Not really, that's a false equivalence. Duck Soup and Some Like It Hot don't equate to Space Invaders or Asteroids. Nothing on this list is that archaic. The best approximation would be some early comedic shorts by George Mélies.

The longer I look at the list, the weirder it gets outside the top 20. Like Borat at #40? I wonder if some people were working under different definitions of comedy (thus weird stuff like American Psycho and Pulp Fiction), or if the international nature of the list meant that outside a lot of the stuff outside the widely recognizable got into the top 100 with relatively few votes.

Funnily enough one of the critics did have a Mélies film on their list and all I could do was roll my eyes.

I've seen the following from the list. I have MUCH different sense of humor, I guess.

The Hangover - I HATE The Hangover. Extraordinarily unfunny and one of the worst films I've ever seen.
Ghostbusters - An excellent film. Not very funny, though. But a lot of fun!
The Princess Bride - Not a fan. Also don't find it funny.
Shaun of the Dead - I greatly dislike this one and don't find it funny either.
Mean Girls - Absolutely hysterical film and one of my favorites. Funniest film on the list.
Pulp Fiction - One of my favorite films of all time, but I don't find it funny.
Clueless - Extraordinarily charming and fun film. Not funny, but almost.
This Is Spinal Tap! - I like it a lot! Very quotable and I'd describe it as borderline funny.
Airplane! - Funny and great.
Groundhog Day - I hate this film. Also don't find it funny.
Dr. Strangelove - I like this film a lot, but I don't really find it funny either.

The hangover is honestly the most annoying inclusion in here. There's a ton of other movies that could have taken that spot from Wayne's World, to Bill and Ted or Punch Drunk Love or Friday

Or hell even some absurd Korean shit like the Host since they tend to include a lot of slapstick in some of those films

No Wayne's World movie being on the list is probably the most egregious absence IMO.

Since critics could only pick 10, I feel the list has less validity the further down you go and why the ordering near the back end is off.

I know it was popular but didn't think it was critically popular, especially relative to some of the things on that list.

I wasn't saying the weird genre thing about Borat, but more about the American Psychos and Pulp Fictions, and then the ones that are cross genre like Kung Fu films and stuff.

I'm glad to see The Jerk on there, but at 99? Damn.

This is a list made by a lot of old people. A lot of those old comedies are really good, but the list slants hard towards them.

I've ~29 of the films on the list. Only 1 of those in the top 10.

And I agree that the list is mistaken in not having Kung Pow: Enter the Fist somewhere on there.

Surprising, this is one of the few top movie lists from which I've seen all of the Top10. It's quite a solid list, though Big Lebowski should have made it to top ten in my opinion and Ghostbusters should be higher up. But overall I don't mind the list at all, it's a good average.

Including some great ones regarding and made by people from their former colonies :). Goodness Gracious Me and Citizen Khan to name two examples :).
