Alabama and Ohio State's recruiting class is absolutely ridiculous.

I know that kind of stuff becomes prevalent with big time programs but it also makes me worry about complacency in the recruiting staff. I prefer to see em have to fight for recruits.

So when you see stuff like Saban didn't meet with someone or Urbs went elsewhere l, right now I am spt to believe it is bc the coaches went a different direction. These teams aren't hurting for players wanting to come and compete.

The day a Saban coaching staff becomes complacent in anything, especially recruiting, is the day Saban retires.

Bama is actually having a bit of a down recruiting year and there is a very good chance they lose at least Harris in this class, but yeah OSU is having a crazy year.

#OhioState announces that it will open 2017 season at Indiana on Thursday, Aug. 31, not Sept. 2 as originally scheduled.

I agree with this to an extant..

Ohio state has had trouble signing a big time DT and swinging and missing several times under Meyer. I think there is some flipping happening in regards to Ohio State/Bama recruiting.. but by and large if either Saban or Meyer really want someone.. they'll generally get them

That's bologna. The original source of the rumour, unexpectedly a buckeye, even said it was just speculation on his part.

I can tell you that Cutcliffe didn't buy a copy and you can see the game for proof, Duke didn't look prepared to play ANY team that day.

What a weird situation. Also...its Wake. They had a decent year this year but there isn't an ACC team that couldn't beat them on their own.

Then he's gone, because remember when that one top tier class A personality coach changed jobs because his wife hated the town, people, wanted more amenities, and so on?

Yeah, I can't think of one.

Ridiculous. But for the benefit of everyone who didn't click the link or read the article or perhaps the one I read on ESPN, dude was a player on the team in the 90s and a part of the coaching staff until the current coach (Dave Clawson) took over. He was not retained during the transition.

Was dude just bitter about not being part of the staff? If so, why not find a role elsewhere? North Carolina has many football playing schools -- FBS, FCS, whatever -- he wouldn't have even needed to move in certain situations.

Just crazy.

Such a weird story. I actually worked with the guys wife for about a year after I finished grad school at Wake.

I remember there was some bitterness about the coaching change and he was going to go work in investments or something but I guess he decided to try and stay around sports.

I forgot about that gaffe of his while at Tennessee that got him banned from a highschool down there. Those were the days.

When Lane Kiffin was the head coach at Tennessee, he kickstarted a controversy by making comments about recruiting players from Pahokee, saying people at the school would mess up a player’s National Letter of Intent and, “you take that hour drive up from South Florida, there ain’t a gas station that works. Nobody’s got enough money to even have shoes or a shirt on.”

Kiffin made those comments, and others, while recruiting Blue Devils’ star defensive back Nu’Keese Richardson in 2009.

Worried about then-Florida coach Urban Meyer swiping Richardson away on national signing day, Kiffin said he arranged for Richardson and his aunt to secretly fax his papers into the Tennessee office early that morning, because they didn’t trust then Pahokee coach Blaze Thompson or the people at the school.

“Someone at the school was going to screw it up. The fax machine wouldn’t work, or they would have changed the signatures, all the things that go on in Pahokee,” Kiffin said. “The aunt took it over to a junior high, found a fax machine that worked and faxed them over to us at 7:00, and I kept it in a drawer until their 1:00 press conference.”

Looks like Baylor hired Joey McGuire, Cedar Hill High School's head coach, to be an assistant. Good move by them. Had a lot of success and is well respected in the Texas HS coaching ranks.

After coming in with essentially no Texas recruiting experience, all of the hires Rhule has made since taking the job have either been people he's bringing with him from Temple or head coaches at Texas high schools.

Meanwhile Tom Herman's first assistant coach hire at Texas is Drew Mehringer who coached under Chris Ash at Rutgers. You know we're in for greatness when we steal assistant coaches from Rutgers. We're going to win back to back to back championships starting in 2018!!
