Sony decided to have Horizons GAAS closed playtest this weekend. Same weekend as marathon server slam and RE4

Do these people not communicate? Two GAAS playtests on the same weekend as the launch of Resident Evil 9. What is going on?

It's a closed test.

With that said, don't care for either game and,

This is by design so they have an excuse when no one inevitably plays either Horizon or Marathon

Sort of like how they announced that they would be permanent banning all hackers

They're preparing people for the very low player numbers

It's a closed test doesn't matter much. The marathon will have millions of free people to pull from. Horizon handpicked people to try it out.

I'm sure the Hotizon playtest is relatively small and it appeals to different players than Marathon and Resident Evil.
It's bizarre planning and your assumption is not worth a risk taking. I mean there are lots of people who would want to play all three. Why not do it another weekend?

I bet it is purposefully done to drown out any negative coverage it will recieve. Guerilla just wants to gain information. The game is not coming out this year

Last week, Bluepoint closure. Phil Spencer "retirement". Nintendo refunding Xenoblade.

News really fell off a cliff didn't it?

Horizon is a limted closed test. Pretty sure they will get the people they need. Doubt they give a shit a about CCU.

I don't know but with a bit of grit and determination I think they'll be able to recover from this grave error.

Those lots have no chance to play all three - one is close test most likely to handpicked small crowd (who probably played Marathon already if interested)

Neither my head nor my hand are big enough to execute the facepalm your post deserves...

You're seriously telling me people won't use that as an excuse to justify weak initial performance? New here?

We've already seen how negative discourse can tank momentum for a game early on. With titles like Highguard, the narrative formed early and stuck. It absolutely feels like groundwork is being laid so that if engagement is low or reviews come in rough, there's a built-in explanation ready to go.
