Is Ellie from “The last of us: Part ii” on steroids??

Of course it's possible, but not likely in her situation.

My guess is it's out of necessity to explain how a 19 y/o can do all these feats of combat vs bigger foes. Once they decided she was going to play like a Joel 2.0 they couldn't have her looking like your average teen waif.

I hear that. But if you want Joel 2.0, shouldn’t you just... make Joel 2.0?

If you want to place Ellie in the lead role, shouldn’t you create gameplay based around that? TLoU has all sorts of melee weapons, stealth mechanics... there’s no need for them to try provide a weak justification for continuing the hand-to-hand combat angle, by basically designing a male character model, and putting Ellie’s head on top.

Moreover, they could actually roll with that. TLoU can deliver the scares, right? Well, what’s more scary than being physically outmatched and having to use everything at your disposal?

I mean, no? It's a game, and a good gameplay formula that continues from one game in the series to the next is a good thing. You have people doing unrealistic things all the time in games and in TLoU. It's literally only a problem for people if a woman is physically strong because feminism or something. TLoU is already a very non-realistic game, this is hardly the least realistic thing about it. Sacrificing realism for fun is a thing games do basically all the time.

It looks like she already plays quite differently to Joel. The dodge mechanic, additional stealth mechanics like prone and hiding under cars. Getting thrown over desks and shit by the big dudes. She will be more on the agile stealthy side where Joel would just smash a guy through plate glass and cut his throat on the shards

I had to replay twice to make sure who in this shot was. I seriously hope there is a backstory to how she managed to get those side delts, traps like Bane and a solid upper back. I don't think its naturally possible for a female to achieve this much muscle density at all. Look at Olympia fitness competitors, even they are not this dense and defined. This is post apocalypse universe . Unless, im missing something, i was absolutely dumbfounded by this design choice.

I mean look at this:

azE1wQh.jpg

Looks like she has been hitting those chin up bars and dumbbells more than she's been playing guitar.
I think the image in question is made to look like a man's back, if you look closely those are typical not curvy girl proportions but she is like rising her shoulders. Like taking a deep breath or when someone tries to look bigger to intimidate someone. On the muscular side, she looks fit, i wouldn't call her jacked or buffed honestly. I've seen instagram models with more muscules and curves.
Like so:

The hammer lady tho...that's some shehulk stuff, she is like a bouncer.

to be fair that's a pretty realistic depiction. The girl in the second trailer though, the one who gets hanged, was pure bullshit.

Well... I guess we now all know how Neil Druckmann likes his women.

.... Each to their own buut... 🤮.

This game is clearly not for me. Instantly unsold. I'm happy for everyone else though. Have fun. I'm out.

the duckperson might be a non binary r2d2c3po....

Fun Fact : When you're out there in the shit, fighting and trying to survive in a devastated world, you tend to build muscles. Weird, huh?
fun fact: not that much, look at uncontacted peoples all over the world... they are not that buff.

Grown-up Ellie looks about the same as Tess in the first game. In fact, maybe even a bit smaller.

I think she looks fine I know several women who have that body type there is nothing unrealistic or "woke" about it considering she lives in an enviroment were physical labor is common not to mention her needing to fight to survive.

Realism is one of those subtle details that make a game that much better.

But, if that’s the case, why not have a normal looking, toned Ellie?

Its not the muscles, its the lack of feminine features (waist and shoulders) combined with the bulkyness that sticks out
If you knew nothing of the game you would be inclined to think last pic is a man.

Fucks sake... Not all women are naturally curvy. Some women have minimal curves, it's just how they are.

The game doesn't exist to satisfy your sexual fantasies. That's what porn and strip clubs are for.

At this point it would be better to call a spade a spade.
They are trying too hard to go for that lesbian power fantasy even if its out of place

Same with people complaining of sexualization in kojimas games (quiet,SW) , sexy armor that isn't practical etc. They are doing the same just the opposite direction.

Which is why both are extreme asinine’s.

Both designs don’t offend me, nor get me worked up. Nothing feels forced to me, other than people's ideological insecurities.

Are you serious? there's an insane amount of legal and illegal drugs on the wild in the post-apocalyptic world and anyone strong enough can get them and use them or traffic with them.

Joel looks like a junkie actually.

I replied with the examples given
Ellies character is clearly designed to look like a man and push some lesbian power fantasy duckman has. Nothing wrong with that, just don't pretend is more realistic than so called sexualised characters
Queen Myrah
lol even with all that armor she has more waist than ellie
latest

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind crazy unrealistic stuff in gaming, just pointing out.

Many female olympic lifters have a physique like that or even better without steroids so I think it's possible especially in a harsh world that she has lived in her entire life.

So just so I understand this.

The world is almost destroyed by a fungus that turns people into a variety of monsters that shoot things, can RIP heads open like pudding cups, with stand a ton of gunfire. A couple people survive a year trekking through this world and taking more mental and physical punishment than any person could withstand to reach a place where some medical staff inside a burned out and ruined building are going to open her brain for a cure, then is rescued to return to this desolate world.

And her back muscle is what you chose to call unrealistic.?

Had a girlfriend that was a fencer (trained starting as a child). that back is quite similar and not abnormal. she wasnt even ripped.

Ellies back could certainly look like that when you think about the world she lives in.
i disagry that she looks like a guy and i think some here are quite harsh. but you do you. more beutiful women for me i guess.

Look at the world she lives in. Would you simply sit on your ass when you should be building shelter scavenging and hunting? Not to mention fighting off people and Zombies.

Yep. I dated several dancers in my youth (I'm now an old happily married guy), one in particular who was tiny in general size but remarkably well defined in her upper body and back. I've see many fit women with toned bodies similar to the the Ellie design.

I don't want to be mean, but some of the comments in this thread make me wonder how many real women some have seen. There is tremendous variety in bodies for both males and females, and I don't think Ellie looks unreasonable at all.

Not at all even close to impossible. General martial arts practice for teens I have seen countless women in better shape than that and instructed a large number of them. Actually very unremarkable overall compared to some.

Ellie looks pretty alright, now if she had no neck, was jacked as a train, had a partially shaved head and partially tinted hair...yeah, maybe then i would think that the opinion of "Ellie looks too much like a man" or "LESBIAN, RUN" is a sensible or understandable one.

Also, that scene in the OP, it's obviously intended too show Ellie's man like features, AKA how tough she has become.
Edit: Ellie has always being the Tomboy type too, how can her looks here be any surprise to anyone.

I don't really think she'll be a full on Joel 2.0... Somewhere in between kid Ellie and Joel is probably what we should expect and would be the most fun to play in this type of game. Yoboman brought up some good points.

As for that WWE like lady in TLoU2, I have no doubt she's beyond Joel 2.0, lol.

Years of monsters brains crushing, bats and axes swinging, and pulling bows cordes did this haha

She remember me of a female ufc fighter, nothing impossible to attain if you ask me

Trying to realistically explain this, she lived for how many years? 5-7? In a safe zone, at Tommy's place, Jacksonville, where she possibly had medicines, plenty of food, maybe even vitamin supplements, whatever would need to survive and whatever they could find in expeditions
She could also have trained with the local defense militia, and got stronger and more dangerous through training and field experience
Your body adapts to whatever is put into, and she Also was in her developing years, no wonder she got so buff

If I were in a post apocalyptic world, I'd spend all my time outside of food and primary goods searches doing any kind of body workout and weapons training
