Bioware Reconfirms Next Mass Effect Game Still in Development - "Committed to telling more stories"

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

I decided to play through the remaster collection. I am finishing up ME3 right now. It holds up better than I thought it would. So damn good even after all these years.

Thinking about a new game bums me out though. The soul of what makes that trilogy good are a handful of elements that seem impossible for current-day Bioware. Looking at what they did to Dragon Age, I expect I will have no interest in a new Mass Effect game because it will be Mass Effect in name only.

Will Barve's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson make an appearance?

The fact that they specifically call out their attention to romancing characters instead of talking about traversal, shooting, rpg mechanics and other stuff that would actually matter tells me everything I need to know. I dont care about lesbian-space-scissoring and I wish they would just leave this I.P. alone.

I imagine it's not even the same team that made the original trilogy and after their last few games, I can't even begin to drum up any excitement for it.

If it's going to be as lame as Veilguard, thanks but no, I prefer it never releases, the crazy thing is after all the backlash from ME3, it's going to be reivindicated as an actual masterpiece in comparison to whatever Bioware is releasing...

Are the stories and HR in the room with us right now? Because considering BioWare's output I can just see the "success" and "owning the chuds" that is going to result from another 5-7 years of development.

So what's the N7 Day thing? DLC? Cosmetics? Anything? How can they be so dumb?
You can get 50% off the 5 pieces of merch they still have in stock.............yup.

Also, the draw of Mass Effect was Shepard and crew flying across the galaxy. Trying to solve the mystery of the Reapers, etc.

A show without Shepard, Joker, Garrus, Liara, etc and the freaking Normandy sounds profoundly stupid.

Some of you are ready to hate on a game without seeing anything.

I get being trepidatious after Veilguard but I want nothing more than the next Mass Effect game to be a banger and I really hope they pull it off.

I tapped out when I saw Mass Effect 3's preorder bullshit and that saved me from the game itself. So I have no love for the franchise (or studio) anymore. And being an EA game is practically a dealbreaker for me anyway so all I can say is "good luck".

Currently replaying the trilogy and having a fucking awesome time.

I have absolutely zero interest in what this current Bioware will put out.

It will be Mass Effect in name only. No thanks.

I'm ever the optimist and willing to give it a shot. I think EA has shaken things up at BioWare a bit and their previous games had some cool things going on, just wasn't a good complete package.

Love the Mass effect IP, so crossing my fingers!

I hope so as i am looking forward to the game and the haters can hate on this all they want it's not going to stop me and others from looking forward to the game.

I want this to be good because I do like Mass Effect (much more than Dragon Age). But I just can't see current BioWare to deliver.

I said the exact same thing about Veilguard and look how that turned out.

At this point I'm just assuming anything BioWare makes will be a giant steaming pile of shit until proven otherwise.

Veilguard had a lot of trouble for years though and all the trailers we got for it we're pretty bland. We havent seen anything other than the announcement trailer (which i thought looked great conceptually) and a few teases here and there.

The upside is that none of the writers that worked on Veilguard are working on Mass Effect. There is hope.. please don't fuck it up.. I love Mass Effect :messenger_loudly_crying:

Every year they post the same crap about the next Mass Effect, clinging to a saga that peaked during the PS3/X360 era.
What used to be a cool reminder of how awesome ME used to be, not is just a reminder of how pathetic Bioware has become.

They might tease something later or maybe not. They announced the game too early in my opinion and the calls for patience after such a considerable time after its initial announcement makes me laugh.

Imo it's understandable some Mass Effect fans are disappointed at the fart in the wind approach to this game.

What will we get next year? A audio file of a Krogan farting into a Citadel Air Vent?

That's ok, Owlcat is making next "ME" based on Expanse IP. I trust them a whole lot more vs modern BioWare. After all, Pathfinder WotR and Rogue Trader were excellent.

ME Andromeda: "it sucked because the A team were all working on Anthem. Just wait for Anthem!"

Anthem: "it sucked because the team had no experience making a live service game. Just wait for Dragon Age 4!"

Veilguard: "yeah well this game went through a really troubled development. Just wait for the new Mass Effect!"

Yeah…I'm done giving BioWare the benefit of the doubt. Zero hype from me.
