Move over Xbox fans your persecution complex slot has now been replaced.

Congrats for being dragged into this retard war and finally recognized, Nintendo fans.

Fair play to them. They're keeping my bum ass employed

As of today isn't the Switch 2 the fastest selling videogame console of all time? I may be wrong.

Correct. It simply had a weaker holiday in the U.S. than Switch 1 did. Since the comparison is Switch 1, which had BOTW and Odyssey stacked, Switch 2 "failed", and Nintendo doesn't have the same global reach as Playstation, et cetera.

Where are the zealots now when i told about this possibility, which explained the discounts ?! Or when I post a opinion about MK World not being a system seller ?! 🙃

Nintendeen vindicated, you love to see it

the switch 2 never got an official price drop until a $50 off deal in 2026. all price drops were per store basis and not in major markets. and the ones like the French one was to rival competition with other stores.

Are you expecting a pat on the back or something?
This, as well as an apology from Nintendo, 3 free physical games on real cartridges, and a free trip for 4 persons to whatever amusement park they have opened.

Fair but I have to ask what's your plan for next gen when physical media will die completely?
There is a high possibility that I will stop gaming on such platforms because I am bit fed up with this shit.

Yeah they had to discount $50 in Dec to get the 1mn in sales in the US.

Sort of...it got Black Friday deals from some stores that extended a few days into December, with some fine print like not seeing the discount until put in the cart.

Certainly, they sold bundles at $449, but it's not as though there was a campaign to save it by pushing a lower price. Which seems like what might have happened in a few European countries.

I'm trying to reconcile Nintendo fans buy everything with this bit of weakness in Xmas sales. And games like MP4 and KAR not selling in the US.

"That's it? Everyone was coping about some HORRIBLE holidays sales but then it turns out they're only 3% lower than the first Switch holiday?"

This was posted on the sales earnings thread........ Pretty sure you guys have been suggesting things where worse on the thread, and before that. ;)

This guy is a grifter who has been proved wrong...

It's a subpar system at the moment

I'm not surprised at some of the success but other than the loyalist Nintendo fan, most people don't buy their major 3rd party games on that platform vs the others.

It feels depressing to me to see how many games they lack that are on other platforms and lack true new gen games that aren't ports or last gen or older software in 4k.

It's down by more than that in the Americas and Europe where the bulk of the market is...

I think its probably their biggest factor in this entire situation, although I still see them doing relativelly fine.
I guess once they start doing better and different versions of SW2, they would be more inclined to reduce the price. I don't think this is gonna affect them that much overtime though since I don't think its that much of deal.

I've said it before that I thought Nintendo has handled the Switch 2 conversion poorly. The patches have been too slow and random, and the game lineup last year was just weird. I'm glad that Kirby stans got their Air Ride sequel but nobody else cares.

Easily fixable problem, though.

Not really a problem when it's still the fastest selling system ever. I doubt it reaches the heights of the switch though but 100m should be a lock.

It's actually doing pretty good without any good single player game. Let's see how it looks after releasing some high caliber.

The deals were well into December. Amazon had the bundle for $449 on xmas day even. ;) $100 off was possible even. Just had to stock up on eshop cards at 20% off from warehouse clubs. And then buy direct from Nintendo which now lets you use eshop cards to buy anything in their store.

But yes there no official emergency price drop like the 3ds had in its first ~8 months. Still the xmas discounts indicated sales were on the weak side of expectations. WE saw that with low Nov sales numbers.

The price shock is real. I don't think it's high relative to the fact everything has gone up in price. But people's minds are still not used to it. And considering incomes didn't necessarily go up like prices do for many people, their wallets are tighter.

Meanwhile Nex sold hundred of thousands of units the last 2 months of the xmas season in the US. And it's very much taking a page from the Wii with a physical experience at half the price and sort of turning Nintendo into the PS3/Xbox One of this generation so far. ;) IT's not quite that dramatic (the experience is more like a poor (sloppy) man's Wii) but it can't be helping.

The xmas game lineup in the US didn't help.

Easy summary:
Expensive console (that's expected to get more expensive just like the PS5, Xbox and GPUs have due to DRAM scarcity).
Piss poor screen.
Expensive games (£70 for DK Bananza/Mario Kart, LOL. Pass).
No 'proper' Mario or Zelda games announced.

Nintendo like ripping us off. People are slowly getting wise to it and hold off on their spending.

Just keep waiting. Play your backl;og.

Way more simple than that… Switch 1 had the Mario Odyssey launch in that period.

I think they have a price problem, more then a games problem.
Going forward it needs to be £50 to £100 cheaper.
At the current price it's only a matter of time before it falls behind switch.
For me it all comes down to demographics. Switch gamers will tend to be on the youngest end.
At it's current price it's an expensive gift to buy a kid.

Just my opinion of course

New Zelda and new Mario is needed to entice western market

I get this take, and I see it often, but Mario Kart on the Switch sold more units than BotW and Odyssey combined. I honestly think the price is too steep for casuals. Parents are probably like $450 for something that plays the same games and has new games that cost $70-$80. Nah, you don't need that new Nintendo, Billy.

I stand corrected about the sales then, they had more persistence than I realized. I didn't know that about Nex -it's hilarious that it beat Xbox's sales in November lol.

Could be, but they're dealing with the same issues everyone else is these days. I think they'll monitor this and adjust if it really starts to slow down.

People really make these idiotic statements without looking at the data, which is readily available for everyone to see.

Huge swing in regional breakdown from switch 1 first holiday quarter. Japan was a huge 37% higher. But outside japan sales were 16% less.
So in fact Japan is the outlier versus rest of world despite Nintendo fanboys claiming otherwise....imagine if there wasn't a region locked version at $350 and only the regular version for $450 available there....
