Total Chaos - First Person Survival Horror featuring Music from Akira Yamaoka - Out *TODAY* PC/PS5/Series/Game Pass

No news on when it's on ps5?

I would've impulse bought immediately. Looks super cool.

Looks rad. Remake of a classic GZDoom campaign you can still play (3rd embed here). Also VR coming in Q2 26 for this new version.

An Apogee joint by Trigger Happy (Turbo Overkill devs)? I'm definitely playing the demo tonight.

That's right! No wonder this felt so familiar, lol. All makes sense now. Even more excited about getting into this!

Nope, I want now :messenger_unamused:
Ok.

This is a Greek style game. It's a meme term coined by the streamer Aris/Avovidingthepuddle for being someone who plays what his community loves called also Aris Slop.

Thats its initial impression so far. It's a weekly stream release horror game from a one man indie dev team level of doo doo.

It runs fine. Looks like a ps4 game. Meh environment design. Audio seems good. This game is trying to give you motion sickness and seizures. Luckily I could disable head bob, motion blur etc on ps5, but if you move left and right you still have this odd head bob motion away effect. There's no way to turn off this effect as if you're looking out of a scuba gear mask where the corners are rounded off and blackened.

Large inventory system, crafting, weapons break, and you can dodge. No run button? You just move fast.

Enemies so far look whatever. Nothing terrifying.

Audio is all it has going for it so far.

Something about that trailer screams "this won't look half as cool or play half as well as it appears to". I can't even decide why but I feel it deep in my balls.

Fuck me. Jumped out of my skin.

The fish eye is A LOT!
Unfortunately I had to drop the game.

I'd love to play longer but unless they give me the option to remove fish eye and the side motion bob, plus reduce the non stop light flickering, I cannot proceed.

I'm worried I'm going to get a seizure or throw up.

This is a motion sickness nightmare.

this is the first game ever made me feel nauseas that wasnt VR
I had to take medicine and make a cup of tea. Now I'm playing izuma 11 to get cozy and feel better.

If he horror was the motion sickness it would be a 10/10. Idk who the fuck play tests these games.

This was the sense that I was getting from the trailer. Surprised more people didn't see through it.

This has gotta be one of the worst takes I've ever seen and I've seen plenty.

I had a similar take the first two levels and was going to drop the game. Not even sure why I kept going tbh

But I am so fucking glad I did. This game is fucking genius. I had to look past some jank but I see the gold. Amazing level design, great enemy/boss encounter design, and GOD TIER audio that takes the horror to the next level (it makes everything feel oppressive on the level of a Silent Hill game). I kept on waiting for it to get old like I felt the first 1 and a half levels, but every level since is visually and thematically distinct. Each level has some pretty wild and unique horror scenarios to keep you on your toes. I have genuinely been surprised by each turn by the constant variety. The story also definitely has me pulled in.

There's also a solid amount of depth to the combat/movement. For example, you say there is no sprint and you just move fast. There's a little more to it. Your movement speed is directly tied to your carry weight, which adds to the resource management/survival part of the survival horror experience. This makes a difference. There was one section with a stalker boss I legit couldn't pass, just death after death. I then just dropped a ton of inventory (which was an agonizing decision with me prioritizing what I needed, was was most effective, and what weighed the most), to get myself to a certain speed, and then I took that section first try just blitzing around the stalker (going past a certain threshold also just makes you move like molasses).

I would love to see this dudes survival horror design in something with more funding. This honestly feels like it has significantly more depth and variation to it than the SH2 remake, and I loved that game.
This dude knocked it out of the park.

My main advice to you all is to turn the brightness down to 35, the FOV to down 80, turn up the sensitivity to at least 50, and turn off all the chromatic aberration/lenswhatever stuff in settings. You wont have that brutal sickness feeling (I had it at first too). Do not give up on this game.

Also, that trailer in the OP shows waaaaay too much. Don't watch it if you haven't.

Just finished this. Long game for the launch price, took me about 12 hours.

This was one of the best survival horror experiences I've had in my life. Easily up there with games like SH2, Signalis, REmake, Re2make, Alien Isolation, Dead Space, or Fatal Frame. I wish I could play this game blind again and experience those horror set pieces again. My only issue is that the last three chapters leaned in a bit too much to the horror action aspect. There wasn't as much fear factor in chapters 7-9 (and they were mostly shorter, so whatever). It makes sense thematically, and the game straight up warns you to stop hording your items/ammo at this point, but it did slightly hurt the experience for me. Same thing RE tends to do towards the end when it shits the bed.

That said, first 6 chapters were genius. Every chapter brought a new experience/set piece to the table, and it was a legit joy to go into these puzzles/areas blind and figure them out for myself. The story was great too. Between the sound track, story delivery, and set pieces, this game wore it's influence on its sleeve. This was first person Silent Hill. I genuinely believe that if this launched as an SH spin off, people would be sucking it off. It was miles beyond SHf for me, which reviewed better. That is straight up criminal.

If you're a survival horror fan, you owe it to yourself to play this game. Just push past the first 1.5 chapter (not bad, but not representative of the full product and this is when the jank starts to get to you).

9/10 for me.

Watch the latest Total Chaos trailer for the psychological horror game to see what some critics are saying. Total Chaos is available now on Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 (PS5).

Psht, took me 12 mins, to decide I'll just get back on the boat and gtfo that accursed island or whatever.

Solid game, there are FOV/bob/whatever settings so Idk what folks were so offended about earlier here.
