14.1M of all PlayStation Plus subscribers are on Extra and Premium tiers as of March 2023. 6.1M on Extra, 8M on Premium

I was not expecting Premium to grow that fast as a tier or have more subs than Extra.

Thought this was coming tomorrow? Guess they want to get it out of the way before the Showcase.

That's a really impressive percentage on Premium tier. And actually, really good on both combined considering PS+ is, what, around 45 - 48 million? That ratio should also give a nice boost to the ARPU.

Now, c'mon Microsoft. Give us a damn Game Pass update, it's been like 18 months going on at this rate. Can't give sub count update, can't give a revenue update, but can talk about "transparency" to keep the community safe. Kinda ridiculous.

yea, I got to say....I'm fucking surprised. I thought for sure most would be on Extra tbh

Surprised here, too. But to K'Dash's point...no the numbers can't be BS, otherwise they'd get sued by shareholders for lying to them (and probably investigated by the SEC on top of that).

I think alot of folks had PS Plus stacked for years and just paid the $150 premium upgrade the rest of there subscription.

Edit: also there was a loophole that if you bought PSNow for cheap you would be automatically upgrade to premium when it came out.
I did this too but this ended in June 2022 which is where it saw the most growth. Still had fairly decent growth thereafter though.

Truth.

Maybe people felt the higher tier was just a few bucks more and had the "in for a penny, in for a pound" type thinking. I mean, I almost went to Premium myself lol It just doesn't offer enough for me to get it as many of my favorite old school PS1, PS2, PS3 games etc I already own anyway lol So maybe we just exaggerated how much we didn't care for it like COD or AC and the majority fans like it and are not really in forum stuff.

My PS Plus/Essential is good till 2032. I always buy around black Friday which there always on sale, or look at CDkeys for cheap. I'll eventually upgrade to premium when it's worth it.

I can see why this happened, a lot of people took advantage of that PSnow upgrade to premium hack.

Premium is only $20 more for the year subscription so it honestly feels like a better deal than Extra. I re-subbed to Extra only cause I pretty much own all PS3 games I ever wanted and playing then locally on my PS3 is a better experience.

Did they just leak the new silent hill?
Edit: Nevermind, we already had known the title, apparently…

"amazing". Definitely looks good in terms of 3rd parties on their way, aside from Suicide Squad and Crash Team rumble. However, it also shows how piss poor the first party titles for me have been. Just nothing interesting or fun for me. Surprised they didn't have better game choices for third party titles. RE4 Remaek and what not. NBA/FIFA/CoD/Fortnite? Makes me wonder where the gamers with taste went.

Subbed to PS Premium myself, mostly for the PS1 and PS2 titles. Fuck the PS3 game streaming. Reminds me why I enjoyed Playstation for years. If only they could put that same passion and quality into their modern AAA games.

Even without deals a year of Premium is just 30$ more than Extra, It's basically nothing and a lot of people just say fuckit I won't bother in checking out the difference

“Two or more major releases per year” isn’t nearly enough if the idea is to cover a wide broad of genres including live service.

You go from generally giving us two major single player games per year to what?

I don’t know, they might be fucking up.

14 million not bad, 8 million on premium, hopefully that they are going add some worthwhile content on there soon. Once they have the ps5 slim out, add some free trials, this time next year, they should get close to gamepass numbers.

The difference in games between Extra and Premium isn't great, but it's all just $100 vs $120.

Premium still should be better, but I find the $20 worthwhile anyway.

No.

He said don't expect day one PC releases for their AAA single-player games.

They like having a three tier release.

1. PS5 launch at $70
2. A year or so later go into PS+
3. Drop a PC version for $60-$70

But that chart says theyll be releasing the same amount of games on PC as PS5 in FY 2025

Yes, that's how I originally got onto the Premium tier. I'm certain many others did, too.

Premium sucks though.

It really doesn't, though. It's only a few bucks more than Extra, and I dig some of the "classic" PS1 and PSP games they've added in recent months.

If you don't care about old PS1 or PSP games, or the streamable PS3 games, then you'd be fine keeping those few bucks in your pocket.

If 2 or more PS5 games released in 2024.
In 2025 those same games will be releasing on PC.
This means Jim Ryan is correct about PS games releasing 1-2 years on PC after PS5 release.
I kind like this approach. Bring more games to steam.

I hope they drop bloodborne pc this showcase though.

Edit: current list so far
