What if I told you they were all fully-grown adults?

Makes sense, their children have hijacked their ipads on the sofa.

It is a great game, and a good Mario game with some very original and interesting ideas, don't get me wrong. But I disagree with it being the best game of the generation.

I agree with DunDunDunpachi DunDunDunpachi saying Super Mario 3D World was a better game. I'm more a fan of the "traditional" Mario stuff, so no Mario game in the sandbox format will outdo them. It is the best sandbox Mario game to date I think. No doubt.

At first I decided to buy Switch when SMTV comes out but because of Mario Odyssey I bought Switch and no regrets, It was really fun game.

Happy for Nintendo. Personally I enjoyed Mario Odyssey greatly but not to the extent that I thought it was that groundbreaking. To me it lacked "traditional" platforming-challenges. Also, I am more of a 2D Mario-guy which is why I prefer 3D World over Odyssey. I´m aware that I´m crazy, yeah...

Nonetheless, I think it´s a suberb videogame with an awesome feel-good atmosphere and an essential title for the Nintendo Switch.

Not crazy at all, 3D World is a beautiful game. It was a bit divisive when it came out for what it wasn't (an exploration based game with full analog control), and not loved enough for what it was (an expertly designed, perfectly paced and fun as fuck collection of levels). I love it more and more and I badly want a sequel.

Debating if it’s the best game of this gen is dumb and all just personal opinion.
One thing you can’t argue is that the Switch is killing it this gen , wether you want to admit it or not.

I don’t mind if people just don’t like Nintendo games, we all have different taste, but thing I found extremely strange is people just pissed off that Switch doing well, and they have justify it somehow and calling anyone who enjoys them “fanboys”.

I really want know why they get angry about it.

It’s the Wii all over again. Thing was selling gang busters and upsetting so many people along the way.

Immaturity , I bet the ones the get the angriest don’t even own a Switch.
Let them bitch and us “fanboys” will still be having fun gaming on our console made for babies. It doesn’t really bother me but I do find it funny what lengths some go just to put Nintendo down.

I came up with 2 possibilities:

1. based on old Switch sales prediction thread, lots of people expected/hoped Switch would fail but it didn't.

2. If you look at most NeoGAF threads. you will see far more people care about graphics so the entire idea of under power console like Switch selling well makes them angry.

That best reasons I can think of.

It is an awesome game but its fringe top 10 for me, mostly because theres just stuff I like more than platformers. But if 3d platformers are your thing, yeah, its as good as the genre gets.

Tell me what kind of adult would buy this? shiitttt, might as well go watch barney and tellatubbies while you at it. or splatoon games are targeted for toddlers and weirdo adults.
Whats your issue for people liking the games you don't like!? You act like people are immature for liking Nintendo games but you yourself act like angry child and insulting everyone who doesn't share your taste in games. For fuck sake just get over it, not everyone is gonna like what you like.

Okay, I admit not everyone is going to have as good of a taste in gaming as I do. 🤷‍♀️
OutrageousFacts, is that you?😁🐧

Edit: Just to be clear, I liked having him on here. The shrug emote (combined with a penguin) just reminds me of his posting style a lot.

And I hope he'll ask for his self-requested permaban to be lifted someday, or when Xenoblade Remastered is released. He clearly has a passion for the games he loves and while he tends to jump into arguments a bit quickly, his discussions are decent food for thought.

I don't think we can truly judge games as 'best of the generation' while platforms still exist because 'fanboys'

Mario/Zelda is one-two punch of some of the best gaming of either series and indeed a system seller. can't argue with that top 3.

Mario Odyssey is really something special. the graphics are wonderful and the gameplay is seamless. like the best 3D Mario games once you master the controls it is easy to flip and jump and do super crazy cool acrobatics to get around, and you can pull them off with ease and just a few buttons. it is super polished, fun to play, and has dozens of hours worth of additional platforming challenges in NG+ once you beat the game. it's a great package, Nintendo really crafted a thing of beauty.

on top of that, there is the top notch art design, the wonderfully vivid cartoon nearly Pixar-level graphical fidelity it all, the good mix of realistic style open worlds and Mario Sunshine-style abstract platforming. i really loved New Donk City, and was all smiles for so many parts of the game. the open world aspects i felt were very well done; each of the main levels is a giant open world hub, with lots of pipes and doorways within that go to other, mini-level areas. if you think back to Super Mario Bros. 3 or whatever, there always were these little bite sized chunks set off to the side, where you could run to collect coins or whatever. Odyssey continues that tradition, burying dozens of micro levels throughout the Mario 64-style main worlds. it's very much like a sequel to that game.

SMB3 is to SMW as SM64 is to SMO

Well happy to report that i have RDR2 (anyone else keep thinking that means Dance Dance Revolution 2?) on Steam and have zero interest in playing it online so i should be able to chow down on that in depth.

Mario Odyssey is my 3rd favorite game of the gen, after Nier Automata at #1 and Bloodborne at #2. I was having a blast the entire game.
