Gaf, I am constantly amazed at the dedication that some fans have in making/modding/hacking that have the spirit of gameplay that you really enjoyed as a kid. Check out some of these and share some that you think are worth playing!
"Wait what? This is fanmade??" This is actually the video that made me make this topic. Fan made Gradius game that has all the gradius goodness that shows you why you love the shmup genre. As a huge gradius V fan, this was a great outing
Legend of Zelda 1 but in Gameboy style
Haven't had the chance to play this one yet, but for those who loved Link's Awakening, can't wait to try this
Rockman and Roll
Currently playing through this and love it! But it is HARD - Mega man plays like his Mega man 4 counterpart - but Roll is a mix of Mega man 2 (no slide) and Mega man 6 - a double jump akin to the jet pack in MM6. Love the idea that you're alternating between the different players. Similar to Mega man and Bass (Rockman & Forte)
Sonic Air - this one is fairly old and somewhat known, but pretty much the best way to play Sonic 3 + K - the best sonic game.
Mega Man All Quick man - A sillier hack, but all the bosses have been replaced with Quick Man.
