Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nintendo Switch 2 Edition & Update 3.0 announced

Not sure I'd agree with that. The Zappa pfp is nice, I guess.

You don't know what that means.
Yes I do. We compared lists of games released over 8 months and then you were like "but but but Sony had more NEW games on launch day."

You came in here console warring and got called out and then you goal post moved. Looking forward to the next one.

The facts are the facts. You tried to make Nintendo look bad in regards to Switch 2 edition upgrades but you ignored how their new game output still outpaces Sony.

Ah okay, thought you were referring to the ratio between new releases and remasters for Sony, which I addressed. We were not on the same page, but I'm not 'mysteriously' leaving out anything when you asked me to compare both consoles and the Switch 2 is evidently not five years old like the PS5.

The console warring in question...
They charge you $10 for them, but you already knew that.
If that's such a big concern of yours, try calling out L*][*N*K L*][*N*K first. 🤭

I really can't understand how anyone can defend Sony's first-party game output this generation.

I was thinking the same! I keep telling myself this is the norm from now on....this generation of console is the worse ever!

Backwards compatibility can be a bit of a monkey's paw. With the time and cost it takes to develop games, no one is going to cut off a large customer base like we saw in the past. Cross generation and paid upgrades are here to stay. At least Animal Crossing is getting a free content update along with the paid Switch 2 upgrades. It's also been a heavily supported game post-launch, so I'm okay with tossing Nintendo $5.

No. That's not what you said. You said

Switch 2's amount of Switch 1 remasters surpassing Switch 1's amount Wii U remasters was definitely not something I was expecting.

They charge you $10 for them, but you already knew that.

And then proceeded to post a console war list you thought was a gatcha but it actually makes you look like an idiot because you ignored Nintendo NEW game output alongside the Switch 2 editions.

Like an idiot to whom? You? I clearly pointed out that Nintendo was publishing way more remasters than Sony on average after that user was pretty much just console warring in the line of "lol lmao sony only does remasters" when I called out for his original disingenuous comment.
I ignored Nintendo's new game output just like I ignored Sony's new game output on that list because that's not what it was all about. Do you need anything else for me to explain?
And again, if you were actually concerned over console warring in the thread, you would be targeting shit like this instead:
They should just call it "Remastered" and charge you $70 for it, it is working on PlayStation

Its not the price. It's the fact that Nintendo are charging just for increasing the resolution in the first place. Something that takes them next to no effort to do. It's borderline scamming people.
Didn't Sony do the exact same thing with the Horizon: Zero Dawn upgrade?

oh I know its here to stay !
but it seems they are relying way to much on it! they are going the same route as Sony
I regret a little buying a Switch 2 and a Ps5, that's pretty much the reason I wont be buying a Ps6, Ill game on Pc mostly and keep the Switch 2 for once in a blue moon Nintendo games

The resolution bump might be the only thing appealing to you, but the fact is they are implementing more than just a resolution bump with the paid upgrade (mouse controls, increased online player counts, voice chat/GameChat).

I think Nintendo has mostly done a good job of adding in in content when the upgrades are paid for and they do seem to be getting the updates out of the way at a rapid pace. They also did a good job with their new release pipeline on the Switch and that trend seems to be continuing with Switch 2 which makes the prior upgrade strategy easier to ignore. It's just the world we live in, but I can see being put off by it. I know that's the case for me and Sony, but that's compounded by my general lack of interest in the majority of their titles and their decision to introduce mid-gen hardware refreshes as a standard which makes it difficult to ever know when to jump in.

come on man you can now have 12 friends on the island at once.

That being said, wasn't support for mouse controls and GameChat added on patches for some Switch 1 games?

No the game was ported to the updated engine used in Forbidden West, and assets were upgraded with higher quality ones. It wasn't a simple resolution bump.

They also re-recorded dialog and did new mocap for the conversations.

Whether the game needed those changes or not can be debated. Maybe if Sony had more money coming in from releasing other games instead of all the failed experiments into GaaS they would have released it as a free upgrade.

Dumb comment, Sony isn't in desperate need of money and they just do it because they can, exactly like Nintendo.

He does this shit constantly. Just mute him and move on. You won't get the hours wasted back.

Anyway, to be more productive, I'm guessing that the real reason why this is a $5 upgrade and not a free patch is because Nintendo wants a Switch 2 Edition branded Animal Crossing box in retail stores, and because they want to preserve the idea that there's a difference in value between Switch 2 games and OG Switch ones. Basically, they want consumers to be able to buy Animal Crossing in the red Switch 2 box, but they want to be able to do it without setting a precedent for price parity between Switch and Switch 2 versions of the same game.

It looks like I will be starting over if I plan to get back into AC. I had backed up my old AC before getting rid of that Switch but when I went to load it today on the Switch 2 my save can't be found. My daughter swore off of getting a Switch 2 because they lost her AC save when she had to send her lite in for repairs. She followed the process they told her on the phone and when she got her console back, they could not get her save restored even after calling them again. I don't understand the draconian measures on a single player game.

I have not decided if I will ever start over or not. Definltely put off from doing it right now.

I personally love these Nintendo Switch 2 Edition's :)

Hopefully we'll get more like:

1.Metroid Prime Remastered - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
2.Luigi's Mansion 3 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
3. Metroid Dread - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

Nintendo should all 1st Party Games rerelease as a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition over the next 8 Year's :D

I legitimately don't understand why this game can't use the switch cloud save backup. It's such a fucking stupid decision on nintendos part.

No clue either.. but do you know a way to save scum? No chance i am doing all this shit again

It's telling you that it's locked but you can just press OK and it will start the non-switch 2 version, which still has the updated resolution (but maybe only in Handheld)

Never played this first time round. Bought it this morning with the original Happy Home DLC too. Just playing now and it's pretty zen. The background music/ambiance is just what I like.
