iOS Gaming August 2016 | A sever-ly hot summer

Watched a video and damn, animations are pretty slick indeed.

I will probably grab it, just not at $5 when I haven't even finished Lara Craft GO yet.

What bonuses does the game give to Mankind Divided players?
You can earn up to 5 Praxis points which is used to upgrade your augmentations in Mankind Divided.

MB, I know virtual control games aren't generally your fancy but I think you would love Skyfish. The controls are responsive and smooth and the artstyle is beautiful. The puzzles in the game aren't half bad either once you get a little further in the game.

I don't have a problem with virtual controls, just bad virtual controls. I can play platformers, action games, etc. just fine

My concerns were less about the controls and more if the game was fun, if it was too easy, etc.

Oh, alright then.

The puzzles are a little easy in the beginning area but by the 2nd stage the puzzles get more complex with some of the puzzles requiring the whole level to solve. The first boss was a little difficult also.

Cool, I did not know that. Pac-Man 256 seems so derivative of Crossy Road that I never knew there was anyone else involved.

Shadow Bug is way more polished than in beta, and was polished enough. They really made sure it sounded and looked great for the final release. I am surprised the amount of work they did put in after the beta. And the gameplay is even better as well. Wow.

Legend of the Skyfish is cool. Took a minute to learn how to throw the fishing cane around and the first world is a tutorial, but after that is really good.

Yeah, I miss that part, but levels are huge and this way I dont get lost looking everywhere for where to go. Great fishing pole mechanic for pulling enemies and moving around the level, but the real hook for me is the mystery the game unveils piece py piece. The world is congruent and I want to know what happened. Great surprise. And even more of a suprise: a game from Crescent Moon without bugs. Amazing...

LOL. It has also been a while since they've a universally praised game too and this may get them that.

Still want to encourage anyone who has the slightest interest in Leap of Faith to take the leap (sorry had to do to). Probably one of the best games of the year.

Hope so, they have amazing concepts, but marred by bugs and similar things... hope they start making complete, polished games like this Legend of the Skyfish more often...

One free game from last week I really dig is Satellina Zero. The gameplay is very simple, yet very challenging when advancing in levels. But it is the mixture of the soundtrack + sounds of the "points" you collect, which really has some kind of addicting effect on me. The visuals are practicable but some color schemes do look really nice.
It is nothing exciting, but good enough for free (though the video ads appear a bit too often, as you fight against harder difficulties).

Also, I am looking for the best top down racers. I recently played the very, very bad VS. Racing 2 and figured that I would like to play solid top down racer. Premium at best. I tend to enjoy pure racing over racing + shooting, but I remember that I played a fun game in this regard some years ago as well...

a bit off topic, probably no one cares, but I am happy to be able to participate in the monthly iOS thread again :)

There is Table Top Racing, which should be pretty good. And also the king of all top racers, Reckless Racing 1-3. And Micro Machines made a comeback last month, although it has microtransactions and timers.

Finished Mr. Robot

Pretty damn great.

I think I hit a glitch. It has been 16 hours since my last text from whoever's phone I have and 15 hours since I got in that group text about the birthday party with no other activity. Is this normal or did something fail to happen?

I've seen multiple reports of that happening. Seems like a bug, you'll eventually get more texts but it might take a while.

- Slingshot Racing is still solid and wholly unique among mobile racers
- Reckless Racing 3 is very good
- Drift n Drive is fast, hectic, and a lot of fun

Any opinions on Amnesia Memories? A little off topic but since the genre came up, the whole game is on sale for $5.99 on PSN and I'm debating on it. Not a huge anime fan and also know some have called it a "dating sim" which I'm not excited about, but it's generally well received and sounds like it might not be a bad choice for noobs to the genre.

If I'm not wrong Steins;Gate is imminent too.
Yes

Oh, if Steins;Gate is coming to iPad, then I rather buy it for that platform than on Steam, at least to start with. Will it arrive on iOS day and date with the Steam release?

The latest update have added daily login bonuses for Contest of Champions.

Which also reminds me, that I have to look through every single page of the last months OT's, to find the advice I once got from another player playing the game, telling me to do stuff a certain way in the start of the game.

Really liking Leap of Fate so far. I got pretty deep into Binding of Isaac, and have played a lot of rogue type games.

I need more time to see if it really has legs, but so far it seems to. I like the card system eliminating the need to waste time backtracking.

Combat is fun so far, there're a good number of unlocks, and the powers/skills you can get seem varied and numerous enough to really change how each playthrough is played.

Virtual controls work fine, but I've got this shiny new mfi controller here and this game seems like a perfect fit. Devs have said they're considering adding support.

Each level is a (small) deck of cards, face down. They're arranged so that whenever you defeat a card it will reveal one or two more, until you get to the bottom. Cards can be combat cards (a room of enemies to defeat), shops, upgrades, etc.

You always have two special abilities available, limited by charges that refill for every new card. You're main attack is a magical blast with unlimited ammo. Al of these can change quite a bit depending on the upgrades you choose. I've had two autoturret buddies helping me out as I ghost walked through enemies, setting them on fire, then turning and shooting them with twin revolvers.

I haven't put enough time in to really form a definitive opinion, but initial impressions are fantastic.

I think Mr. Robot is broken. Nothing has happened for 24 hours and when I load it back up, it highlights the same contact each time as a new contact despite me looking at it previously.

It is and the dev is aware of it so hopefully a fix will come soon.

Thank you for your top Down racing advices. I Actually owned slingshot racing. I also remember beta testing drift n drive but was disappealed by the optics... However, reckless racing is pretty much what I was looking for.

One that I don't think was mentioned, if you like combat in the mix is Death Rally. This is F2P, but was changed to have just one unlock to make it premium.

Also Mini Motor Racing is really good (the original -- not the sequel WRTwhich was awful and ruined by F2P mechanics).

Ohh, great Death Rally was the game I was looking for!! I played that years ago and had a blast. I am wondering if I am eligible for the premium download if I bought it back in the days...

However, Mini Motor Racing is not my cup of tea since I dislike the art design.
