Sure, it looked like a complete piece of shit, but at least it wasn’t a 500 million dollar disaster. And at least there was actual interest in it at one point in time. Hard to say that about Halo Infinite, considering just how much everyone loathes 343i and their Halo “efforts.”

Given how lame you and your teams have been with releasing exclusive games for the Xbox One, why not patch up Scalebound, release it as a barebones turd (like Sea of Thieves), and then just fix it with iterative development?

Come on, Phil. Be a man. Do the right thing. Throw your long suffering X-fans a bone. Release it this fall for $24.99, and with a free Dominos pizza code.

I believe in the power of a Christmas, Phil...and the power of Christmas is even stronger than 343i’s shittiness, which should tell you just how powerful Christmas is.

Scalebound this Christmas. Make us all believers.

People really need to let this game go, I personally really like the concept but the actual game looked pretty rough and this coming from huge PG fan.


It just didn't worked out, that just how it is.


Edit: Now give this game's Dragon system to Yoko Taro in order to make Drakengard 4.

That looks like the guy from Infamous Second Son riding dragons and trying too hard to be cool.

That being said, if they had the foresight to cancel it it must have been in really bad state (looking at MSs output in the last couple of years).

The game certainly had promise. Really seems to be pushing the Xbox One so framerate clearly suffers. Do we know why they decided to cancel this? Did it not have a clear direction? Maybe that and the performance problems put the nail in the coffin.

With that said, Scalebound does look a lot better than Infinite

In what does it look better? 720p resolution with low fod while hardly maintaining over 20fps isn’t exactly what comes to my mind as better.

the only thing that looks nice are the cutscenes before the quality goes back to shit during gameplay.

Stinkles would say anything to defend the game. He is paid to do so. It’s true that Xbox Dynasty doesn’t back anything up, but if Halo Infinite is going to be MS’s Destiny for the next 5-10 years, then 500 million, especially with what appears to be a troubled development, is believable. Fuzzy math:
  • New engine development + already accrued development costs (more like development hell at this point)
  • Projected ongoing development and maintenance over its lifespan
  • Initial and prolonged marketing costs
  • Delay costs, including contractual penalties to partners
In a world where Justice League cost anywhere from 300 million to 600+ million, depending on who you ask (and is getting more sunk into it), Halo Infinite’s rumored 500 million seems quite plausible.

You might very well say, “you can’t prove it,” and my response will still be:
  • I don’t trust Stinkles as a source, period.
  • 343i are—without a shadow of a doubt—inept, and them blowing through oodles of cash and still producing the garbage we saw in July just strikes me as being the accurate narrative.
In any event, it’s likely we’ll never know the true costs, but all signs point to this as being a mess. And you and I both know companies lie to save face. All the time.

That is the most stupid list I have seen. New engine does not cost hundreds of millions of dollars. Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed way more than Halo Infinite(showing the first teaser in 2013), shouldnt it cost more? Just because you made a list does not mean it would necessarily add up to support your cause. I still dont know why would trust the 500 million number thrown by Xbox Dynasty(who dont have any credibility themselves)

I wouldn’t mind seeing Scalebound resurrected, but pragmatically speaking it probably wouldn’t be worth the investment it for Phil because I doubt it would sell as much as I hate to say that.

I feel the anger, but Phil made a good call on this one. If the rumors are true, the blame lies solely with the studio.

Also, leaders at 343i won’t be fired immediately if they are at fault. Right now the studio needs stability.

it’s a joke, dude. The background textures in that game look like shit and as you say it probably runs at 20-30fps.

Next, you'll be saying that The Last Guardian was the 1st $1 Billion dollar game. Given its trouble development need to adjust the engine for 2 different platforms and was in development for over 7 years *rolleyes*
