GAYMING AWARDS! I'm really proud of that, because I absolutely stand by the fact that the way we did it is exactly how something like this should be done. Non-coercively, naturally, and educationally (because we show how things really were in the Middle Ages without idealizing them)—and without shoving it down anyone's throat or trying to re-educate them like so many titles that are rigtfully called "woke" these days. We made the gay community happy and gave them the CHOICE to be themselves, just like we did for others in other choices and quests, and anyone who isn't interested probably didn't even notice. Except, of course, for very small and very loud minority. It was my idea, my decision and my responsibility and I had to convince others to do it. I believe, that absolute majority of people get it just as it was intended and the sales and user reviews prove it. None of that means, that I personally don't find the abundance of forced "woke" nonsense in the entertainment industry annoying at the same time Thank you all!

I thought it the game handled it pretty well. Henry is straight and to get him to partake in le bumsex you have to really be deliberately going down a convoluted path and I think that is a great way of including something for everyone without being a tryhard piece of shit like most developers that ram it to the forefront with 25 genders and hair colors.

This is one award the game absolutely deserves to win. In fact they should retire the gayming trophy because no game is ever going to out-gay what Vavra did here.

If you look into it further, and few do.

So I haven't played any of this game series (I don't like FP perspective in games due to motion sickness and rarely ever play FP perspective games), but isn't the gay romance in this game optional and avoidable by players who don't want it? If so I don't see the big deal.

I'd argue it's less about the inclusion of gay characters and more about how forced the way they included this feels.
This is a sequel to an 80 hours RPG where neither Henry nor Hans gave any indication of being gay or attracted to men. There are even comments by the official Warhorse account where they talk about how KCD isn't a game where you create your own character but rather one where you play as a pre defined character (Henry) who is straight.

With the sequel they are both suddenly Bisexual and the studio took a 180 on their stance and now it's all about Henry being whoever you want.

I don't think it ruins the game or anything, and to be fair they make the gay stuff easy to ignore. But it doesn't change the fact that it being there feels incredibly forced and like the studio was bowing down to games media rather than sticking with their original vision.

I was aware of it, it didn't feel forced thus far in my playthrough. It's fine having it for those that want it. However, what I did find jarring was seeing the clear options for pursuing that path with capon…which seems totally out of his character, everything up to that point was him being a very straight womaniser. Henry is only part Henry and then part the player, so that's fine…just needs characters for him to romance that actually make sense, instead of arbitrarily shoe horning in gender fluidity on existing characters that don't fit that.
