Resident Evil Requiem | The Game Awards 2025 Trailer

From the trailer I like that Leon's section is more like RE4 than Chris's section in RE8 which honestly felt like COD more than RE.

i don't know who is the cutscenes director or performance capture director, but capcom selection of actors is always bad. the actors sound cringey and amateurish, they don't ever evoke any emotion. when they nail that part of their games. the games will be way better, i mean the overall experience.

This basically looks like RE4 injected into the new RE formula. I thought they were shooting for more of a RE2 meets RE7. I'm hyped but I was hoping for a more fragile, vulnerable Leon. It would evolve his character but this just looks like a rehashed RE4 Leon.

It would devolve his character, not evolve.

Just thought it would make for a more authentic experience if they showed that he's aged and not the same Leon. Eventually they gotta pass the torch to another leader of the franchise.

That would require him look very old but in the trailer he doesn't look that old at all, in fact look like his in very good shape.

It's just not what I was hoping for in this game. It's my most wanted game next year and still is but I wanted Leon in the game in the new Resident evil. I thought with the vibe they were going for this would be RE2 meets RE7 but it's more like RE4 meets RE7. Not to say that won't be great but it's not what I wanted from Leon. I see this as a rehashed Leon instead of an evolved Leon. Like roundhouse kicks and chainsaws again. Common man.

My biggest fear was Leon section would be like Chris section in RE8 so I take RE4 style over that.
 
I really hope they are shooting for a different scenario setup like the original RE2. If they do that they'll win so much points for me.

Yeah. Probably likely that's it's just the traditional campaign though. But there's so much you can do with different scenarios and it gives you a good reason for another playthrough.
 
Thank god. Leon will save this game. If it's half and half then his half will be 10/10.

I didn't notice until a video mentioned it but the cars are old in the game. Seems kind of strange for a game that takes place in 2028.

More worried about how she sounds. The voice actress for her in RE4 remake was…not good. They need to bring back whoever voiced her in 2 remake. Or literally any other actress who has voiced her over the years. Provided Ada is even in the game.
 
I don't think ada will be here. I get the sense they want this to be graces game. Too many characters might go the route of RE6.

I also as much as I like Leon I hope it doesn't overshadow Grace….I personally really like her.
 
Did anyone think the camera looked different than 2, 3 and 4 remake?

I hope not but the camera for 3rd person in 8 was awful

Also a fan of her character. I wasn't even gonna care if she was the only main character. I wasn't dead set on Leon being the other one. Having Jill would have been awesome too imo. If there are other characters in this it will probably be small bits like Chris's role in village. I don't think their gonna go the fan service route and a have everyone in here. I don't think it's a bad idea to have little scenes with various characters though if they are deciding to do a re telling of the past and stuff.
 
The voice actor of Leon was changed? I heard more deeply, and more like the original RE4 got old - which I'm totally ok
 
I really hope they don't RE6 this game by trying to please everyone with different campaigns and then end up pleasing no-one.

I love the RE games but im also kind of getting burnt out on them. This isnt doing much for me unlike 7 or 2 remake which did

At least Capcom are prolific this gen which is more than you can say for most pubs.

Exactly. Survival horror doesn't really frighten me in the slightest anymore. I'm not 10 years old. Just let me take Leon around, demolish weird looking bitches, rattle off smug one-liners, and ride off into the sunset in my Porsche.

Can confirm, I did the same exact thing.

Some people don't get it, most of us don't play RE games for the "atmosphere" or the scares (which there are none), all gameplay shown until yesterday was akin to a mediocre Outlast game, people don't want to play as "weak" female characters slowly exploring "atmospheric" environments and hiding from stalker enemies but, in fact, want to wreck shit and making zombie heads explode by using their favorite established characters.

RE games stopped being "atmospheric" and "scary" 30 years ago, these are more action horror games than survival horror ones, hence why most prefer a 3rd person camera AND action heavy bits.

Just pointing out the axe sub-weapon icon on the bottom right. Hype.

Also I really liked the animations and hit feedback even from that basic pistol. Looked splashy and dramatic, the way I like it. The lab coat "zombies" are a nice touch.
 
Disappointed that Leon is in the game. Hoped for a more scary experience not roundhousing zombies while quipping. All their talk about evolving the formula for the 30th anniversary and pulling out this.
They're trying to have their cake and eat it at the same time with these 2 very different gameplay loops...I'm not sure how they will gel in the end...
Will wait for reviews.

Cliff notes

- Grace's game play will be like RE2 remake. Leon's will be like RE4 remake.
- Grace is the "most fearful" RE protagonist and Leon is "the strongest"
- Gameplay time between the two is roughly split in the middle
- Balancing Leon for an optional first person view was a bit of a challenge.
- They will show more Leon game play in a January presentation
- Leon will not wreck his porsche (or they won't get a license again)

I'd prefer a full game with Grace and her evolution from scared to somewhat capable, right? And now I just feel she's getting robbed with only half a game.
