I wonder how much of the estimate miss is a result of the geographic sales splits. Higher Japan sales and weaker Americas and Europe sales are going to have negative impacts on margin as it's stated most of their procurement costs are in USD and the JPY is very weak against the USD.

Assuming you're arguing in good faith, which most of you fuckers ITT really aren't, there's a couple of things to take into account here: Nintendo had a lower goal of units sold for the end of the year, then raised the goal and then the console still surpassed it. So it didn't "sell less than expected" overall. The other thing is that this a fucking expensive device in a shit economic time, especially for people in the US.

And apologies because i forgot to write the most important part... nintendo president admitted they did not meet thie internal sales expectations in some parts of the world... which aboslute explains why i saw S2 bundles discounts on cyber monday on different stores and different countries... for God's sake, here in Brazil i saw some bundles with 20% off, and some zealots want to convince themselves Nintendo had nothing to do with it.. of course, the company what sells "New Mario Bros Wii U Deluxe" at the same price as Mario Wonder when it was released will allow retailers to devaluate their premium product...
What Nintendo needs (like a company with so good finance today need something.. :-D) is a system seller like BOTW was - and no, i don't think Mario Kart World is a system seller, you don't see people like 'i need to play DIS NOW'.
And, to make some zealots furious, i dont know why... i have a SW2, it's a very nice hardware

I'd say Nintendo has five series to really push consoles. With Mario Kart being a lunch title and Pokemon being a yearly release, it leaves them with 3D Mario, 3D Zelda, and Animal Crossing. I'm not sure we'll see any of those this year with Monkey Kong having been worked on by the Odyssey Team, TOTK being a relatively new release, and New Horizons getting a hefty update this past January. My tea leave reading could be wrong. I also don't think price drops are likely with the state of memory industry, the opposite is far more likely, but maybe they've built enough margin into the launch price and sales underperforming outside of Japan might help dissuade that.

Consider the japanese ver ~350$, all other region is like 450$~550$, not suprised. The japanese market is subsidied and face more cost issue in the coming 2 years. Other factor: no big 1st party game to attract westen gamers.
Janpanese gaming market is shift more to mobile/portable gaming. The investors sold the Nintendo stock since the margin issue (after switch 2 release, 20%~30% more operation cost, -40% less operation profit)

Well, in my opinion (which no one wants but ill give anyway) Switch 2 isn't hitting their marks because its missing the very thing that people loved about the first switch, it's collectability. People loved getting game cards and accessories and decking out their system and now Nintendo is taking that away little by little with game keys being just the start.
