Are they ever going to update the achievements system? It’s been a regular insider request for years.

Not for testing in the alpha ring, and I don't know if they are going to update it.

You are? It always seemed to me you just reposted links to articles already written and posted on other gaming sites.

Yes, I'm an insider from 2014. And yes, I share news and updates from others sites to here.

Hey Xbox Insiders! We have a new Xbox Update Preview coming to the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring. It’s important we note that some updates made in these preview OS builds include background improvements that ensure a quality and stable build for Xbox consoles.

Known Issues

We understand some issues have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes. These items aren’t being ignored, but it will take Xbox engineers more time to find a solution.

We’re still tracking these known issues:

Audio

  • Some users have reported that they are not hearing any audio with Dolby Atmos enabled.
  • We’ve received reports of issues with the Astro A50 headset not working correctly.
Dolby Vision for Gaming

  • Some TVs do not support Dolby Vision at 120 Hz currently and will fall back to either 60 Hz or HDR. We are working closely with TV manufactures to update firmware support for Dolby Vision capabilities. Go to Settings>General>TV & Display Options>4K TV details and look for “Your TV setup supports Dolby Vision”.
  • Users may notice that some titles such as Mass Effect: Legendary Edition might stop supporting Dolby Vision for Gaming after the initial release. This is expected while the feature is in Preview.
  • Some users have reported Dolby Vision for gaming not performing as expected.
    • Note: If you encounter an issue, please make sure to check the following:
      • Ensure the TV has the latest firmware
      • Use the Xbox-provided HDMI cable that was included with the console
      • Connect the TV directly to the Xbox and try to see if the problem still persists (i.e. remove any AVRs, Soundbars, HDMI boxes, etc.)
Edge (New)

  • Console browser links will not work if a user chooses the “new” browser version when prompted.
    • Workaround: Be sure to choose the “previous” version of Edge to ensure the page opens.
Games

  • We’ve received reports that controller input is not working when a game is launched.
    • Workaround: Reboot the console and relaunch the game.
Guide

  • We are investigating reports of the audio mixer being unable to adjust chat/game audio levels.
HDMI-CEC

  • We’ve received some reports that HDMI-CEC is not working correctly.
    • Note: Ensure that your TV supports HDMI-CEC and is also enabled before filing feedback.
Home

  • Some users have reported that the icon for a disc-based title is not appearing on the dashboard.
My Games & Apps

  • Titles in collection may incorrectly appear with a “trial” tag.

I’m in the preview, but after a while I decided to not get preview builds anymore. I like reading about them, but I found the number of bugs to be annoying, so I went back to the publicly released OS versions. I can turn the preview builds back on at any time, but I haven’t seen a reason too. I do like reading the notes though, so thanks for posting them.

This is probably why HDMI-CEC isn't working for me, hopefully this update fixes it.
This is frustrating. I moved my old Xbox One X to the bedroom and HDMI CEC works just as it's supposed to like it always had in my main setup. I can use a remote to navigate the dashboard and also Netflix and Disney.
The Series X HDMI CEC only has power on and power off. Thats it. Why? Why can't it work like on the XBONEX?
Maybe then they can get the Auto low latency to work along with VRR at the same time. Shiny new TV abilities in 2021 and Microsoft just drops the ball and kicks it into a storm drain. OH look known issues. yea we know the ball is in the drain but we can't be bothered to fish it out right now.
I owe a forum member a huge apology for the CEC post a year ago. They mention that CEC didn't work on the Series X and I was like BUT BUT BUT it works fine on the Xbone X your crazy. Turns out they were right all along.

My Series X CEC settings work for me with the power on/off. The controller stuff not being there isn't what is being mentioned in these notes, I think.. still sucks that that isn't a thing for those that use it. Maybe it's an HDMI 2.1 bug or limitation?

I just tried it and it's still not working. I can't even get power on/off. My TV doesn't detect it as a HDMI-CEC device for some reason.

Strange... Was working fine on my One S before I sold it.

Hope they get Edge working soon for that sweet sweet xCloud integration (if that's how it'll be done on console. Whether via Edge itself or if the chromium Edge will run xCloud as an "app" like a PWA type thing.

We’re still tracking these known issues:

  • Some users have reported that they are not hearing any audio with Dolby Atmos enabled.
  • We are receiving reports that users are getting distorted/crackling audio while playing games. We are aware and investigating.

Edge (New)

  • Pins related to the new Edge browser will not work if you decide to remove your console from the Xbox Update Preview.
    • Workaround: Pins should be deleted and re-added.

Today, we are excited to begin flighting a new firmware update for Xbox One controllers with Bluetooth support, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, and Xbox Adaptive Controllers that delivers next-gen features previously available only on Xbox Series X|S controllers, including better cross-device connectivity and reduced latency. We believe it’s important to maintain backward compatibility with Xbox accessories people already have in their collection and to ensure we deliver the best gaming experience no matter how you choose to play.

Better cross-device connectivity

These controllers now support Bluetooth Low Energy, which delivers better compatibility across devices and allows for better pairing experiences. You will be able to play wirelessly on Windows 10 PCs, iOS 15+, and Android devices with Bluetooth Low Energy for remote play from your console or cloud gaming with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on the go. After installing the firmware update, these controllers will remember one Bluetooth host (e.g., smartphone) and one Xbox Wireless host (e.g., Xbox console), so you can quickly and seamlessly switch between previously connected devices with a simple double tap of the pair button.

This level of compatibility and connectivity has become the norm for modern devices and accessories. Increasingly, the controller will be your common touch point to your Xbox games across devices. We are invested in expanding Xbox gaming beyond the console, so Xbox controllers need to work equally well on both Xbox consoles and Bluetooth devices and moving between all these devices needs to be easy.

Reduced Latency

With this firmware update, we are bringing to these controllers the innovation of Dynamic Latency Input (DLI). Dynamic Latency Input delivers controller inputs more efficiently to your Xbox Series X|S console for a more responsive gaming experience and seemingly instantaneous action.

We are excited to bring new software features to Xbox One controllers with Bluetooth support, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, and Xbox Adaptive Controllers that were previously available only on next gen Xbox Series X|S controllers. The firmware update is available to Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha users today, and will be available to additional flight rings in the weeks to come.

Thanks to all who participate in the Xbox Insider Program. If you’re not an Xbox Insider but interested in participating, you can download the Xbox Insider Hub and enroll in the Omega Ring to get started.
