Halloween psychology it feels like people doubt Michael’s killing abilities and yet every movie he has success in doing so, there’s girls running, kids crying all that good stuff and they care about flashbacks, music etc. in the movies.

When I watched it Vidocq made really an impression, especially towards the end when the main character infiltrated that part of Paris.

Alien is a horror film, but isn't Aliens more in line with action?

The topic just asks which is your favourite scary movie, not specifically horror movie. Aliens has scared people, just look at first watch videos on Youtube (If you have time to waste).

What a coincidence I was just watching SM

And my favourite scary movie is The Blair Witch Project, I didn't wanna finish it as a kid I would close my eyes and pretend I was asleep.

Nothing to me is more frightening than some stranger wanting to murder you, and unlike Jason or Leatherface or such, you didn’t walk into his turf, he walked into YOURS.

Scream if we’re talking overall favorite horror, but if we’re only talking scary movies then The Blair Witch Project

It's the James-Cameron-directing-the-sequel effect !
Same with Terminator and Terminator 2

I think the best horror movies are not necessarily those well made or with the most gore, or the best story and acting, but the ones you can meta the shit out of, alone or with your friends.
Being 10 and daring your pal to say "candyman" five times in front of a mirror at night during sleepover. Watching Nightmare on helm's street one day, then trying to stay awake all night every night the following week cause you never know when Freddy's going to strike.
I had to sleep under my blankets without moving or making a noise for most of my childhood so that Jason wouldn't notice me, if he were to come... Good times :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Funnily enough, Scream.

The meta script was super well-done and breathed some new life in to the horror genre. It desperately needed it at the time.

My favourite Scary Movie? Probably the first one. The second one did have people being rolled up and smoked though, plus freaky man nipples and “Let me use my strong hand”.
I didn’t watch any past that one. We’re the Wayans brothers in the later ones?

The Exorcist (original). Easily the most genuinely evil film I've seen and still haunts me to this day.

The Shining is a close #2 but it's obviously the better film. There are so many creepy hidden gems, double meanings, metaphors, and conspiracy theory details in each and every scene. Kubrick was a genius.

In terms of general, casual enjoyment I like SLASHERS! Halloween (original), Friday the 13th Jason Lives, A Nightmare on Elm Street (original), Child's Play 1 and 2. I know none of those movies are actually "scary" but I could watch them any time, any day.

The omen for me, scared me shitless as a kid, not religious in any way. Had me checking for 666 on my brothers scalp (I still reckon it's there somewhere).

I had been watching Freddy and Jason etc for years and my mom (Late 80s/early 90s i think) said "Want to see a really scary movie?" and popped on Exorcist. Laughed my ass off. I appreciate the film much more now though.
