11 years I've waited 11 years for a real next generation GT experience. 11 years.
I shouldn't be mad because it's a video game, but I guess not having a real GT since GT5 took its toll on me.

all this talk about but but but 100 million user base, ps1 also had a 100 million userbase and ps2 had a 150 million one, that does not mean you stop doing new gen games because of it.
First year though? its understandable having some cross gen games that were already in development, but this is pure bullshit, might as well stop making new consoles

Great news for me! I don't care about Ray Tracing, I just want to play GT7
Doubt the PS4 version will get realtime global illumination either. No idea how it will even run tbh.

Yeah this is what's disappointing. The vast majority of Miles Morales sales are on ps5 and this is the start of the generation.
By the time Ragnaorak releases the base will be far bigger what percentage will buying ps4 version then?
I was not too bothered about Horizon I get the impression that might have started as a ps4 game then got upgraded too ps5. This is more disappointing though.

I will just use them like i do origins. $10 a month whenever an AAA game like Star Wars Fallen Order comes out.
Project cars has dynamic weather, bigger grids, better physics and this is all on PS4, so it can be done. And i'm sure there will be full VR support, but for psvr2, and ps4 version doesn't prevent this.

By the time "true" next gen titles arrive, the ps5 pro which means available. Which means the ps5 you can buy today will be effectively the worst place to enjoy these true next gen games.
It's a scam, and I've been had along with the other 8 million people who bought one.

To release new exclusive software that's AAA which is exclusive to the next gen system is important. Stuff like Returnal and Ratchet is B Tier. Demons Souls is niche. All this talk about business but Sony didn't do much cross gen with PS4 and PS3. Or PS2 and PS3, Or PS2 and PS2. They released games like inFamous Second Son, Killzone Shadowfall, Uncharted 4 and etc to show the next gen leap. Horizon looks nice but it's a game that just looks like a slightly more prettier version of the last game. No new game design based on the SSD and CPU based on Cwrnys 1 hour presentation. Let me put it this way we won't get a new next gen only God of War until 2026 at the earliest or a new Gran Turismo until 2029 at the earliest. To many that's very disappointing. Also Naughty Dogs next game is rumoured to be Last of Us 2 Remake. So who knows how long we will get a next gen only game that isnt B Tier or a Remake as it seems all the studios they have are busy with cross gen games or a remake.
I'm glad I got this PS5 for free by scalping a few PS5s as I would have been very disappointed how Sony basically misled me into getting a PS4 Pro 2

I had a base PS4 model for all last gen, It wasn’t an issue, it won’t be much of an issue this gen either. One could make the argument that consoles is the type of electronic device that is the least impacted out of all devices in our homes when it comes to this

I think the worst place where people can enjoy next gen games are on XSS. Ps5 even if there’d be a pro will still be a beast. I will switch to the pro if it comes like i did with the ps4 but I think we can all admit ps4 base games still are amazing and not that much worse than ps4 pro games.

It just depends on how much respect you demand from a company. Sony doesn't owe anyone a thing, but when they heavily imply that they will provide next-gen only games very soon, when they must know it isn't true, in a move to trump the competition, well...it's fair for people to call it out and show their disappointment in the company. It feels like they were trying to deceive their most hardcore supporters.

What were the sales of God of War PS4 in comparison to Ratchet PS4?
It was basically like the worst kept secret, it's no coincidence they're getting this news out before their next big digital event is scheduled this month unlike what happened in September when they announced Spiderman and Horizon were cross gen only after their conference.
Reality is that these games all started development in 2017-2018 as PS4 sequels and then were shifted to PS5. It's also the reason we're getting such big games so soon in the PS5 lifecycle instead of waiting years.
It makes no sense not to release them on PS4 as well. They tried to hide it for too long so it's fair that now some people are disappointed but it's absolutely logical.
Also why it's surely disappointing that gameplay won't feature anything that is not possible to run on PS4, like we have seen in the recent Horizon footage the bar is so high they are absolutely able to make their cross gen games look as if they were next gen titles.

Many games spread their news bullet strategically to have more news highlights spread across their marketing period. If they announce everything day one people and gaming media wouldn't talk about the game again. On top of that, sometimes people don't announce platforms at the same time they announce the game because they aren't 100%.
In this case, games were announced like a year or a year and half before release. At that point, games still aren't optimized, and being big ass AAA, maybe back then they weren't sure if were going to be able to make these games run properly on base PS4. So maybe now, closer to release they know the game will run properly on base PS4 so announced that version. See Cyberpunk to know why this is better than to announce as crossgen before making sure you can run the game properly there.

what are you comparing, totaly different engine and game on ps4 looks like ps3 game, physics was ambitious but also broken with slight adjustment could totalychange behavior of car, about psvr2 in theory shouldn't be problem but maybe there will be also psvr1 so why constraint ps4 users, just do same shit saparate mode as on gt sport for gt7 also on psvr2

They said the transition would be around 2 years, and now they extended it to 3 due to covid. I can see the logic in that. They can not manufacture quickly enough to make it worthwhile to make the transition in the original strategy, it’s called adapting to new circumstances and they do it very good. Sure it’d be nice if the transition would be over after the original planned 2 years but lets be realistic here, the company only exists if it makes money and this is the way to do it.

There is a difference between 100 million consoles sold and to have 100 million monthly active users. PS4 now has almost 100 million monthly active users.
Jimbo said in the 'we belive in generations' interview that they were going to support it during at least 2 or 3 years. Another big Sony guy said the same. Sony home consoles traditionally get released every 7 years but get supported during 10+ years.
So expect 3 years or more, specially considering PS4 still has almost 100M monthly active users on its 8th year.

I don't really understand why anyone would demand or be upset by a lack of platform mention, GT7 looks good though? So that's another thing I don't really get. Resident Evil Village is available on PS4/PS5/XB1/XSS/XSX and it some how manages to look better and load tons quicker on the newer hardware as opposed to the older hardware. But to answer your question, I am not sure as to why they would do that? Probably to build hype around a new platform? My question to you is, did they specifically state elsewhere that God Of War or GT7 would be PS5 exclusives never to come to PS4?
I see a lot of speculation that it would only be on PS5 and nothing else, but I haven't seen one article that stated otherwise, or an official statement from Sony.
If I see a game, like HFW and I think "Wow, that looks really good" that sorta checks all the boxes for me? Why would anyone be bummed about them showing a little love for PS4? 110+ million install base is really hard to walk away from.

Not exactly, if you go by precedent. Bloodborne was a year and a half into the life of the ps4. Comparatively, by that time we're either getting delayed Horizon 2 or God of war 2 (yeah, they had an interview where they stated Horizon 2 might get delayed into next year).
There's no precedent for this crossgen business.
