After Cancelling Most PC Ports, Sony Promotes New 'PC Ready' Controller

Maybe Sony isn't cancelling the PC ports after all. They haven't made an official statement and we've only been hearing rumors and 3rd party reports. I'm going to take this to assume that they may very well continue with the PC ports until they say otherwise themselves.
There's still hope!

You're at a disadvantage competitively.
You're always at a disadvantage on PC against people with much better setups even if you're on m/k yet still people play on crappy 60hz screens and ancient mice. I've personally been doing great on cross-play against people on PC, I don't think it matters that much these days. We're not in the Quake 3 and Unreal era.

Sony can't force it, but they should gently encourage developers to add Dualsense/haptics and glyph support to PC versions of games. Love that shit.

Are the rumors being taken as fact?

Because Sony hasn't confirmed anything at all about returning to complete exclusivity for single-player games.

The title is quite pretentious.
There's going to be hell to pay, crow served and so many pies in so many faces if Sony announces a PC release for a big first party title.
Horizon Hunters Gathering or the other Sony funded & published games don't count apparently.

Is it just a dualsense with a usb cable or does it come with a wireless dongle and can do wireless dualsense haptics/triggers?
Does any of the haptics/triggers work wirelessly now? I haven't tried it out.

How is the haptic support on PC? I know the battery life is poor but I love the controller and haptics on PS5.

Perhaps they will push PS Cloud Streaming on PC harder. You'd need a controller for that.

That's how I like it.

And if they stopped releasing games for Pc, i don't think they would make a big announcement about it. They would just stop releasing them.

It matters massively lol. The faster paced the shooter the more controller gets left in the dust

i dont see the issue here?

PC gamers use controller on their PC as well.
I agree. People are just finding things to complain and whine about. I play regular PC games with DS4 (in the past) or dualsense, they don't HAVE to be used for PS only games on PC as if there's some unwritten rule.

When was the last time a first party single player game released on PC? It's been over a year, it's widely reported everywhere. I think it's safe to say it's true, and of course Sony isn't going to come out and say they're done bringing single player titles to PC.
The next game would be Yotei, but keep in mind that it's launching in October 2025.

Which doesn't tell us anything as of today about whether the rumors are true because it's still within the console's exclusivity period.

And this is coming from someone like me who defends console exclusives.

And, so what? DualSense is a great PC option and popular even without the bundles, it usually shown even at Apple events as a go-to controller.

I'm playing ETS2 and Helldivers 2 with it right now, hardly a PS-centric games.

LIke I said, everything is a disadvantage on PC. It ultimately doesn't matter, a controller is "good enough" for most GAAS games and plenty of people use one. Some old-school PC gamers will have their old man yells at cloud moment not being able to comprehend why people would use a controller and that's about it.

The reporting says they are cancelling their big single player games for PC, not that they are completely done with the platform and will pretend it doesn't exist.
The cancellation stuff wasn't an official announcement, and even if the reporting is completely accurate they are still planning to release GAAS games on PC: Marathon, Fair Games, Horizon Hunters Gathering, 4Loop and probably whatever Dark Outlaw is working on are all coming to PC + some games from third parties they are publishing like Kena 2.

It's so-so. Few games go the extra mile to add haptics. Sony's own stuff have it.
Dave the Diver, Hogwarts Legacy & Cyberpunk 2077 have haptics & adaptive triggers. Apparently Hi-Fi Rush supports it too.

To use and abuse aim assist(s) and think it's their merit??

Most of those games will be best played with a m&k.

The reports are referencing single player games specifically so that shouldn't affect other revenue streams like accessories, live service etc. Console manufacturers have always made a good profit from accessories to help with the loss/break even on the console. Pulling back on sales of that outside PS wouldn't make a lot of sense.
Yep. Single player first party games is what I understood.

PC will still receive GaaS and "2nd party" games for IPs they don't own, but will fund the projects for (like Kena, etc.)

