In the year 1615, a new Shogun rises to power in Japan and strives to bring peace to the realm. In his battle again rebellion he recruits five specialists with extraordinary skills for assassination, sabotage and espionage.

Part of this team are Hayato, an agile Ninja who artfully defeats his enemies one by one, undetected from the cover of the shadows. Samurai Mugen fights with more strength and as the tank of the group, can take on several enemies at once, at the expense of his agility. Aiko the Geisha is a master of camouflage and distraction, trapper Yuki is specialized in traps and deceptions. Takuma, being the eldest of the group, relies on his sniper skills for ranged attacks.

The player has to carefully evaluate his options in order to master the challenging missions: how will the characters behave as a team? Which one is the ideal leader in any given situation? Which one is best equipped for which task? How can they best master the given environments? Come up with your own ingenious tactics to vanquish enemies and complete missions.

I could go with a game like this again. That accent is grating as hell though.

Wasn't a fan of the voice work either. But the game looks kinda neat.

Shame that Desperados basically refuses to run on my pc :/ I have such fond memories of that game. Mostly from the demo (it came with a package of serial)

Yeah, for sure. It's a fun genre and just like dude I'm wondering why it's taken so long for smaller developers to go at it. I guess everything has it's time!

Definitely keeping an eye on this.

really surprised it didnt come sooner, whith all these kickstartersand returns to the old loved genres ... this one was kinda forgotten

Looks good, big Commando fan back in the day so this is ticking my interest in some stealth tactics action. Only wish the name was perhaps a little less generic, but hey that shouldn't effect the actual game at all.

Looks very cool. I'll be keeping an eye on this. I hope that narrator isn't in the actual game though. His "accent" is fucking awful.

Just saw its coming to consoles aswell .... have quite hard time to think how would desperados/commandos game even work on consoles.... quite worrying thoughts .. hope they will not mess this up.

The gameplay snippets look quite fleshed out - and a good review from gamestar at least will make me take another look.

The demo made me want this day one, not played a Commandos style game in years. Great fun. Out on December 6th.

I think I'll buy this game. The demo is well done, mechanics are fleshed out, runs great and I'm a Commandos fan.

Too bad this doesn't have multiplayer. I remember enjoying Commandos coop, but bad netcode and desyncs made it unplayable for longer amount of time.

Played the demo and thought this was a very good one of these type of games. Seemed a bit more forgiving than I remember the Commandos games being too.

Just heard about this. The name is way too generic, but it looks promising.

It's been so long since the subgenre peaked with Desperados.

Looks good, but by god the name is terrible. If I hadn't watched an LP of the demo by accident I would have written the game off as a flash based indie rpg with grids.

Wow that visual cone is straight out of Commandos. If nails that kinda gameplay I am definitely in.

Shame we dont have a new Commandos game. The second is an all time favorite.

I liked the demo a lot, but I'll wait to the full game reviews, because I want to know if all the levels are as linear than the demo ones (something understandable for the tutorial levels).

Huh, I did not know about this game. Interesting, definitely gonna keep an eye on it. Hopefully they nailed the gameplay.

I was a huge fan of Commandos when I was younger, I remember getting the demo for Commandos 2 (after loving the first game), that came with a magazine, and playing that fucking level for hours, and hours, and hours. I was so goddamn hyped for that game back then.

Finishing it up for review but waiting a couple days for the later patches. Real embargo is the 6th of Dec
Strangely that one review is on a completely unfinished game(or maybe they reviewed the demo?) which is weird as they hadn't even pushed some of the last patches yet.

"Don't worry about the bugs, we'll iron them out until the release" kind of exclusivity deal?

Great. Looking forward to it.

One feature I really liked in the demo, is that there's a timer at the top of the screen that shows how long it's been since you quicksaved.

I grabbed the demo... this is really good. Commandos for the modern era. Lots of nice little features and tweaks that make the core systems shine. I love the theme and the Japanese is quite convincing. Will buy when it comes out!

I loved that, too!

Everything about the game feels really well thought out and polished from what I played in the demo. The Japanese voiced dialogue was really well done, too. It's clear some native speakers worked on or consulted on the game.

This game really came out of nowhere for me, but I'm very excited for it after trying the demo.

I tried the demo the other day too, it really is Samurai Commandos. Pretty good intro level and the game works with DS4 without needing third party software.

I'll probably wait for reviews though.

There need to be more Commandos style games. This seems pretty dope, but will have to try the demo out later. Hoping for the best

Desperados' quick action this is one of the better innovations to the genre, happy to see them include that here as well.

An extremely positive review from RPS

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun awakens a genre that has been in deep hibernation for more than a decade...Shadow Tactics recreates the pace and play patterns of its predecessors with touching loyalty. In the few areas where it does alter the formula, it does so with care and cleverness.
Atmospheric and impossible to rush, Shadow Tactics is a fabulous game – a game I think I prefer to both Commandos 2 and Desperados.
I wonder if this will be to its genre what Divinity was to CRPGs

Finally got around to the demo, and it was great. Game went from "wait and see" to probably day one, especially with those RPS impressions

Interesting that this pretty much dropped out of the sky, no kickstarter or early access or anything. Hope it'll be competitively priced and sell well.

I believe it's going to be $40

I spent almost two hours on the tutorial/first mission alone. I'm more than sold on the game for that price.
