on $platform" type dreck - not so much.
