iOS Gaming August 2016 | A sever-ly hot summer

Maybe the wrong thread to ask in, but perhaps not: how do you get at game files on an iOS device? I see people ripping sprites from games and whatnot, but when I view my phone as a storage device, all I can access is a photos folder. Even with hidden files and folders visible.

Beat Deus Ex GO, my least favorite GO so far

Am I just blind or did they randomly introduce brand new mechanics without explaining them, specifically with the cloak thing?

If you like TD games, check out Dungeon Warfare, it's the Dungeon Keeper lite + Fieldrunners hybrid you've always wanted.

I definitely feel like this GO was likely hampered by needing to be released around Mankind Divided, like the classic problems of movie tie-in games.

You're right. Yesterday I checked out Lara Croft GO again and it feels so much bigger budget imo. So much slick stuff that was removed in DX GO. Mentioned in my review as well. DX GO shows SE putting pressure on SE Montreal causing the game quality to suffer.

It felt like a noticeable step back. The animations are great, and the aesthetic is awesome, but gone are the multi-stage multi-tiered levels of Lara Craft GO, the moveable obstacles, the sense of a continuous narrative rather than separate puzzles. It even has less puzzle elements/items than Hitman GO. While this has hacking, cloaking, armor, etc., Hitman had disguses and distractions and different weapons and other mechanics. Lara Croft had collapsing tiles and environmental hazards that could be manipulated like the pillars or boulders and complex interplays between traps, enemies, switches and pressure plates, and items like the spear

Pretty positive that the rips come from extracted IPAs. No idea how that works but I imagine a combination of a jail broken device and some hacking skills. You won't be able to do it on a stock device.

Oh and you'll probably need a Mac.

I think Deus Ex GO is a very strong game, although not as good as Lara Croft GO or Hitman (I haven't completed any of the GO games yet mind you), it's still very enjoyable and smart in how it uses its mechanics, and slowly adds upon the basics. One thing I didn't like about Deus Ex was the stupid forced narrative, it doesn't add anything.

I'm also not much into Solitairica at the moment, it just quickly faded away. While I can appreciate the great game there is, it just didn't have much of a staying power. I'll give it more time for sure though, as I love the concept of it.

Well, rats. I was hoping to pull some of the art from that shut-down Crows X Worst game I had been playing, before I uninstall it forever. Ah well. Thanks for the info, though!

Just wanted to jump in and give another glowing endorsement for Solitairica. Almost feels the way Puzzle Quest 1 did way back when where it felt so simple yet so novel at the same time. Made it to level 15 so far with the warrior and can't put it down.

I feel the same way. I like how each class really does play differently, too, instead of being a simple reskin. With more practice, I might get as far as you guys some day (I tapped out at level 8).

I wish you could see your enemies' decks. Do you think that would be useful? Then you could tailor your loadout more effectively. But I guess the descriptions help with that.

Also wish there was a card sequence reminder; I always forget the A J Q K order

I think it's "J Q K A" as the A connects to 2 and K.

I should get back into this game tomorrow. I only played the tutorial and the first two stages. But right now, I'm addicted to Pokemon TCG Online.

And in other news. True Skate is FREE; do not miss out on this wonderful game. Surgeon simulator and Thomas Was Alone are also 50% off.

I was esitant to say the same at the beginning...but I feel exactly like you comparing Solitairica to Puzzle Quest 1.
I finally hit level 14 with the full warrior deck myself.
It's getting more and more fun and strategical.
First stages where you build up your character are now essential.

You can see the powers description in the monster screen before th battle.
Read them and change your load out accordingly.

I.e...if you are against a monster that use poison...get rid of the armour spells as they are ineffective. Etc...

Correct order is J Q K A 2 A K Q J....

Seems like we have gotten a Naruto Shippuden game in select countries. Official Thread is here.

Solitairica is sucking all of my time. Once you hit level 7, it just goes off the rails. Damn poison monster...

I'm not feeling Solitairica. I love solitaire games, and have some so since my childhood. I just gave it another try, and died at battle 3 with warrior. Guess I should have bought some items or upgrades.

Will I have win all 18 battles, and then it unlocks a new type of character and more stages?

Just made it through my first clear with the warrior. Had 2-3 battles where it came down to luck as I had 1 HP. So good.

Reversal
is such a beautiful skill.

I'll echo what a couple others have said. Pay attention to the details of the monster you're fighting and arrange your spells and items accordingly.

I fell out of iOS gaming because it seemed like everything had gone to F2P trash then I discovered this thread. I've now bought, Space Marshals 1, Leap of Fate, Dungeon Defender, Solitarica, and Reigns. Really digging Leap of Fate and Solitarica so far. Great experiences!

There tends to be at least a few good paid games every week, a hundred or so every year. The last few months have been pretty exceptional

Welcome! This thread is pretty fantastic. Many of us have been here for years!

Solitairica isn't for me, unfortunately...I think the luck part of it just bothers me. When I'm at 8 health with 2 cards left and am just hitting new card trying to find the right cards while the opponent whittles down my health, not fun.

I don't know. I adored Card Crawl and the alpha for their next game. Then again, not a big fan of Fairway Solitaire either, so maybe it's the more direct Solitaire adaptations that aren't for me.

Also, haven't posted here since M_B gave me a code for RYB (thanks again!). That's a really, really smart puzzle game that makes me feel really stupid.

Gonna maybe buy Reigns or Deus Ex GO next.

Always going to be devs that will refuse to make F2P games, sometimes games with a one off price to unlock full content are classed under the free to play bracket too. Have a look back over the previous months and years threads, plenty of classic games well worthy of your time.

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
just picked up GP Riptide... never played one of these before but i really dig it. great controls, smooth graphics, no iaps. well worth the few bucks i spent.

I made it to level 18 last night in Solitairica with the warrior's deck, but got my ass handed to me in the last round. That's definitely been my best run to date. I usually make it to 14 or 15 on each run though.

I unlocked the wizard and paladin decks, and they really do play differently. I'll have to do the monk deck next. Still loving the game!

I'm still on the fence with this game, I like solitaire but I'm likely to give up once the difficulty ramps up, I could never get far in Puzzle quest back in the day either. I don't want to spend £2.99 and then not feel the love you guys have for it.

Anyway playing Reigns at the moment, unlocked all the characters but I'm struggling with some of the quests, like 'date a pigeon' or the utterly bizarre sounding 'arrange a bestial honeymoon'. its a fun little game though its almost always a lack of funds that causes my death.

And here I was about to recommend Solitairica to you over on NG.

Having quite a lot of fun with Dungeon Warfare. On paper at least it is a fairly routine tower defender but as you progress you unlocked a fair few displacement traps which make the game more about throwing the enemy into level hazards rather then just piling up stronger and stronger towers. And their is also a wonderful mad spectacle in the sheer number of foes that come at you and get obliterated every second.

Some of the later bosses aren't hard but are a pain in the ass because of how time consuming they are (turning all face cards into stone and then turning them all into the same number). Soured me on the game a bit.

You realize there are powers to help deal with that, don't you? You need read what powers are in play against you and choose your setup accordingly.

You realize that every play through is different and you will not always have an ideal setup to counter those powers, don't you?

I do. I'm just saying that those stiuations can be countered. Obviously there is RNG involved, but it can be countered.
I apologize if I offended you. Maybe the game just isn't for you.

You'd be better served posting without the poor assumptions and condescension.

Gonna take the plunge and buy this, a few others have compared it to Dungeon Keeper too and that can be only a good thing.
