Why is it annoying? While other characters were wasting their off season time celebrating or scoring with chicks, Ramsay was grinding. His hard work paid off and now he has better stats and skills than anyone else. So he wins. It's only fair.

You do not get a buff for bare chest, that is a -10 armor score

It's one of the most popular shows of all time. Even if they lose a chunk of viewers it'll have more than enough to propel it through the last two seasons.

The emotional exhaustion will be forgotten in a year.

Eh, i don't agree. We've seen plenty of shows with huge ratings fall off cliffs when viewers lose interest. I mean it happens all the time.

I expect the season premier to do gigantic ratings to find out what's up with Jon, and if its confirmed he's dead you'll also probably see a big decline

Stannis must have had the shittiest army of all time, no wonder he lost.

They:

1. Let 20 good men destroy all their food/siege equipment/horses without a single one hearing anything
2. Didn't realize half of their fucking army deserted until mid-way through the next day
3. Couldn't see a gigantic fucking army until they were a few hundred feet away

He never stood a chance.

Julius Caesar's murderers believed they were doing an honorable thing.

For Aliser to have been involved with this attack, they would believe this too.

So I've never really understood people (either show watchers in the past or book readers now) who are paranoid about getting spoiled on forums. Why? Because entertainment journalists are a thousand times worse with this shit. One perfect example tonight comes from Vanity Fair.

http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2015/06/jon-snow-dead-game-of-thrones-azor-ahai-melisandre-warg

The title of the page is "Is Jon Snow Really Dead on Game of Thrones". Yet they still have the nerve (or idiocy) to begin the article by saying "there are big time spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 5, Episode 10, “Mother’s Mercy.” I’ve never been more serious about a spoiler warning. If you haven’t seen the finale yet, proceed with caution." This one is especially bad, but there are dozens more episodes like it in Google News with titles that are almost as leading.

I do feel sorry for people who are trying to remain spoiler free though, because I don't see how it's possible unless you don't read about movies or TV at all.

Reading the wiki for the books (I haven't read them, just a show watcher) and it's amazing how much of the nuance that led to Jon's death is missing.

I hated how it was done in the show, but I read through his wiki (WHICH DOESN'T HAVE THAT PIECE OF SHIT OLLIE) and it's like "Oh shit so a bunch of bad shit happens and it's all confusing and people are unsure..."

That's hysterical.

Hey, he's a brilliant military commander! He probably noticed but was too proud to tell the rest of his army. That's Stannis for you, proud to a fault. lol

I'm totally fine with everything that happened with Stannis this season except I don't get why he didn't get an on screen death.

#StannisLives?

Indeed. At this point it seems the books/show are diverging completely. You should read the books! Become one of us....

Yup, even Yahoo has MAJOR CHARACTERS DIE IN FINALE

Well then it's a shame he's too stupid to realize that he probably shouldn't have opened the door for Jon in the first place. Again, the idea is great! The execution makes no sense.

He killed Jon because he wanted to protect the watch from the wildlings... After he let the wildlings through.

It's like poetry.

That's hysterical.

As I said D&D care little for nuance and "details" anymore, they are just hitting the big plot points as quickly as they can. Jon gets stabbed, we don't need the viewer to get complicated Watch politics to lead up to it. Let's just have mean Ser Alliser and mad Olly do it. They hate him for letting stinky savages through the gate, good enough.

I feel as if at the end he had given up. He had basically lost everything - so wanted to at least go out in battle.

I understood that, I just think it's kind of funny how he got completely screwed over. My biggest issue with Stannis' storyline is how he went hero to zero in the span of like, 10 minutes of screen time.

Of course it would be slightly redeemed if he's still alive, but probably not.

Why would I do that? We're caught up now.

You are a dying breed.

You're the Jon Snow of Game of Thrones. You thought you had everything, but us watchers gotcha.

That's the vibe I got too I'll be honest. I thought Stannis realized he fucked up everything and was suicidal at the end. Not sure if that was their intent but that was how I interpreted his actions

But there's no way to be sure tho, this is why I think the threads should be kept separate next season.

-Victarion/Euron/Damphair
-The siege of Meereen could still happen
-The Dornish plot for revenge against the Lannister could be revealed
-Lady Stoneheart
-Sansa going back to the Vale and that whole Harry the Heir thing could still happen
-Arya after going blind

Edit: Yea I forgot about Kevan's death too.
Edit2: Oh and they could introduce Aegon's storyline too.

