X-Men: Fatal Attractions was one of the most gutsy/stupid changes to a comic series ever

X-Men was at the absolute peak of it's popularity in the early 90's. The franchise was having soaring success in video games, merchandising. A popular animated kids show.

Then....... This happened in 1993. That changed the series in dramatic ways that would take many years to recover after fan backlash.

In a fit of rage Magneto rips the adamantium lacing Wolverines skeleton from his bones. As a result Professor X mindwipes Magneto leaving him in a coma.

What happens afterwards to Wolverine is well........... this..

After having his adamantium ripped Wolverine becomes more feral in his behavior and basically became some weird fucking troll for years. Everybody hated it. In one arc X-Men fundamentally changed two of it's most popular characters, Magneto and Wolverine.

When Magneto wakes up from a coma he has no memory of who he used to be and goes by the name of Joseph and actually joins the X-Men at one point. His personality is completely different and is more akin to his Age of Apocalypse persona. By this point Magneto had been missing in the comics for years after getting mind wiped.

I don't think we will ever see anything like this ever again. Even looking back it's baffling why a series would make such dramatic changes at the peak of it's popularity.

One More Day fucked up Spider Man for all time.
Which was a result of him unmasking in Civil War.
Because of Tony Stark.

Marvel writers are morons.

What they tried to retroactively do with Gwen Stacy was pretty bad to. Also when they tried to turn PP into Tony Stark.

This was the golden age of X-Men. This led to Onslaught and Zero Tolerance!
