Gamereactor: Red Dead Redemption 2 for Switch 2 may come this year (alongside PS5 and Xbox upgrades)

How much smoke is there ? I thought this was from one random person ?

There have been talks, leaks (Brazilian rating boards) and rumors of RDR2 coming to Switch 2 as far back as 2022. From multiple sources within the industry. The first rumors were (understandably) mistaken for it coming to Switch 1 as Switch 2 hadn't even been announced yet. Clearly Rockstar has been cooking on this port for at least 3 (maybe more) years now.

Also it makes sense, in that they are clearly trying to build/re-build an audience for this franchise with the recent re-release of RDR1 on Switch and current gen consoles.

Need an official announcement on this, this is torture.

There is already a 4k remaster. It's not 60 because the game breaks even on PC if you try to mod it. I really doubt they'll remaster the remaster just to fix that.
There's an instance where one suspects ends up running too fast and gets hit by a car and killed. I had to disable 60fps just for that.

😂 It's coming.

There's way too much smoke for there to be no fire.

Most likely is a Switch 2 launch period game and a PS4 upgrade for $10+ and/or a PS5 purchase for $50.

I can't see them charging more than $50 for this (on PS5)
Guessing $70 on Switch 2.

Too bad that took so fucking long. My wife is currently suffering through the game with memory leak crashes every 2-3 hours. Or rather, restarting every 2 hours to avoid that. Huge bug they apparently never bothered to fix. The "fix" is to switch to DX12 from Vulkan, but for some reason that option is not selectable on linux. (plenty of dx12 games play through proton/VKD3D)

There's no cross-saves, either. So she won't be able to switch to ps5 when this comes out. Really shitty!!!!

That's strange, buddy plays on Vulkan and it runs better for him and has not run into this. On Windows 10/11, not Linux, however.

He has thousands of hours into it on the PC.

Apparently happens on both linux and windows. That's IF this is the memory link issue. Another fix was supposedly to turn off rebar, which I did and had no effect.

I would REALLY love for someone to figure out how to get the game to switch to dx12. :/ You can change the setting, but the game won't start.

As I'm currently playing RDR2 at 120fps maxed out i don't know what bugs you are talking about. Flawless experience.
Got another actual gameplay and not just visual bug for you. I fired up RDR2 last night and was just messing around with my framerate uncapped. With my 9950x3D and RTX 5090 playing the game maxed out at 5k with DLSS Quality, I was getting 100-125 fps.

You ever try fishing at your 120 fps flawless experience? Must not because it's pretty freaking far from flawless. The controls are completely broken. When you're trying to bait fish by wiggling and pulling the rod, you can't pull the line left or right, only up and down. Then when you hook a fish and try reeling it in, it takes significantly longer and is downright impossible at even higher framerates.

We can pretend everything is fine but unless you're playing at the intended 30 fps, no it is not fine and you're not getting the true experience. And again, this isn't some exhaustive list of issues at higher fps. Who knows what else is broken that you'd find if you actually dig in and test.

Why are you complaining to me? Complain to Rockstar or slap your system.

Because I advocate for sticking to the intended experience, as bug free as possible, and I want to inform persons such as yourself who don't know you're causing bugs in your game by playing like that. Maybe you'll go to catch the legendary fish and go "why the heck is this so hard?" There you go.

And...? What should means?
Means you'll be able to to migrate your saves to different systems. If new ones weren't coming soon, they probably wouldn't have done it.

There's an off-chance that it's just to migrate your saves between Xbox One, PS4, and PC, but it's unlikely it's just for that.

And...? What should means?
Probably means rdr online migration, like they did with the ps3 version of gta online to the ps4 version

I really hope this comes true, RDR2 is one of the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had, Truly a masterpiece of storytelling and immersion.

Is it less boring than the first one?
Looks like bait, but I'm a cunt so I'll bite. How do you define boring in this case specifically?

If this is a genuine question then I'd say that RDR2 is slower paced than the first game, so if that was your problem then you probably won't like this at all. It's also a lot longer than RDR, I'd say around 50-60 hours minimum to get through the game and epilogue, without engaging in much of the side content.

I loved the atmosphere and visuals of the first one and completed it but didn't find the gameplay especially engaging and some story aspects were nonsensical but no biggie, it's a game.
Sounds like the kind of thing I should get the updated PS5 Pro version of in a sale one day to wander for a few hours.
Thanks for the info.

Nate has reliable info but the timeline of when his info actually comes true is very hit or miss. For example, he was beating the drum about a Silent Hill 2 remake for like three years before it was finally revealed. So his info must've been from when the game was greenlit and all he knew was it existed. This is why every time he leaks a game I just assume it could be years away before an announcement.

If that's the case then you may actually really enjoy RDR2. I'd say that it is more engaging than the first game in the sense that there is a lot more you can do and it's a lot more immersive. Arthur's story is also really well told and he's a great character with surprising depth (depending on how you play him).

The biggest problem with RDR2 is that it controls like shit since it prioritises animation over control responsiveness and currently runs at 30fps on console, emphasising the problem. This can make free aiming and performing certain actions annoying (on controller anyway). When I played it on PC at 60fps it felt more manageable, so I'm sure it'll be night and day with an enhanced edition on PS5.

Please be true. I held off on playing the game with this hope.

You have seriously avoided this game since 2018 in hopes of it having a 60fps upgrade for consoles? You've really avoided playing this masterpiece for almost ten fucking years because of that?

If true, that is some of the dumbest shit I have ever read on here full stop. Some of you here truly have some issues. Shit like DF, influencers and whatever else has completely broken you all and fucked up your enjoyment factor so bad.

What is this new trend of calling anyone you disagree with "autistic"? I prefer retarded.

I seriously have enough to play that even waiting generations isn't that big a deal. I missed the window when the game was a cultural zeitgeist due to life priorities, followed by Gran Turismo taking almost all of my gaming time. Now it's just in my backlog as something I'll get to eventually. If an update is coming, I might as well wait for it to experience the best possible version I would have access to. If someone told me no update is coming, I'd have played it a lot sooner. RDR 1 was one of my all time favorites and the only Rockstar game I saw through to the end. But I'm never in a rush to play games if there is no one still talking about it. It is a lifetime hobby after all. So...
