How scary is The Evil Within? I loved RE4 (Played for the first time last year) but I've heard that TEW is much more tense and you're less of a badass.

I wouldn't say the game is scary. There are parts where the enemies are real messed up looking, or it gets really intense, but it's not exactly scary. Having ammo and conserving ammo can be an issue, just as fair warning.

played a little bit more of this god eater post-game or whatever it's called

game's kind of weird, i appreciate this being really light on story but the actual bits of story have been way more interesting than anything in the rest of the game so this is where i would actually want a little bit more

not a lot, certainly not a terrible cutscene every level, but you know, one cutscene every few levels wouldn't hurt much

game continues to be exactly the same as like 5000 hours ago but it's still a good podcast aid and i really only have a head for that kind of shit these days (and league, but you can't like not play league)

i wonder if that monster hunter game will be much better than this. i mean, as much as i like to hate on the story i appreciate it's there and idk if i would have the drive to keep playing if there wasn't a bit of a story motivation there, even if it's simple or bad lol. but if the gameplay is really good who knows, i mostly wish this game had more variety and a more sensible sense of progression. just having like levels or stats instead of all this instant skill and predator style and personal stats and upgrades and otehr nonsense would be much better to me, it just feels too crowded with bad, unsatisfying systems

but yeah, still going, more slowly tho, cos less free time
I said it before, but that's not the post-game, just the second story arc (the arc that was added in God Eater Burst). Afterwards there's still the third story arc (which was added in Resurrection). THEN there's the post game, which is basically the last difficulty level and has some of the best and most challenging fights in the game (and some really awful too!). And I also kept saying that they are far more interesting than the base game story, lol.
You'll get your cutscenes.

Root Double: √B and √C

Ah, yes √B was where the anime was hiding. As we learn about the lead-up to the events of √A, the focus shifts from the adults to the kids and with it come the daily life segments.
Those aren't inherently bad, and a number of them are genuinely funny or endearing, but some of those parts really overstay their welcome.
The narrative structure is interesting, but I also think the constant shifts between present and past messed up the pacing of both 'timelines' as a result, if that makes sense.
There also was an amazingly well-executed twist at the end, even if I started suspecting something like that a bit earlier, that didn't devalue it in the slightest.
So yeah, √B had some good parts and picked up quite a bit during the ending stretch, but I found it lot weaker than √A as a whole.

√C on the other hand was great. It's basically a short interlude that doesn't overstay its welcome and answers/clarifies some questions while setting up the next route with some more mysteries.
In any case it got me hyped for the next route.

Apparently Lost Planet have that save system that save your progress only when you hit "exit to menu" button. I ragequit by using Alt+F4 after that dumb lava river level and now i need to replay entire mission again. I fucking hate console save systems.

That ps+ thread mang, people protesting the price rise by stacking up on multiple years of ps+ quickly before the rise occurs lol.

So thankful that shit never took off on PC.

They won't get me! I'll spend a lot of money right before they do something shitty! That'll learn 'em good!

They're idiots.

I'm just going to let mine expire (It was a card that came with the console)

I just tried the Heroes of the Monkey Tavern demo. It's a dungeon crawler, it's on sale right now and it's not bad... but it's not good either.

It looks like a cheap Grimrock clone, with a twist: even though combat is real-time, you lose health if you try to move away from the enemy. That's good news if you don't like the "dance" in Grimrock, because all you have to do here is manage your characters health and attacks. That's not bad, combat is ok and at least feels different from Grimrock, but the game feels cheap and uninspired. It's probably only worth it for people who thought the puzzles in Grimrock were too hard and didn't like the "dance" in that game.

It's my birthday so I feel like sharing a couple of my all-time favorites:

Why is that my screenshots uploader window doesn't show my already uploaded icons anymore?

It's somewhat a new issue these days, it never happened before.

I hear you, zky - not so long ago, I set myself an arbitrary wishlist ceiling of 100 titles (which in itself I thought was a little crazy, particularly if the 'wishlist' was viewed as a 'buy this' list)... but it has blown out since then. 400 now. Still, I think I use it more as a 'bookmark interesting games to keep an eye on' list, more than anything else - stuff I want to follow, but not necessarily 'follow' in a Steam sense.

I've been pretty good recently, at the last sale I, well 95%, only bought off my wishlist. Though I did blindbuy Immortal Planet off my wishlist today, big mistake, so so clunky. Refunded it after 5 mins, might spend that on Sundered when the cash turns up.

I should probably curate mine a little more.

Just saw this pop up on my Steam suggestions, and was surprised to see it not mentioned in this thread, but I may have just missed the discussion.

Looks like everything I've ever wanted in a Souls-y game. Scifi, 2D, not overly horrific. It even gets bonus points for being isometric.

I know absolutely nothing about the game or the developer though. Any have opinions? I know it just came out. I might just buy it anyway, it looks that cool.

Happy birthday~!
...And happy birthday! :D
happy birthday
Happy birthday Maxwood !
Thanks everyone. :)

Good taste.

M&M X sales are the biggest tragedy in gaming in the past 5 years.
Ubi's marketing (or lack thereof) sure didn't help.
The game's a bit messy but I love it anyway. Divinity OS and M&M X made sure i'll never forget 2014. :)

Speaking of great games that should have sold a hell of a lot more.

My PS+ expires in September and I'm not even a little bit tempted to renew. Kind of wish I hadn't bothered to pay for the last year or two. Wasn't worth it.

I guess it helped me discover Rebel Galaxy.
