As a jaded 33 year old that didn't think it was possible to find joy in gaming anymore, this game is proving otherwise. Simply mind-blowing experience so far, and i really appreciate how difficult it is. It's like the best parts of witcher 3, mgs 5, and portal 2 combined into one package with a sprinkling of that Nintendo magic. Unless this game makes a turn for the worse, I can see this being my favorite game ever. It's certainly my favorite this decade.

Doesn't help that there's no requirement to actually own the game to make it a review. A majority of the 0s and 1s talk about not trusting "paid off" reviewers.

ZL + Jump + A for the Switch at least if I recall correctly.
I think if anything Red Dead will be under more scrutiny unless it brings something really fresh and new to the formula. I wouldn't doubt Rockstar though, but I have a feeling whatever they're bringing that will be new will skew heavily towards MP.

I haven't played it yet, but here's what I know: a new GOAT seems to appear roughly every 2-5 years in this industry. Point being, games, unlike other media, continue to get better, and better, and better. This art form is still incredibly young, and the future increasingly exciting.

It's different enough that if you have any misgivings it'ls likely to do things differently...it's also one of those games where despite it being very varied you can tell the creatives behind it were confident in their vision.

Agreed i loved rdr2, although John Martson will be hard to top imo. Unless it takes place around the time where he was in that gang (young marston and more playable characters). That would be cool.
But they do have to top RDR 1 because thats at 95 metacritic.

This is my first Zelda game. I have no problem with the reviews it has received. It's pretty fucking incredible and deserving of them.
Also, just want to point out that Metacritic is on the path to becoming the Dow Jones Industrial Average for game review scores. It's calculated in a ridiculous way and is pretty much useless as an indicator of anything; but it will still be cited by everyone because they have historical data going back farther than anyone else.

I can understand GTA V losing to TLOU, since Naughty Dogs are darling on GAF lol.
Well, there's that fact and GTA / Rockstar doesn't exhibit the genius that Nintendo can from time to time. GTA V has goat level of polish / production values, but the gameplay is passable at best imo. Zelda BOTW just had GOAT gameplay and mechanics for an open world game. GAF has a dedicated Nintendo fanbase, and Zelda is one of those legendary IP which managed to release another GOAT caliber game so the GOTY is on lock.
