Good god!

Such a beautiful game.... It's hard to wait until 'later this year'.
(Or does anyone know a way to learn Japanese in about a week or so?)

And as much as I dislike these comparisons to PS4/XBONE or even PC, I have to admit that I better don't try to imagine what the design team behind this game could achieve on more powerful hardware.

It's crazy how great this looks in motion in the end given one of the best looking games around that hardware range I've seen before is GTAV.

Not saying Xenoblade X does more or wanting to start a fanboy war by any means, but comparing the development teams I just want to say what Monolith Software accomplishes with the WiiU hardware here is no short of being impressive.

Please don't start that here.

But just to think about what they've could have done on a PS6 makes me cum hard in my own mouth.

Looks incredible. Considering it's on the Wii U it's even more impressive. I never played the first game and probably never will, but if I'm not too busy with something else when this releases, I may have to give it a go.

Also, the score sounds fantastic.

I always find technical discussion about this game to be silly. A huge open world title was never going to have the best texture quality on Wii U, and no Wii U game is going to be technically impressive unless compared to other Wii U games. It's all about that art direction and how much they're squeezing out of the little black box.

Are there any details about the story out? Monolith makes incredible stories and if this one's good I might just cave in and buy a WiiU. I've been without Xenosaga for too long.

Also, is this a direct sequel to Xenoblade?

Been saying that all along. People that complain about the bad textures or pop in are missing the point. That is the shit you are just going to have to put up with for a game world this big and open on this system.

Not a direct sequel. The gameplay is an iteration of Xenoblade Chronicles. But the story (premise) is more like an adaption of chapters 1/2 of Takahashi's vision of the Xeno series.

Yes. The surface story is basically Chapter 1/2 of Takahashis xeno story. It heavily mirrors the events shown in Xenogears intro fmv, that took place thousands of years before gears. The themes so far seem to be centered around the concept of the logos, and surpassing it, which gives us everything from Jesus to Jung to try and narrow down, and knowing takahashi, it will prbably involve just about every possible reference.

Direct sequel to Xenoblade? Yes and No.

Story wise... No, Xenoblade X is an actual Xeno game, while Xenoblade, while incredibly good, and with an appropriately deep story for having the xeno prefix... Clearly Isnt one of the 6 chapters Takahashi envisioned back with Xenogears.

The game will have nods, and teaser references, and maybe even be worked in with some side lore easter eggs, but no, its not a direct story sequel at all.

Gameplay wise though, its absolutely a spiritual sequel to Xenoblade.

Looks great, but the NLA cutscene should've been pre-rendered like the intro. The pop-in/LOD transitions were numerous and incredibly distracting.

This is suppose to be solved or at least addressed I think by the data packs that can be downloaded from the eshop. Suppose to make the game play like it's installed to the hard drive if you have the disc copy. I doubt those are out because the game hasn't officially launched I believe in Japan and pre-loaded versions wouldn't be unlocked just yet. They have at one or two more days I think.

Environment looks stunningly good but that "animeish" character design is seriously lowering my excitement. Hope the story will compensate it. Nevertheless I finally have title to buy for my Wii U

My few nitpicks:
1. Some vocal tracks are not very good (Battle music mainly). Having vocal tracks during battle was a poor design choice given how many vocal and sound effect cues there are for battles.
2. Can no one make a decent looking male avatar? The faces are very unappealing. (Applies less so for female chars) XC did faces and animation much better overall.
3. Why do the women prance around? It's some sort of stereotypical female thing, except that I've never seen anyone run like that.
4. Footsteps sound too loud and are somewhat distracting during night time music, but that could just be my headphones.

When I pick this game up, first thing I'm doing is removing Lyn from the party. What a godawful character design all around. Glad to see the combat is improved and more engaging, XC had rather boring combat.

Came in expecting something pervert regarding the swimsuit armors XD
Gotta resist, i don't want to spoil too much of the game before playing it...

Wow, that pioneer plaque is a really cool detail they added to give explanation to the story. I would have been fine if they never said how aliens found Earth, but it's cool to have an explanation.

This, right here is a prime reason, why I bought a Wii U, this is so hype!

It looks absolutely amazing, the first Xenoblade was amazing, absolutely the best JRPG of last gen, I know this one won't disappoint!

Is it just me or does Elma's face look better than in her reveal preview?

Its such a brutal opening message.

*Monolith soft brains storming session*
Hmm... Hey guys, whats the most positive idealistic iconic image of positive human idealism?

huh. Oh, Definitely the pioneer plaque, made to outreach a peaceful hand to any intelligent. life out there.

Yeah, lets punch that in the dick.

Opening scene: Pioneer plaque leads warring aliens to foolish naive earths destruction.

Seems like the running animation for female characters changes depending on whether they're wearing heels or flats.

It's really bizarre how the gameplay looks SO much better than the cutscenes do. Wonder why that is.

I'd love to see what Monolithsoft could do with a bigger budget/more powerful hardware.

I think its such a perfect example of showing without telling, you get everything you need from the first 30 seconds of the game.

There are multiple levels of cutscenes in the original xenoblade. Its probably the same here.

Leve 1: El cheapo
These cutscenes are little more than flapping mouth animations and stiff turning.

Level 2: Slightly better:
Eyes move, heads turn, some facial expressions try to be made.

Level 3: Holy shit.

Holy shit.

Torn over this game. Want to play it badly. But it's so time consuming... Maybe just this 1 game for the whole 2015...

The camera is zoomed further out, which prevents you from focusing much on low-quality assets/pop-in, and allows you to appreciate the scope and artistry of the world they've created better.

Yup, this is about right, especially when faces are on the screen, I remember when they show the mechs in that game falling or whatever, you actually feel the weight

dat moronic nintendo's region lock

This seriously. I would've imported already if I didn't need to import the console too.

Graphics are pretty rough but that's expected on this console, good art direction always wins for me.
