Oh cool, the hopper camera footage seems to show the area where your pod crashed and Elma woke you up.

Data Probes
The Frontier Net made up of Data Probes will automatically mine for things like Miranium, an all-purpose ore, and other ores and crystals called 'Rare Resources'. By finding Treasure Chests and completing quests, you will be able to upgrade the Data Probes functions.

icon_world04_probe_01.png

Mining Probe: Increases production, gathers more 'Miranium'.

icon_world04_probe_02.png

Research Probe: If you've found a hidden area or beautiful view in the areas surrounding this probe, you can gather tourism money.

icon_world04_probe_03.png

Battle Probe: Battling within the region surrounding this probe will give you various effects during battle.

icon_world04_probe_04.png

Storage Probe: Increases the amount of Miranium you can store.

icon_world04_probe_05.png

Strength Probe: Increases the effects of surrounding data probes.

I just realized that regular monsters don't leave those treasure chests anymore. Now treasure chests contain rare items with a special icon for the map. I think that was one of the issues with the current Xenoblade Chronicles with areas littered with treasure chests all over the place after battling lots of monsters and they actually stayed there (until it reached a limit) or you opened them. I think that change streamlines the process even further than Xenoblade Chronicles. That and faster action battles seem to be the major improvements to me.

man that probe buff system is deep. I can already see that being used for crazy low level vs high level monster madness on NG+

The Frontier Net functions and data probe stuff reminds me in some ways of the world map system in Resonance of Fate. Especially with the hex-design.

This is really good stuff. Thanks Streets!

As in... Heart-to-Heart? Awesome!

I love stuff like that. Hopefully there are plenty of them.

heart-to-heart was for the core party

affinity was quests given by NPCs who were too lazy or too shy to get their own relationships moving lol

I think we will have so much that people around here will moan endlessly about where can I find what's his name at 19:00hrs

Oh, I thought heart-to-hearts were classified as an affinity quest too =X

Damn it...

Oh well, I at least hope they are still in the game in some form...

I decided to watch some Treehouse footage, and notice they still are getting treasure from enemies. It may be auto-pickup? http://youtu.be/byajRMoh6BQ?t=22m16s

But the result screen does say "treasure box." I don't know what this means for quests or farming, but monster drops are still there.

in the first game heat to hearts where locations on the map were cut-scene would happen between party members a conversation would take place where you had a few options correct answers would raise affinity/closeness of friendship as they all mean the same it impacted how well you fought together in some ways I guess

anyway heart to heart is just core party affinity done as a cut-scene test with responses you chose you could also raise affinity by giving correct gifts as well to raise just like the wrong answers would drop levels the wrong gift to a party member would also drop the status

NPC affinity was quests based which was more like doing long string of things for them making deliveries or killing monsters, getting items

heart to heart was just finding the many cutscene locations and hope you responded correctly to everything at that spot

Tweets mean life:

No, he's just talking about Shulk's amiibo itself.

He seems to be impressed by the build quality, though I think it's better to just wait for a proper translation ;)

Ok, OP updated with the stuff from the website and their translation (thanks a lot StreetsAhead).

Now we just need translation for the tweets and the OP will be totally up to date :)

A rough translation:
[Takahashi] It's been about a month since I posted. The Shulk amiibo came out! I've been supervising this since the early prototype stages, but I'd like to say thanks to all the people who've worked very hard on the amiibo. I saw a production model at the start of this month and I was very impressed with the build quality. This time it's a Smash Bros. figurine, but I'd love for there to be a Xenoblade [amiibo] series sometime in the future, too.

KingSnake

The Birthday Skeleton
I really like the UI. There are a lot of things shown on the Gamepad and yet it doesn't seem to be too crowded.

And in the end, except for Lin, the characters are not that bad as first seemed.

Man, I hope there won't ever be a Xenoblade Amiibo line. Whether they are Melia, Fiora or naked Dunban or X's Dolls, Nintendo would hurt my wallet very badly.

Same. I've got a Toon Link, Shulk arriving tomorrow and a pre-ordered Ness and have made a solemn vow to buy no more, but if there's any chance of I'll be able to recreate the "can't make a rainbow without Reyn" exchange in amiibo form that'll be right out the window.

Something I still don't understand about this game are the playable characters.. at first I thought every character presented at the official site was in the party, but I don't think Van Damme or Nagi are, and at this point neither Ru. Would love to see more of the battle system, and the playable characters.
