Take Two CEO confirms no PC version of GTA VI day one

Consoles still king.

Basically, PC folks, why are you paying full price for an old game?

You didn't want to pay for PS exclusives full price if they didn't launch day and date so I guess you gotta wait for a sale on this too.

Fanboys are always happy when other people can't play the game.

I love this behavior.

It will sell 20 million, but it would sell 30+ million with PC version in place.

You didn't get what I was saying.

I do get it. But those sales will come later, and Rockstar doesn't seem to mind.

Plenty of PC gamers such as me will double dip. It's basically the only reason I own this PS5 dude.

I dont understand how you and others brag about getting a game early solely thanks to the horrible spending habits of your favored platform's population. I rarely ever see any PC player bragging about Star Citizen and Squadron 42 being PC exclusives, it just feels dirty doing it.

You take the bad with the good.
shut up and take my money GIF

Speaking of double dipping, why in the world has Rockstar never released a next-gen RDR2 version? They happily re-released GTA V 3 times.
I'm surprised they haven't released it on current systems and then leaving a bit of a gap for next generation versions/upgrades (at or near full price).

I probably would've bought it again on PS5 at least.

It will sell 20 million, but it would sell 30+ million with PC version in place.

It would be pirated week 1 too, regardless of protection. They want to force people with consoles to buy it before PC or pirated PC is even an option. Let's remember this is _the_ game that will push MSRP to 100 bucks.

It could sell even more if the game was released on PC day one. The PC market isn't the same as when GTA V launched 13 years ago, today it's much larger than it was back in 2013.
Don't worry, it'll sell those units on PC in a year.

Do you know four random users on a forum who know more about finance than the executives at Take-Two?

I highly doubt it.

If you are unhappy, that means you should just buy PS5 Pro, instead of waiting for PC version.

There is still enough time, just save up some money (although you should already have some savings anyway), and be a part of it, if you are really interested, and a big fan of GTA games.

Embrace the hype, excitement, even FOMO in this case; we ARE talking about the kind of event that doesn't happen often.

Play it day 1, have a great time, and shitpost about it.

I couldnt imagine not playing the game of the generation on day one.

Last time with GTA V I got it the weekend ahead of release through some sketchy marketplace seller, it cost me 20 euro's extra and a short train trip but LOL thats nothing

And the time before that I went to the midnight launch of GTA IV with friends.

Man the fucking memories

MH Wilds sold close to 6.2 million copies on PC alone—that's roughly $432 million (with almost zero cost, since all these copies are sold digitally). Now, do you think GTA would move more or fewer copies than MH? Also, MH Wilds hasn't been cracked to this date, so zero copies were played without being paid for.
GTA is gonna sell like hotcakes regardless, the only question is how many of the people playing will be people who paid. They can assure the highest percentage of paid to playing on console, then potentially catch some double dippers in the transition to PC. I've been a PC player since the 90s, you don't need to sell me on the PC market because I understand and have been part of it since the pre 3dfx days; I'm just spitting commercial reality out here.

Since console is also the base minimum, I don't mind them taking some extra time to make sure the PC version runs really well, and is generally bug free, with extra PC features.

I see I've underestimated the seriousness of this news.

If it's any consolation, I expect a relatively short gap between PS5 and PC launch.

It will be pirated day 1, but it will still sell multiple millions.

No duh. PC always waits.

When? All big ass AAA releases from third party are day one on PC.

It will be pirated day 1, but it will still sell multiple millions.

Yes, but CEOs and investors think every pirated copy is a sale loss. If you get 100m pirated copies out it's hard to explain the board that those $1000m never existed to begin with.

Its been 13 years, i've longed moved on from thinking GTA was this big of a deal personally, and i'm sure others like me did too. And i used to be a big rockstar fan.

That's allright, I'm sure there are plenty of new users to replace old heads like you :P

There may be, there may be others who dont give a damn since all they play is Roblox and Fortnite. Point is, plenty of people who have no issue passing on this on release.

And 35+ million will purchase it this year, and it will probably be a top seller for years to come. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Never denied it'll sell a bunch 🤷‍♂️ , merely pointing out "game of generation" is merely a matter of opinion. For a lot of others, majority of the gaming population even, this is just another game.

I'm may double dip, I dunno. Last 2 games I didn't finish on PS and then got bored quickly on PC.

Did get quite a bit of driving around the map killing shit fun time out of 5 though.

Will the PS5 Pro version offer everything the PC version will too like ultrawide, 60+ fps, mouse+kb gun play, racing wheel car play, mods, native/DLSS quality resolutions, 16xAF, free online...??

and historically, also missing (albeit mostly minor) console content.

but consoles are basically mid PCs these days, and the RAGE engine got a massive update (if rumors are true), so PC may actually get a 1:1 port this time.
then again, dev size is the largest ever. could be a ton of spaghetti code again.

I don't know, but if someone can afford to spend $3000 on a PC, they can easily afford to buy a console too, no?
They can, but won't.. You know how the age old saying goes, "I'm not buying a console just for one game". It's always just one game, never more than that lol
