No. I've been thru layoffs in big companies. People see it coming and gossip spreads. There's lots of signs. Like projects being canceled. Just getting acquired by a bigger company almost guarantees layoffs soon enough.

So have I and many of my co-workers did not see it coming.

Like I said, it depends on how exposed your position/department is to the commercial side of things.

By the way, if gossip is spreading like wildfire then that's a failing of the people in the know to keep a lid on things.

Yeah, there was absolutely no way that Microsoft would formally announce layoffs before the fiscal year/quarter ends. Announce the news right at the beginning of the new fiscal year and by the end of the 1st fiscal quarter, it's in the rearview window.

When do you believe those started to be given out?
They have been around a super long time but didn't make their way to youth sports until the early 1990s or so?

I remember my son getting his first one in a tee ball tourney when he was super young and he tossed it in the trash because he was disgusted how his team played

I know that stems from how I raised him but never once told him those trophies were bad, he knew they were a joke he wanted something earned.

Likely why he has achieved everything he has now by the age of 36 and on course to retire around 50

Why is MS FORCING their employees to use A.I. so much?
Microsoft sells AI solutions to other companies.

Think of it as a kind of customer zero reference, if it's not good enough for Microsoft to use it internally, how can they convince anyone else to use it externally? This is a get onboard or get offboard moment. They want to be able to share their internal efficiency gains as a sales point to sell the solution to other companies.

LIke I said, often employees smell something coming thru changes in the business and the gossip that surrounds that independent of leaks.

The part of my family that are miners in WV and Montana have been anxiously awaiting for AI to start taking the jobs of those who laughed at them and told them to learn to code.

I cannot fathom how great it feels for them. I can't stop smiling.

Unfortunately, I have an Uncle that feels bad. I had to tell him not to feel bad for those little bitches, just to laugh. Can you imagine the amount of money these dillweeds spent on college just to have tech screw them?

What a glorious day, everyone. I even took the doors off the jeep to celebrate with a ride and some tunes.

Ah I see, so the laid off employees who say it came as a shock must be mythical beings who never exist.

I'm happy that someone I asked finally realizes that participation trophies didn't start after the year 2010.

I started playing Little League Sports around 1990 and some of my friend's older brothers started getting participation trophies a few years before us.

You can't be serious...... Considering they are miners in WV.

I knew they were around for quite awhile and after you asked I wondered what the earliest mention was of these trophies and looks like it began in 1922 in Ohio

Never said otherwise.
you just spent 5 posts saying otherwise.

the entire point was it's impossible to keep a lid on things when employees are the ones who often smell things coming independent of leaks.

I'm going out on a limb and say he is a commie liberal, that's why he feels bad. However, I've been a registered Democrat since 1998. Being in the Marine Corps where 99 percent are Repubs and my family and wife are independents.

The amount of fuckery I put up with on the daily would hurt me in the cockles if I had a heart.

I just did a Mario Jump, for the hell of it with a smile though.

YOu jsut spent 5 posts saying otherwise.

It's unfortunate that your reading comprehension is out of whack then.

If individual performance related then yes. If business performace related (or financial) then no. A lot of people just go to work and do their jobs with blinkers on, especially in roles that don't require them to be commercially aware.

Man, I didn't hear about participation trophies till my wife moved off base on 2005 when I deployed for the elections in Iraq. She sent me an email asking, "what the fuck a participation trophy is?"

I won't lie she didn't ask me if I had any issues in combat, but that God damn trophy got her goat. Never being at home and gone for over 14 years deploying, she did a fantastic job raising them as if I was there.

I can't believe how early it started. Now I'm digging to give my self some good edification. I'm really blown away.

lmao he did, check the bottom tweet of this picture

He lied so much about Xcloud we both got Samsung Folds early and his impresses where that there was 0 input lag. When I called it out for being a lie and showed a video he blocked me.

To anyone who has ever used XCloud on a phone, imagine a tech expert telling you that there is 0 input lag 4 or 5 years ago.

That was you still arguing it can ONLY be individual performance related. ie it can only down 1 way. when that just isn't true.

Nowhere did I say "only" I listed it as an example scenario along with a couple on the other side of the equation.

There are plenty of examples of employees coming out to the press/social media and saying they were shocked when getting caught up in mass layoffs, so I don't know what you're even attempting to argue here.

Xbox Play Anywhere is not, nor ever will be, the way I want my games. I'm not interested in Netflix for Games except as maybe an additional service, not a primary and only one.

And I don't think I'm the only gamer that feels this way looking at how Game Pass just isnt growing.

I can definitely believe that.

One of the most two-faced content creators out there imo.

It can go both ways. If it's business related it's not usually because of dumb shit like gossip. It's because you looked at Concord hitting less than 1000 ccu's on Steam and knew you were fucked

Yeah too many people "THINK" they started 10-20 years ago, when that's totally not true.

XCloud has been pretty reliable on my iPhone, but holy fuck I would NEVER tell anyone there's no lag.
