Warhammer Survivors announced (Warhammer 40k version of Vampire Survivors)

It is so bizarre to me that just a few days ago I was thinking how good the 40k universe would fit a Vampire Survivors-esque game if done right, and here we are.

Hope there are more enemy factions than Orcs though.

Wish it had a more unique art style to the environments. I had to double check the dev wasn't poncle.

Rather it was old school Warhammer Fantasy Battle based...hordes and hordes of Skaven trying to kill my Elven war dancer!

Speaking of good fits, hear me out...

Anyway, fun to see old Bale Eye in the trailer.

It's not. It's the same devs who made BoltGun games. They used the Vampire Survivor engine. Poncle is very happy with it I'm sure.

Ohhkay. I'm like... Their name is at the end of the trailer? And it looks EXACTLY like VS? Seriously this could pass as a mode or DLC for VS with just new characters and levels its so similar. It's too bad it doesn't stand out more as its own thing.

It looks fine, but I was hoping more brutal for the setting, and it looks too samey to Vampire Survivors.

Other Survivor-like games out there that do better like Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor or Megabonk.

I'd rather pick this up when it launches later this year if I want more Survivors style games:

Games Workshop is run by retards who heavily sanitized 40k and go for the safest, least offensive route. They're not exactly Wizard of the Coast-tier retarded but by god they're trying.
It's like a sprint to the bottom of the shit pile with those two.

I'm surprised we haven't seen MTG collaboration with fast food mascots yet. They've done it with everyone else.

dont understand the fascination with this gameplay. It's properly dull.

The creator took gambling psychology from years of making mobile slots games into a single player game. Be happy it didn't sink its' hooks into you.

I played vampire survivors religiously for about two weeks, I can see the appeal for sure, once you become overpowered it's just cruising around crushing enemies!

bender bender is right, there is a particular dopamine fix from the sound of the jewels and the power ups that is undeniable. It's very good once you get in the flow, but it is "slop" if you want to call it that. It's a cool idea and the games are cheap so I can't hate on the developers. They came up with a niche idea and ripped off castlevania and got away with it somehow. They must be laughing all the way to the bank, must have made millions and it's only £3 or something.

It's a weird one for me. The vast majority of games employ psychologically manipulative measures in there games, but few as blatant as VS and the countless clones its' spawned. VS definitely got its' hooks into me (part of that is how it invokes Casltevania, most of it is those dopamine triggers) and I generally enjoy my time while I play it, but I have nothing but regret the moment my session with it ends. It just feels like empty calories.

Yeah, I platinumed it and got the fuck out. Never touched the DLC packs or anything even though I could have spent hours and hours more. You hit the nail on the head, it's delicious fast food but not nourishing to your soul as a gamer 😂

Yeah, they sure as hell don't make it easy. At least we still get some good 40k stuff, whereas WOTC torpedoes just about everything they touch. But one can see the path they're both headed down, and it ain't pretty.

I was pumped, watched the trailer and it unsold me on the concept completely.

I was thinking of more than just a boring Vampire Survivors reskin. What a boring take on a universe that they truly could have done more with.
