Hopefully with a gyroscope & a wired variant for competitive play. Of course, if the NX w/ the Base Dock supports the GameCube Adapter, that would be perfect for competitive Smash.Imagine a Pro Controller that says NX where Wii U used to be.

To paraphrase an earlier post.
There's nothing about a hybrid here, at last in terms of home console/handheld hybrid. The device as described is just a weird portable with an HDMI connection.
The sheer nature it would be off battery power and onto the mains would mean it'd get a little power-boost. Much like the ol PSP hardware did it (the OG hybrid!)
I've seen using Phone/Tablet to TV capabilities described as being hybrid, same with tablets like the Surface put into keyboard docks, and so on. I dunno what the semantic shit is all about unless some people put chips down heavily on "NOT A HYBRID", but, the jig is up.
I remember a time, decades distant, when I could loose a mighty screech of frustration and spike my SNES controller into the floor, and it would bounce back just fine.
Then the N64 with its weird trident controller came along. The extra weight and pointed bits meant you had to be a little more careful when you drop-kicked it into the drywall, but most of the time the only lasting damage to the controller was a couple of cracks and a grainy rattle.
Rightly afraid to alienate the millions of gamers who spent their weekends glued to their TV and intermittently shrieking "Why don't you eat THIS mushroom!" at Mario 64, the Gamecube's controller was less hefty than the N64's, if a little more brittle. Still, it could stand up to a couple good slingshots at the ceiling without disintegrating beyond repair.
Much of Nintendo's renewed goodwill was squandered with the release of the Wii, whose Wiimotes proved to be the perfect missiles to destroy your dad's new plasma screen, or work in tandem with the nunchuck attachment to fracture Grandpa's jaw during a heated game of Wii Sports. The controller itself was fairly durable, but nothing will unburn those bridges.
Then the Wii U arrived, and it was clear that Nintendo had cast off what little respect they still had for those among their loyal customers who occasionally needed to raise our controllers like Simba and then powerbomb them through the coffee table. You had to sell the whole system just to recoup the cost of a new gamepad!
Now, finally, we learn that Nintendo's contempt for their most passionate fans has reached a new low with the design of the NX, a hybrid device whose core components are inside the controller. I don't need to spell out the dire implications of this move.
Nintendo, end your war on controller breaking tantrums and cancel your outrageous plans for the NX or I guarantee you'll go third party by Christmas!
I love owning tons of platforms, but even I think I'm gonna be mostly NX+PC for modern games by 2018 unless Sony or Microsoft give me good reasons to buy a Scorpio or a PS4 Neo. I've been pretty disatisfied with the PS4/X1 thus far, and I feel like both consoles just aren't really for me.

I have an Xbox One pretty much just for Halo, and with all signs pointing to Halo 6 being on PC, it looks like I might be able to sell it off and never look back.
I just can't see this having 3rd party support now...
You know, I think I might finally be a one console person with this thing. NX + PC seems like a dream combo to me. I'm one of those weirdos who hates owning too many systems, though. Too much money and clutter.
Edit : lol, sorry for the irrelevant day dreaming at the top of the page
It is getting rather semantic, I agree.
The point is this 'hybrid' design seems to be the worst of both worlds. It messes up the handheld by making it come to pieces, while providing none of the advantages of being a home console.
It feels like Eurogamer have pieces of the puzzle, but have assembled them in the wrong order. I imagine it'll make a lot more sense when Nintendo actually reveal something.

No dual screen set-upWould 3ds backwards compatibility be possible since the NX is ARM based?

They could place the screens side by side on one screen like when playing DS games on Wii U.No dual screen set-up
The 3DS is so low res that I could imagine both fitting on the single screen quite easily like DS on the GamePadDepends on whether or not this thing has 2 screens i imagine.
If I had a nickel for each time somebody has said that in this thread, my NX would be paid for.
Honestly, I'm excited because I really enjoy handhelds, and this seems like a more convenient system than juggling games between a Vita and Vita TV. Of course, the games are the deciding factor, but as someone who rarely plays AAA games the library could very well be right up my alley. People keep lamenting the death of A and AA titles, but this system would be a great outlet for them.
I am genuinely curious as much as skeptical.
Hope to see news from Nintendo soon. Septembre is bullshit though. I don't believe it.

For people like you (and me) who like to use both handhelds and play on the TV then it's fine. When I say the worst of both worlds, I mean for the handheld-only gamer, and the console-only gamer.
I hope they can deliver on this. If they can truly pull this off, we would be getting the best of both worlds.
Handheld games like pokemon and monster hunter with console graphics.
Console games that can be played on the go.
What concerns me the most is multiplayer. Will it be like console local multiplayer with Multiple controllers connected to one unit? Or will it be like handheld multiplayer, where each player needs their own unit.
My main concern for the new Nintendo system:
1. Online service. Account tied to hardware is simply ridiculous. Also, I don't like the current e-shop.
2. Region Lock.
3. OS. I think both 3DS and WiiU have crappy OS.
Really hope Nintendo can put their shit together this time.
My Nintendo is going to be used and it's not tied to hardware. You could even access your Miitomo account from any phone or tablet.
Dunno about the other 2 but hope for the best.
Let's say X1 is the chip being used for early kits, and is replaced by a stronger chip. Would a Tegra Pascal chip bring NX closer to Xbox One/PS4 performance levels?
I've got to imagine the official reveal is coming soon, since its launch is just a little over half a year away. Now that this is all out in the open I wonder how long before someone leaks a pic of the controller / dev kit. Can't be long now