There's nothing major about Kevan. The only major about Aegon was it was majorly boring.

No way Sansa's going back to the Vale. She's heading to Winterfell in the books.

A siege could happen but anything could happen. If it happens, it'll be under entirely different circumstances.

Arya becoming not blind counts I guess.

It doesn't matter to me if there's two threads. But it seems a little unnecessary.

Was there two threads for each season of Walking Dead?
Searching for myself, it looks like there's one tiny 8 page spoiler thread for 3 years. While the main thread gets about 200 pages.

They were jumping from dangerously high and I got the impression in the book that they only reason they survived the fall was because it had been snowing so heavily the snow bank was especially deep. That essentially the same storm that had been helping Ramsay would now also facilitate their escape.

There's lots of footage of people falling insane heights into snow that's not spectacularly deep and surviving. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RYkapHBVs8#t=64

It was too late to do the "honorable" thing. Thorne taking part in the stabbing is actually completely out of left-field and goes against his own character. Not only did he show restraint and distance from the rest of the NW's miscreants previously and was accepting of Jon's commands despite misgivings, but he's a generally honorable man. He let his "mortal enemies" into his walls and killed the man they were loyal to. He doomed the Watch. That's stupidity. Now he's no different from the rebels at Craster's. There was no real build up to the stabbing in the show outside of Olly's dumb five minute stares. It all just got sweeped under the rug only to bounce right back up in that scene.

You have the most bare bones simplified version of the show, AKA the "Shirtless Ramsay, Olly Edition."

Like 90% of this thread is still complaints about how the show is different from the books, combining these two threads would be a mess.

They didn't show Syrio Forel's death onscreen, but he's clearly not coming back. Just one example that pops to mind because of the tinfoil brought on by the precap leak.

Syrio and Stannis are two different characters with wildly varying levels of importance.

Stolen from the Show-Only thread

I thought of this too. I was dying.

I thought it was being blown back to themselves, too. Perfectly encapsulates Dorne this season.

The show won't lose viewers, every season people say the same thing and viewers numbers keep increasing.

I'm just happy that I can finally get closure for this series, its being such a long wait for new books so I rather have the show.

Just finished the episode. Literally the most depressing episode of television I have ever seen.

And Ramsay surviving...just why? Like what is the purpose now that Stannis is dead? I'm just so pissed off that he hasn't had one consequence this season aside from Sansa and Reek escaping.

My biggest problem with the ep is Myrcella dying.

Also WTF is Trystane gonna do on the multi day (week?) voyage to kings landing now...

The show is like 40% of the book's content. Like you said yourself, nuance. Hints to other things here and there.

I was just making a suggestion if you wanted some more of the universe for the next 11 months.

Yup. The more I think about it, the more I'm sure that show-Jon definitely isn't dead. Otherwise, why would Melisandre have returned to the Wall? If she was just escaping Stannis' lost cause then she should have went back to Essos. Not the Wall.

She seems to be the only one besides Jon and Sam who truly understands the threat beyond the Wall, and we know that she sees something in Jon. Perhaps after Stannis' sacrifice failed to produce results she realized that Jon was truly Azor Ahai reborn and then decided to go back to the wall to help his fight against the Others. Maybe she even saw in her fires what he had coming (I believe this was hinted at in the book) and came back to work her magic. After all, it's already been established in the show that Red Priests can resurrect. Could also partly explain why they skipped Lady Stoneheart. Two undead main characters would have been too much. I definitely think book-Jon will survive through warging.

This would also explain Longclaw taking down an Other. Maybe it's not because of the Valyrian steel, but rather because it's Lightbringer with Jon wielding it.

eh, Myrcella's fate has been pretty sealed because of Cersei's prophecy. I do agree that the Dorne plot was pretty much crap.

Again as I said before, that's not proven true. Major shows have lost viewership before due to people losing interest.

Dany isn't all that popular it seems with non book readers, Jon seemed to be the de facto new favorite, Stannis is dead, Arya isn't even near anyone, Sansa's storyline is causing distaste and controversy, Jamie is on a random ass boat in the middle of the ocean, Tyrion isn't even in Westero's.

Who are show watchers supposed to root for at this point? It seems Jon was far and away the most popular person now, and the one show watchers were deciding to invest in due to his story finally really ramping up. If he's dead, I'm willing to bet there will be negative repercussions.

That said, I do hope and think he will probably return.

Did she tell him about the skulls and her other visions in the show? Or was the Mel-Jon interaction limited to her trying to get him to have sex with her?
