I mean. This is the only way to sell more of it.
But I bet one of these pc releases will be super bad and will tarnish the look of ps games :p
I think not making PS5 SKUs of games like Horizon, Days Gone and GoW and spending so much time and effort making 4k 120 fps DLSS widescreen versions of PC games does kind of tarnish the PS5 experience where gamers have had to settle for 4kcb 60 fps. No 120 fps modes for any of Sony's first party games. Even ones that got a paid PS5 patch like Death Stranding and Ghost Of Tsushima.

The other day i was criticizing Crytek for not releasing PS5 and XSX SKUs of Crysis 2 and 3. Leaving at least 25% performance on the table. But Sony being first party needs to do better. Games like GoW, TLOU, GoT and Horizon would play amazing at 120 fps. As Sony's Premium $500 machine, they ought to support it like they are supporting PC releases.

I know some will complain but the more people that get to play this the better as far as I'm concerned and it's hardly a new game so it's probably had it's run on PS4 anyway. For anybody who hasn't played it, it is very different to the old games but I feel the changes are an example to any studio making games from decades old franchises that really feel like they need to evolve in some way without losing what made the originals special.
A wonderful game and although I'm sure it's another thing that I'm sure some would complain about, I'd love to see this get a native PS5 upgrade so it could run at a native 4K/60. I's happily pay the £5/$10 upgrade fee for that.
Just checked, it was a 2018 release so just under four years when it reaches PC. I think somewhere between two to four years seems like a good fit for the PlayStation does things.

I see. I'm just going off the GeForce Now leaks. There was no mention of Bloodborne, Spidey, and TLOU 1 & 2 in it. But you might be right though, these may eventually make their way to PC.

But it ain't winning until it gets Knack 1 & 2.
Knack is never getting ported, it'd bring down the entire company.

They have to hold it as the crown jewel exclusive. As a reserve.

Knack PC port is Sony's "break glass in case of emergency" move. For a rainy day.

I wonder if in 3years they are going to port every game or the only the big hitters. Anyways interesting to see how many sales it is going to have.

Always the caveat left out with the subtle shade.
I felt bad for my friend the other day when he benchmarked Far Cry 6 with is "capable" pc with a 2070 and had to turn everything down to just play the game. :messenger_grimmacing_

But I digress...

I wonder what the recommended specs will be just to play GoW at 4k/60.

edit: 1070 ti, my b

With a 2070 they should be running console PS5/XSZ settings unless the game has DLSS. Nothing to feel bad about.

Would be a trip if Sony were the first developer to use Direct Storage on PC with Demon Souls or Returnal.
And the most ardent PC gamers will then all love the magic of the lightning I/Os, praising the benefits to not only world design, but graphical fidelity, all while scrubbing post history in the process. Or moving the goalposts, who am I kidding. 🤭

Which I have always found quite amusing in retrospect PC gaming. Southbridges have always been the Achilles heal, especially when memory got faster, but storage mediums not so much. Pound for pound.

Don’t take this the wrong way but why does it have to be a long time to release on PC? It wouldn’t take away from your enjoyment if it launched the same day on both PS and PC (not that I’m saying that will or should happen).

It would weaken their main brand, just it.

Fucking hype for everyone who will get to experience this game for the first time!

I think releasing old PS4 games to PC is a smart business move by Sony and doesn't cannibalize it's hardware sells.

Fair play to Sony, 3.5 years, PS5 update and permanently available on PS Collection on PS5. Asking for some money for the best game in human history is more than fair after being too generous with it with many discounts and so.
I think its incredibly smart putting older games on PC not only to make a little extra cash but to drum up excitement for the next upcoming installment for a group of people who may not have owned a PS4

But as we have spoken before you know how many games I want on PC

Though I will always buy the newest PS console I do think we are going to see this more and more and eventually one on launch be on PC

I think it will, and they will get greedy, they will see strong GOW sales on PC and release the second much earlier. (in addition to other games)

Great move by Sony. Are there still that many people out there that are waiting for the right time to buy a PlayStation to play this 4 year old game? This will also generate interest outside of the PS ecosystem for the Sequel. Well played, Jimbo.

I would take PC over melting games to be playable on smartphones like some companies are headed now. Things are getting too expensive and I'm ok with how Sony's going. If such money will accelerate and expand Sony's IP's then I'm happy with that. 7-5 years for sequels might not work out for me as I'm not sure if I'll be playing that much games in the next 5-10 years.

Good news in terms of more sony games on pc. I thought this game was awful and ruined the god of war franchise since it didn't feel nothing like a real gow game and instead a dumbed down walking simulator and dark souls ripoff with weak combat. Hope sony can put their other better games on pc.

What? Buying a PC is much more expensive than a console. Specially a PC capable of running these games.

It's great that Sony is doing these PC releases because they want people to buy Ragnarok. I have no doubt it will help to increase sales of Ragnarok.
I fail to understand what your post has to do with mine. Maybe you meant to quote someone else?

People who already has a PC might want to play God of War but can't justify buying a 499 console for just one game.

I am not talking about buying a PC to play god of war specifically, but if you already have a gaming rig you would enjoy playing the game on that instead of tossing 499 euro at some additional hardware you wouldn't touch so much (as third party games etc would still be bought on the pc)

I don't think I can spell it out further without repeating myself.

Sony selling to PC owners, but they selling at a time when they know it's hard to build a PC lol. So this way they can try and ensure people keep there PS5s when they look at PC graphic card prices.

Ohh Snap.

God of War '18
  • Ultrawide.
  • 120fps.
  • DLSS.
  • Reflex.
  • Ground Truth Ambient Occlusion.
  • Screen Space Directional Occlusion.

They must have ported the "GI" and AO from the new version of their engine, not exactly techniques you;d implement for a port if you could just do a direct port at higher res/frames.
I wonder what the "and much more" features entail.

DLSS plus Reflex will have this game running ridiculously fast even on RTX 2060s.
