Found out a friends brother passed away the other day. He had been struggling with drug addiction for years and had seemed to be getting better as of late.

RIP.

Sorry to hear. He probably had big ups and big downs.

Shame although I can sympathize with his choice.

This pretty much sums it up. I hate this time of year because it reminds me how lonely I am. Outside of my wife and adult stepson, I've got no one. No family (close or extended), friends have all long since drifted away. Been here three years, seen neighbors come and go, tried to be friendly with them but no one cares. Everyone is so insular and skeptical of others. It's all so depressing.
