Martha is dead to be censored/edited on PlayStation platforms, PC and Xbox unaffected.

I did a vote with my wallet thing on that one, I saw the torture trailer way back at the unveil and noped my way out of that title and swore to never pay for it. I loved the first game but enough is enough. I don’t know what’s the deal with the current ND, maybe it’s just Druckmann having a dark mind. I just finished Lost Legacy and it was awesome, one of my fav playthroughs so far on PS5, a jolly good fun action adventure with some hot ladies as main characters. I can only imagine how such a game would’ve been if ND made it today. I doubt we’d have that nice sunset scene at the end or the pizza scene at the credits.

The game even had a game character getting reamed up the ass like a studio made a digital porn clip on pornhub.
Sony seemed fine with it.
Funny how Sony third party studios get censored but internal studios are anything goes. Capcom even had to censor out an innocent bum shot in DMC. It wasnt even a torture scene or anything. That's when games were going ape shit with studios doing that blinding light streak to cover up stuff.

I think that what I find equally upsetting about this is that it's becoming such a big deal everyone can agree on, but when sexualized content gets censored then suddenly a lot of the same people either go silent or defend the censorship.
With violence people seem to understand that censorship is bad all of the sudden.

Martha Is Dead is a narrative adventure recommended for adult audiences only, with play consisting of potentially discomforting scenes and themes that may distress some players. Both Wired Productions and LKA have always been open and honest about Martha Is Dead content, with the sensitive depictions in play consistently communicated to the media since the game was announced in 2019. This content is also flagged clearly and repeatedly within the game itself before play begins.
>It is with regret that we have had to modify the experience on the PS5 and PS4 versions, with some elements no longer playable. After over four years of passion and hard work, Developer LKA now requires extra time to make these unplanned changes. Martha Is Dead, as a result, will still launch digitally on both PS5 and PS4 on Thursday, February 24th, 2022, but the physical retail release will be delayed to a yet to be disclosed date; although we anticipate this to only be a small number of weeks. Our physical edition will still contain the bonus content of a double-sided poster, digital tarot cards and Martha Is Dead Digital EP. We will update players with the date we ship this edition as soon as we have the information.
The PC and Xbox versions of Martha Is Dead are both unaffected by these developments and will launch with the full unedited gameplay as planned.
We look forward to players experiencing the work of LKA on Thursday February 24th, 2022.

The only problem I see with that video is that the lady playing is about 2 times fatter than she promotes herself in the thumbnail lol.
The gore is no more shocking than Mortal Kombat which got really gross with latest entries

Sony has no problem with gore and stuff, many games on PS feature it. It has to be with age rating and the regulation for retailers form USA, not with Sony.
When a game is digital only, the publisher can get the age rating certification from many regions via IARC, a cheap and fast method that isn't too strict and gives them basically what the publisher ask for.
But if later they want to release a game in retail in USA they must get a proper, more strict and expensive ESRB certification process for retail copies. And retailers in USA can't display on their stores ESRB AO games to children, which means publishers in many cases see they are going to get -or get- a ESRB AO rating, and decide to tone down the content of the game to get ESRB 17 because that would mean that retailers from USA would buy it and display it on their stores.
Typically the publishers make this self censorship for all versions, or in some cases for the only versions that will be published on retail (in many cases they only release it on retail for PS, so the PS version is the only censored one). In other cases, they only censor it for the country affected, as it is the case of all gore games released in Japan on retail (Japanese versions are censored, as happens with all the Resident Evil games for all platforms).

The game is Rated M and is releasing on PC and Xbox with zero issues. There is no excuse for Sony.

The publisher of the game is the one who decides its content, not the platform holder. And Sony has no problem with gore because there are plenty of gore games on PS.

While its fun for people to argue about this online, it's not a game many will care about and considering what is being censored I don't think it's too unreasonable.

Lots of concern about censorship lately and most of it is alarming. I don't personally think cutting someone's face off and wearing it is part of that trend though, nor do I excuse other restrictions by Sony which I'm not convinced are related to this. Ultimately all consoles are curated content and this game found a line. Is it on Nintendo Switch? Nintendo's stance on censorship serves them well and parents trust their band especially for younger kids. If you want to experience extreme degeneracy a video game console is really not the place.

So just because *you* are easily triggered by a HORROR GAME, one that isn't even as bad as other major games released on the platform, some BY THE CONSOLE MANUFACTURER - its perfectly acceptable to have censorship? Also Nintendo has actively been having rated M games with no problems. They have, ever since cleaning house of their regressive Treehouse staff that actively censored large swaths of games on the Wii U/3DS systems, stopped needlessly censoring their games. They have made a *lot* more money because, guess what? Adults can decide if something is for them or not. Censored games actively hinder the product more often than not.
But hey, since it triggered *you* then censorship is A-OK.

Sony not wanting this content on their platform is not controlling what you can experience as an adult. I can easily name some fucked up things that would not be allowed on any console or storefront, consoles are by design walled guardians. Unrestricted access is on PC and I'm not talking about Steam.

It’s everything, breasts, butt, hips, hourglass figure, feminine facial features, typical clothes for women. I’ve tried to have the discussions, in short my conclusion is that female characters needs to look more like men, wear clothes like men and behave more like men, to be realistic or something. I’ll never understand where it comes from. Some say it’s feminism but the biggest feminist I know is freakishly beautiful and wear figure hugging 50s dresses, so I don’t know.