Jesus Christ, even in a thread about Sony announcing a new controller for PC you guys end up arguing about woke shit?? Forums are getting fucking exhausting to browse these days, holy shit. It's like people have completely lost their minds.

I used the DS almost exclusively playing Helldivers 2. Had no issues.

For someone who's used to playing with KBM, switching to a controller can feel pretty hard at first, especially in games that require precision. But like anything in life, practice makes perfect, or in this case it eventually becomes a really comfortable way to play. I barely use KBM for gaming anymore, I have a DualSense for games that support it, and an 8BitDo Ultimate for everything else. Zero stress, zero headaches.

You are not wrong. Gets really annoying that this dominates so many threads.

So?
They'll still have controller support.
The Dualsense also works with pretty much every Steam game that has controller support. And accessories, unlike the main console hardware, are usually high profit margin products.
There's no reason for Sony not to promote the Dualsense on PC.

I prefer playing RDR2 on the PC with a controller over M&K. 🤷‍♀️

FPS, RTS, most RP and most TPS games, M&K.

You're acting like controller support for those games is some sort of draw. It's not. People serious about competitive games on PC use m&k not a controller.

Again, so?
Just pointing that out. I'm ok if you don't like that.

"It works with Marathon and Fairgame$!"

Ok, so what?

It's just not an appealing controller with so much competition in the space. Dualsense support is very limited and the controller has a reputation for being unreliable. Uphill battle for Sony.

To be fair, there are still a lot of games on PC where a PS controller either wont work, or you have to do workarounds to get it working correctly. Thats why Xbox controllers are so popular on PC, because everything just works with them.

Maybe this new controller helps with compatability with games or something.

It doesnt really prove anything either way, and the rumour about them stopping SP PC games isnt confirmed either yet.

There is a larger market for PC games than ever before, and more accessories dedicated to PC gaming (gaming keyboards and mice) than ever before. In any case, playing with a controller is for old people.

How's the stick drift? Did they improve the sticks like replacing them with Hall Effect ones or TMR?

My Xbox Series X controller that I've been using with my PC just started drifting and now I'm scared to use my DualSense as there's numerous reports of that one also being very suspect to stick drift. What is it with modern controllers and build quality? My ps3 controller still works, my 360 controller too, would go back to it if I knew where it is.

Same kind of people who play JRPGs with a mouse.

I use a PS5 controller with Steam. Works great.

I would be nice if Sony released actual software that made the controller work on Windows without something like Steam Input though.

Schreier gave an opinion on a podcast, people pressed him about it, so he wrote an article in Bloomberg. That's the extent of it.

The thread isn't about Controller vs M&K, it's about Sony still promoting the Dualsense on PC despite a report that they are scaling back their PC porting of single player games.
Me and others are pointing out that there's nothing weird about that and the two things aren't really connected.
PC still has and will be getting tons of games with controller support, and Sony themselves will still release some of them.
There's literally no reason for Sony to no longer promote their controller on PC simply because they'll be releasing fewer ports of their single player games on PC.

That's not something they will announce, it's an internal business strategy, also Blomberg reports are not rumors they are facts

I never said they shouldn't. I'm just pointing out its not an appealing option no matter what games they continue to port to PC.

Great, like it's all unconfirmed rumors for now by "insiders" and those "close to the company". But nevertheless retards and fanboys rejoice.
For me it may be just another "Bloodborne remake is near" type shit.

It's not like they had that much first party output. I might be forgetting something but I think the only "1st party AAA single player game" released by PlayStation Studios on 2025 was Ghost of YĹŤtei, on October. Only six months ago.
Their latest PC releases that fit that same category were Spider-Man 2 (PC: January, 2025/PS5: October, 2023) and The Last of Us Part 2 (PC: April 2025/PS5: January, 2024/PS4: June, 2020).
Second party, or however should be called, single player games like Death Stranding 2 and Kena: Scars of Kosmora were announced for PC during the February State of Play.
