SaGa Series (Square Enix) Now On GOG

TBH I never got clicked too far with this series, while I adore the artstyle.
But I'm still interesterd with Saga 2, I think I will try someday

Always wanted to try Frontier. Probably as good of a time as any to jump in. Curious though why Saga Frontier 2 isn't on there.

No Saga Frontier 2 remastered?

This game begs for one of those background upscaling jobs.

Frontier has a really good remaster that was or is part of PS+

What's the selling point of these games? Never played them and never heard much of them.

They're quite unique JRPG with often non-linear progression. And they're hard as fuck. You can miss entire storylines and towns.

The most 'doable' SaGa game for me is Last Remnant. Its the only one I beat but even that one has some obscure mechanics and hidden OP spells kind of appearing at random.

From my readings, its reverse final fantasy, with heavy emphasis on gameplay and exploration while story takes more of a backseat. You can do stuff like different character builds and in a few cases even get ending variations based on your actions.

Yeah I think the Frontier remaster is the one I'll get for now. The big heads look kinda funny, but it looks like a cool game anyway.

Also, Last Remnant is a SaGa game? I never knew that

Yeah its by Kawazu, and it shares very similar tropes. You can miss entire towns and sidestories if you don't speak to certain NPC. TLR is more accessible though, and the Remaster was one of my fave JRPG on PS4. I really enjoyed it.

This game spend almost a decade in my backlog.

Eventually, i lost interest in it after hearing so much about how it was necessary to plan how to play or you will miss tons of contents, to not grind too much or the game would be basically unbeatable because of some bizarre enemy auto leveling, etc.

Battle Rank works a bit like FFVIII, level less and its easier. You also get a much stronger final boss if you did all side quests iirc. I beat the game without too much problems, some spikes here and there. And I did a ton of quests and battles. I am not sure if they loosened it for the Remaster.

Had a ton of fun with the game though. If you set up your party and skills properly you can nuke the field with hidden arts.

I tried playing SaGa Frontier 2 HD Remaster but I was super lost so I ended up dropping it. And yes I was using a guide. I had this specific issue with the SaGa games
