Jez Corden: I can say there are very, very big discussions going on regarding exclusivity internally at Xbox

You know I said they were thinking about adjusting Game Pass, there's a very very very big discussion about the exclusivity stuff going on right now internally
I think they do recognise the value, you know, it's just what type of company do you want to be at the end of the day.
Do you want to be an ecosystem company first or do you want to be a publisher company first
You can't do both well, either the hardware operation will shrink to basically what Surface is now, a shadow of its former self, not its death bed, do you really want that for your Xbox brand which is the only consumer facing ecosystem which has any form of cloud with consumers, and Satya said in the leaked conversation with the staff Xbox have also value in the corporate side because when I meet with a lot of executives they don't want to talk about cloud, they want to talk about Xbox, they want to talk about Halo they want to talk about Xbox games, it's where you reach your consumers when they're not working, I think increasingly they recognise this.
But the discussions are ongoing because at the end of the day they leave money at the table and it's hard to fight against the spreadsheet

Sure thing Jez.

Good. Stop being stupid.

If your games are fucking everywhere, then nobody has a single reason to buy your console. LMAO. it's so simple.

And Sony needs competition again, a stagnant, unmotivated Sony is bad for everybody.

Not just that, people get fixated with their purchases, and it makes more sense with 50 to 100+ hours games.

Well, xbox + pc is better than making some games exclusive to xbox.

Xbox + Microsoft Store could work. I would extend that to Nintendo and maybe PS, but Steam is the big elephant in the room that the console manufacturers cannot ignore.

Epic Games are making profit by keeping their games to their storefront on PC and releasing on console.

The genie isn't going back in the bottle. Microsoft would be leaving sales on the table from the platform where people actually buy their games….

PS5

I would prefer if it were available everywhere. More choice for me.

But players need to ensure no monopoly. Let them compete. There needs to be a chance to succeed for other stores.

Sadly, while I would love for every game to be available on every major storefront and console, players have shown that they will always choose the established ecosystem. In this case, it's Steam for PC and PlayStation for console. Nintendo and Xbox to an extent had to compete using blue ocean strategies - handheld hybrids, exclusive Nintendo games, and for Xbox's case, Game Pass.

LMAO

No there isn't. Xbox hardware is dead. Whatever they shit out next is going to have trouble selling 5 million units. They would be billions in the red every year if they stopped putting out games for Playstation and Switch.

Keep making PC versions and it will be fine.

Forcing customers to get $600 box to play a few games is kinda lame at this point.

I think they can't go back to not releasing PC versions, that's for sure.

I could see them go a Sony-like route, where GaaS titles will be on other consoles, but anything else will be only PC and Xbox.

LOL... no one was buying their console when they had exclusives.

They cannot magically wave a wand and make all of the ABK games exclusive unless they want to end up dragged into yet another anti-trust suit. Not only that, but they'd be destroying themselves because the vast majority of ABK game sales are on PlayStation platforms.

Xbox fucked themselves with $80bn in M&A and now they need to show a profit from it. They won't do that by limiting the audience to the lowest console install base and PC Bros.

That would be the only way they could turn things around honestly. They should 100% do it but they will of course lose sales in the short term in doing so but they will stay relevant longer.

lol, their consoles barely sell anymore... do they really want to stop selling games full-stop? Because L-bots will buy a dozen copies of their games at most. They'll demand for the rest to be included on GamePass for free of course!

The only way to turn things around would be to revert to a state where they were hemorrhaging money?

🤔

🤣🤣Stay mad, boy.

Also what does he (or any Admin) over there actually do? I know Transistor virtue-signals a lot about "Xbox bad" over the Israel/Palestine stuff but then they still don't sticky the Boycott Microsoft thread to any of the Xbox threads, even tho a bunch of people have been asking them for a whole year to do it and they've said they'd do it but one year later...still nothing 🤣

You'd think admins would have that type of access; they don't even have to do much effort, just edit OP posts with a link pointing to the boycott thread. They already modify posts for a bunch of reasons (most of them stupid). Hence why I said they virtue-signal, because that's what it is.

If they do that, then I don't understand their strategy at all. Why release a console that will cost over $1000 and will also be more expensive than the PS6?

In that case, they should have priced the Helix in the same range as the PS6, but it's also fair to say that the fact that the Series S is cheaper and the Series X is more powerful hasn't had a significant impact compared to the PS5.

They'll also lose a lot of sales for their games if they stop releasing them on other consoles. Are they prepared to do that?

They've destroyed their own console business to the point where almost no one cares about Xbox consoles anymore, and after all that, they think going back to exclusives for a console that's going to sell even worse than the Series X/S might be a good idea?

At this point, they're just sabotaging themselves.

So they're going to make Gamepass cheaper, whilst expecting people in their dimishing console ecosystem conditioned to renting, to turn up to pay for COD & all of their exclusives?

And they expect to make more money from this?

I mean it wasn´t too long ago that the purple asylum banned everyone who dared to question Spencers bullshit. There where plenty of (paid) shills active at that time and i certainly wouldn´t be surprised if the admins/mods were in on it.

They either need a really powerful console with tons of FULL EXCLUSIVES like their most successful console 360 had or they need to dump hardware and just make games for pc and ps5/6 their xbone/series strategy was pure garbage and just about killed the division

Way too late. Plus, so many people have PCs these days that hardly anyone will buy a Helix, especially since it's going to be really expensive.

They're going to lose a ton of money again. Too bad for

Both Sony and ms dropping g steam support would be stupid.

But, if we are going back to exclusives and these conversations are partly happening because of Sony pulling back then it makes business sense to discuss pulling out of porting games to playstation.

Its just if they can make that work. Xbox games are consistently chart toppers on playstation so how do you cut off that revenue stream. Especially as things are getting more expensive.

Sony probably doesn't need to sell a few hundred thousand copies of a ported game to pc. Xbox will definitely want to sell millions of copies on playstation.

I don't know how they make that work.

Exclusive has to go back just like OG Xbox and xbox 360 to be more competitive. Same goes to PS. Exclusives gives us better competition which means better quality and choices.

Wasn't the humor just mostly pop culture references been a while since ive play SO but im sure it wasnt edgy. In the sense of trying to get people's attention by trying to push buttons

The warchest is spent. Not even the best case scenario for Xbox would make the money back. There is only two options; salvage, or cut loose.
I kinda wonder if MS somewhere is realizing all that AI is an even bigger money sink then their gaming division, but without any profit getting generated at all.

So now they're trying to salvage gaming because the response to AI and Data Centers have been unpopular

I can't wait for MS to make Bethesda-Activision-Blizzard games Xbox exclusive and watch sales of their games drop to nearly zero resulting in them completely writing off the $80 billion they spent on those acquisitions and then shutting all the studios down and laying everyone off at those companies

Except I don't think they are quite that stupid. Maybe. Hopefully. Everyone who works at Bethesda-Activision-Blizzard better be praying to God and Satya they don't actually try Xbox exclusivity again on all their titles

Do people even take Jez seriously at this point? With FH5 and Sea of Thieves sales, plus FH6 sales potential it will be suicidal to lost revenue stream so healthy. Not like GP is actually making money anymore.

Plus a lot of future projects are obviously moved over to PS5 simultaneous development pipeline and I fully expect that E-day will be on PS5 day one.
