Anyone know why the YouTube channels for SpaceX and NASA only go up to 720p I mean, look at that fucking rocket, and we get 720p? Also, SpaceX's channel had some major lag and NASA's had shit sound quality.

It took a while last time, but I found a channel called C-SPAN who did a smooth 1080p live feed. Seems to be the best. Watching that now on YouTube.

It's because NASA TV is literally a TV feed - they chose 720p over 1080i of the common HD TV broadcast format. This presentation is a joint NASA/SpaceX production, thus 720p is being used by both.

Normally SpaceX's own webcasts are in 1080p.
