So serious question, why does everyone hate Cody now?
I used to wonder when he became popular because I only knew him from his WWE days, and he was just kind of meh. I still feel the same, and also feel he has awful tattoo tastes. As for everyone else, I can't really tell if he is getting heat heat or the just go away kind.

Cody is a good wrestler. But he does have extremely terrible decision making ability when it comes to Tattoos. I don't know why by my 11 year old daughter loves Cody. Probably her favorite wrestler.

I just find it a little odd. He's literally one of the founding guys of this (very popular) company, and generally seems to say and do all the right things. Everyone seems to respect him as a wrestler- were all outraged when he was treated like crap in WWE and supported the hell out of him for being instramental in putting together All In, followed by AEW, seems to have booked himself very humbly in AEW despite being one of "the bosses". (took himself out of AEW title consideration, had a not too long run with TNT title and shrewdly passed it along to another in need of a push, etc, and kind of has been firmly mid-card since and right now is doing work to really legitimize Malakai Black in AEW)

Yeah, he's got an ugly tattoo and goofy reality show, but I still don't understand why he's starting to get Xpac or "Roman Reigns as a face" heat for pretty much just existing.

Granted, I'm sure AEW will be very un-WWE-like and smartly spin him as a heel shortly (and not just insist he's the biggest face in the company for years despite getting crapped on), but I can't help but be a little baffled, unless I'm missing something..

The other 3 EVPs are heels, Cody might as well be one too.

I don't think he has go away heat though, people just want to boo him, especially when he's against someone that's really over like Black.

You guys might actually like Cody's reality show. I watched the 1st episode.
Half of the show is behind the scenes stuff of AEW - since Cody and his wife are main managers backstage. Very interesting seeing the coaching and manager side of the AEW people you only know from their TV character.

You got to see some rehearsals of matches. Also got to see when the doctors and Tony Kahn talked to Ricky Starks about his neck injury and how Cody helped him with his promo being that he wont be in ring for awhile. Brandy had to try to settle a dispute with Red Velvet and Jade. Darby Allin looks and sounds like a completely different bloke off character.
So the show is not all worthless at home crap (only half of it :messenger_grinning: ).

I got to hear all about the Vagina and decide my 11 year old can't watch the show. unless I forward that part of the episode. She can probably handle it, and it isn't a bad thing....it just seems like a dumb bit to put on camera.

I DVRd it and fast forwarded thru all the family bits.
I do really like seeing the behind the scenes stuff though. I didnt realize that QT guy was such a big part backstage.

I'm guessing a lot of AEW fans think he's just the latest Triple-H or Double-J and hate him just like they hated those 2. (When originally they liked those guys. Come on, American Dweem was hilarious.)

So it turns out WWE have lied to me, and they led me to misremember an incident.

Just watched the Jan 4, 99 Nitro and Raw and all the clips they show of that date (Mankind wins the belt for the first time) doesn’t have JR on the call saying Ms Foleys Baby boy has done it.

It’s Michael Cole and King, and Cole is terrible. They alluded to JR being sick multiple times on the last shows of 98 which makes me think it was actually Cole and all the other clips with JR were added in after.

My mind is blown after hearing it so many times for it to not happen today.

While the pop from the crowd was massive still, it felt like it was missing that iconic JR reaction to really elevate it to where it should have been.

Also the rest of Raw really sucked, why did WCW feel like spoiling that, (and causing the ratings shift) instead of all the bullshit prior to that?

If they said Mark Henry 3some and Terri miscarried people probably wouldn’t have switched over. Only Road Dogg/Snow and Mankind/Rock was worth watching. The rest was trash.

Bischoff thought he was being smart, but it backfired, big time.

I just don’t get how he thought Cactus Jack ( a workhorse and revolutionary at his time in WcW) was worse than a transvestite 3some and A Terri Runnels miscarriage, as they were both heavily featured on that pretaped Raw.

Why did they choose to focus on the 1 good thing out of that Raw instead of all the garbage before it?

Also for the trivia buffs it’s the 1st time we see Charlotte and we see a lot of her standing behind her dad in his promo.

He just wanted to spoil a title change and thought people wouldn't want to see Foley winning it. He was wrong.

I like the idea of Impact investing in their future trying to get some bigger names again but Braun? I'm not sure what he could bring other than his size. Rumors also have Buddy Murphy and Bray to Impact as well. I think those are wiser investments. In the meantime put the damn Impact title on Daniels. 15 years too late but it's better late than never.

I don't know if the sentiment is hate so much as it is apathy. Cody is a perpetual mid card guy both in mic and wrestling and that's never really going to change. The Miz to me is the absolute mid card guy that the company put too much stock into, not big enough or talented to be a leading star as a wrestler, Cody being the AEW's Miz I think is the perfect call.

The direct boo's though.... Cody has gotten really stale with Arn in that dipshit sweater and coaching pamphlet he caries around like he's fucking Andy Reid just needs to stop and thankfully it did. It made Cody look inferior always needing to be helped and also never evolved after far too long. At this point Cody's presence means we're missing somebody else likely newer, younger, and more exciting.

Yep. Tamina as well. They do tend to keep some woman around for a long while though. Alicia Fox and Rosa Mendes were there for ages.

Tamina/Natalya are the epitome of not belonging outside of generational ties. Neither has charisma nor brings any juice inside or outside of the ring, they are the absolute nadir in any WWE show I watch.

Ugh, I really wanted Omega/Bryan 2 at Full Gear since I’ll be there. I truly don’t get the Hangman love. I find him average at best in every facet of wrestling, average at best in the ring and on the mic.

i get this is where stuff was building, but Hangman just doesn’t belong in the main event scene yet with all the signings of the last year. He belongs in that tier below the main event with PAC, Andrade, Black, and Moro while they elevate each other up to the next level.

Full gear was supposed to be my Wrestlemania level main event hype, and has quickly turned into sadness with tonight’s result.

It's their biggest storyline. One they've arguably been building since Omega and Hangman started teaming years ago. I'm cool with it headlining the show. Hangman should be the one to beat Omega.

You can do Omega/Danielson at some point later without the title, them having had a draw builds that.

Yep - Hangman's story goes back even further than that though - to the very beginning of AEW with Hangman losing the Championship to Jerico. Long form storylines are cool to see.

As an alcoholic who also watches wrestling I think Cowboys drinking gimmick is one of the most hilarious there was before he disappeared from being a prominent figure.

Would agree Omega/Bryan was the best match I can recall watching in so very long and that should be top choice but I have to imagine this might be Tony booking one of his younger studs to keep him satisfied as he has been such a nonfactor for awhile, dunno if it was injury or what.
